Does it still make sense to bring Valencia in? (at 8.3)

His price is still reasonable imo. I'm not sold on him though with the options on the wings coming back. I'd wait till the fixtures improves

Well done man, I was having a nightmare at the start of the season, my aim was to make it into the top 10,000 this year, and realistically that is still possible. I've improved every year since I started, was floating around the top 10,000 last year near the end of the season and had the worst last month ever, ended up coming 60,000 somthing and losing my mini league. Learning from my mistakes though.

Just see Granville's 4th place prediction for the toon!!! Good on ya! Though even I would resist from saying that we will finish in 4th. But the fact that arsenal, chelsea and liverpool are a bit rubbish, and have other distractions, and we have already played man utd twice, and city away, means that it is a possibility, but only if we avoid any more injuries. If either of our centre backs get injured (colo especially) we will have major problems. I think we messed up in the transfer window by not getting any cover in. Bassong from spurs would have been perfect.

Toon fan here too! Still buzzing from that strike from Papiss!

4th would be incredible but probably a step too far in my thinking.

Yah agreed we need cover in CB, pity that our rumored transfers didn't go through.

Any update on Ryan Taylor's injury?

Dare i show my face round here?

Worst 2 FT decision EVER. Epic Gameweek fail. If you enjoy a good horror story, sit back and be amazed.

when i wc'ed a couple gws ago, it was always going to be sturridge->ba, always. Just a matter of when he gets back. saved up two transfers for this gw. my plan was sturridge->ba. save the other tranny, have 2 more free next gw. no problem right?

I went D Cisse. And that's only the beginning. I looked at my team and decided i need to bench one of my good mids this week because of my defense. too many players going against each other. I thought about how i could get a big splash defender with the 2nd tranny, and play a 4-3-3. Then save two transfers again for Bas next home game, dropping cisse and that big splash defender. That defender is Thomas Vermaelen. OOPS
Now, which mid do i bench? well i have sess & dempsey, against one city defender and two stoke defenders. Naturally i bench sessegnon. oh and one of the stoke defenders is Huth.

SO, in summary, had i stuck to my guns, made just 1 transfer, my outfield would have been

Richards, Huth, Santon, Silva, Bale, Dempsey Sessegnon(6 + BP?), RVP, Aguero, Ba(6 + BP?)
        and i have 2FT upcoming.

instead i replaced Sessegnon and Ba with Verm and D Cisse for a total of -1. and the extra used transfer.

about a 15 point swing, a 4 point hit coming, team value probably dropping, red arrow for the week and an ulcer bursting in the pit of my stomach. EPIC FAIL. and the worst part of it all is i probably recommended huth as the defender to bring in and Cisse as the striker to bring in to everyone that asked my opinion this gw. Well my opinion is crap. I completely shit the bed.

        How's everyone else's weekend?

Fuzzy that does hurt.. happen's sometimes though. My transfer was inspired this week (Walcott in) however not giving the dutchman the armband has proved costly, & 8 points + BP on the bench from McClean stings.

This is the number one reason why fear over 'too many players against each other' is ridiculous. Play your best team: don't worry about who plays who.

Rotten luck there, Fuzzy. Was in the chatroom with you when it all went down: really tough.

But if Spurs win, it will all be worth it.

Well how many goals have they contributed in the last 5 weeks anyways? Meh. It'll still be all about the Bale's, Modric & Scottie. Kranjcar looked quite sharp too! Enough quality with Spurs to trouble Pool. Sahaaaaaaaa debut for Spurs? 😉

Kranjcar was great against Wigan.......but its Wigan.

I think VDV was starting to play very well, too. He is a big loss. Ade....sure, he wasn't great. But he was always a threat, and that more than one can say for Saha, who I do think will debut.

If I'm Redknapp without the big three, I think I play Saha alone out front with a midfield of

                  Bale Parker Modric Sandro Kranjcar

I don't see pool breaking through a Modric/Parker/Sandro central mid. Although that would kinda force us to play for a 0-0. Meh....difficult.

Some serious bad luck, but it's sign of good things to come if you're willing to correct it. FPL teaches us the hard way - I got my lesson for taking the City defence too lightly this GW.

I feel like I might stick with my frontline this week: Zamora RVP Graham, And with a midfield of Dempsey, Silva, Sessegnon Valencia and Dyer I think I have a decent shout at some points there. It's defence I'm worried about with Young injured, Simpson up against Spurs and Mignolet's success working against RVP's success.

It's definitely going to be a week particularly vital for choosing the right captain, much like this week with RVP, except it's not so clear cut next GW. No obvious Cleansheets sticking out at me, ideally Dempsey will destroy Stoke for me but he may not be as effective without Zamora.

They're at home, though. Gunners defense far from confidence inspiring. I just have a feeling Sess will do well. Although I have to admit I like Valencia's odds, as well, even if it is pool. Toughie.

Depending on tonight, I'd do it. Come to think of it, Pool will defend for their lives at OT. It won't be easy to break them down even away from home. Nani will surely play at home & Young is SAF lurves Young, could mean Val to RB. Enough uncertainty to shift to Sezz, who's turning into a must-have slowly but surely.

The other reason I like that move is the money. Even though I missed all the Sess price rises, It would still give me enough in the bank to do Aguero>Rooney when United's fixtures change. I also think I may be able to get Evans or upgrade Lindy to Schwarzer with that cash.

Man, why didn't I have the balls to go Rooney? Both my potential cheeky punts in WC (Mata, Rooney) scored well. But I hope did the sensible thing in the long run.

Fulham defence is completely unreliable at the moment, don't get Schwarzer. Krul def worth the extra 0.2 or even Mignolet if he rotates with Vorm.

Dude, Mata is fantasy garbage. He's struck gold now..........he'll be ice cold for weeks now. Rooney is trickier, but Aguero is smarter. The difference will be 2-3 points between them this week. We both know aguero will outscore Rooney the next several weeks.

Also.....Aguero showing form now justifies the armband for 26-27.

Honestly Elnino, both Krul and Mignolet rotate horrible with Vorm. Everyone says Krul rotates well with Vorm, but they don't. Several weeks where they both have bad fixtures. Same goes for Mignolet.

                Schwarzer is only good match.

Vorm may not rotate with Mignolet, but I'd fancy Sunderland to keep a CS against any team outside Top 6, be it away or home. Trust me, they're playing like a Top 4 team. We all know how MON works his magic and is known for a solid defence. It's time to shift to Krul + Mignolet if possible, my friend.

I can't do it man: it takes way too long. I think Swans are the way to go. Theyve dropped a lot of cleanies lately, but most of those have been very, very close, and theres no better Shot stopper than vorm.

Krul and Mig also have problem fixtures.
                    25: tot or ARS
                    26: LIV or ars
                    31: LIV or mcy

all three of those are toughies. Home to Liverpool could be worse, but certainly isn't easy.

Just looked through Vorm/Mig....and its not good either. 23,28,38 are problems.

Nothing both these can't do. They're playing like a top 4 side, definitely capable of keeping a CS against LIV & ARS at home.

Look at Mignolet's home record in the recent weeks, if you aren't convinced. They've also conceded the fewest goal attempts in the league after City in the last 6 weeks.

Oo, that is impressive. I didn't know about the Sunderland defense stats. I will say, their fixtures have been very, very kind in that run.

I'm just not sure I can waste two valuable transfers on a keeper pair that don't actually rotate that well. I would almost rather just get a Sundy defender to cover, since, Vorm and Schwarzer rotate better.

I would stick with Valencia at least for the liverpool game, Sess is up against Arsenal and might not be as likely to score highly. Your front three look tasty but might not deliver the goods next week, all have less than ideal fixtures

Away to Villa is hard for Aguero? I don't think so. I mean, I guess his away play is questionable, but still: not hard. RVP and Ba, sure. But Aguero should score.

If the appeal for Huth was failed, what should be the best move with 5.7m?

        Vorm - Sorensen
        Kompany - Senderos - Evans - Simpson - Huth

A: Huth > Kelly .. double Fulham for their good fixtures. Also, insurance in case Senderos still injured.
B: Huth > G.Cahill .. will he keep his place and start?
C: Huth > Bardsley .. not good fixtures, but team form.
        D: who else?

Fulham defense is not too good, so even with good fixtures, I don't think a double up is wise. Cahill awful, Chelsea awful. Of those, I like C.

If you can get santon, I think he would be the better pick. Newcastle IS a defense you can double on.

        Pretty unsuccessful wildcard then.

        1) Huth sending off
        2) Kompany injured
        3) Migs -> Sorenson failure
        4) Siggs stuck on my bench

Cheers, I think you're probably right. No defenders really appealing this week and as long as the 3 I have in start, they have decent fixtures.

Siggs on my bench was a terrible call by me. Why I backed Moses to deliver (again) is beyond me.

Ryan Taylor will get much more acquainted with the bench in the second half of the season I am afraid. Injury or no injury. I believe this is the Newcastle preferred 11 (any Toon's here are welcome to correct me).

Krul; Simpson, Colocini, Williamson, Santon; Ben-Arfa*, Tiote, Cabaye, Gutierez; Ba, Cisse

          * I think Ben Arfa will be allowed on once Tiote and Cabaye are back.

Having said this, I am considering Valencia ➡ Sigurdsson myself. I have a feeling he will match Valencia's returns, and even if he only provided two 3rds of Valencia's points, he would still be better value. The question is not if, but rather what do I do with Lindegaard? Upgrade to Krul. Or wait and see another week.

There's an argument that Ba and RVP score BETTER away. Augero is an issue, but Villa's defense is shocking.

Fantastic ranking, ILA. Hoping to catch you someday.

Gotta bare with Aguero this week I guess, and hope he'll rip BB and Bolton up next..

Thanks Newman, doing brilliantly yourself. Quick question, will you be playing it safe to preserve the "good ranking" or are you planning to take big punts to might as well tryna win the game?

        Hi all

Interesting GW so far, 71 with Enrique and Bale to come, even though I was a stoopid monkey and captained aguero.

2 problems I see in my team but not sure how to solve,

        1. Backline, Enrique has horrible fixtures in the short term, and Raylor is (presumably) out for a few GWs?

        2. GK... happy with Krul, but should I swap out Lindegaard in the short term or hang on? The risk is he is out for a few weeks, that would be fine, but then is he necessarily going to step right back in?

Terrific score considering you didnt captain RVP 🙂

Id wait on Raylor and sell Enrique (united, blank, RVP, sunderland). Lindegaard id swap only if theres no other pressing transfer needs.

Looking at getting some CHE or MUN coverage in for GW26. Best option to bring in for this lot, and for whom? Was thinking Mata or Sturridge, but don't really want to lose any of the front 3, and would need to lose Silva, Bale or Dempsey for Mata! Should have 2 freebies and 0.0m in the bank....

        GW26 TEAM:
        Sorenson
        Kompany, Simpson, Rangel
        Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Moses
        RVP, Aguero, Ba

        Schwarzer, Sigurdsson, Caulker, Huth
        Bank 0.0m

          So little money!

chelsea is awful right now so just stay clear if possible.

Gotta keep bale and Silva at all times.
Gotta keep Dempsey until GW 30.

Umm....I heard Cleverley will be back soon. Huth>Evans, Moses> Cleverly?

I reckon we can be save without having any Chelsea coverage and prolly build up some funds to do Aguero > Rooney gw28?

Your mid and forwards are strong enough and your defense is looking weak IM so I would work on your defense. Aguero is holding a lot of your funds for only ok returns. Maybe punt on keane or whatever value striker you fancy in gw26, and free up cash for some defense transfers in the next few weeks. That's what I'd do anyway. Going for chelsea/united coverage for the sake of it is not worth it for me btw.

How do people see our chances away at spurs on saturday? We are still missing both our centre midfielders, but Guthrie has been class this year, and even Perchinio has looked decent in the defensive mid role that last couple of games. We have got a good recent history of results against them as well. I think we are a bit of a bogey team. And now we've got the double dembas, I think we can get at least a point.

I've got Raylor and Best who will both likely miss the game. If I want Best to become Ba, I am going to have to take a hit OR wait until the next game. I'm leaning towards getting him in now before his price rises much more. There are usually goals when we play spurs.

Depends on the Spurs squad, if they're all fit they're still a class above you guys imo. Massive achievement so far though, can see you guys sticking on the top four position for a bit.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that Spurs are in a different class to us. A full spurs team playing on the top of their form, would beat a full toon team on top form. We can give them a good game though, and if a few of their big names don't turn up, and all of ours do, you never know.

What do you base that on? I can understand people predicting a spurs victory, but what leads you to think that we will be ripped apart? Man City didn't rip us apart at the emirates. We drew with Man Utd at Old Trafford. On top form, Spurs only beat Wigan 3-1 at home. You really think they will beat us 4-1?

You obviously don't understand what happened. At the last moment he thought of taking a knee on the 1yd line to allow field goal and run the clock down, preventing the Pats final drive chance.

One thing to be aware of is that when he returns after the spurs game, cabeye should be on corners and free kicks instead of raylor. Should improve his potential.

Just seen the highlights from the Chels-United game last night.

I think the United fans should consider themselves very, very lucky to have gotten anything from that game. If I was a Chels I would feel very hard done by.

Howard Webb did not cover himself in glory yesterday. To be honest, those two pen situations were Christiano-esque. Especially the Wellbeck one - just like Adam Johnson's the night before, sticking out a leg while diving to the ground.

Ah, yes highlights, videos that depict a game's "few" moments yet, do not indicate which team was on top throughout the match bar a manic 5 minutes.
P.S Did the highlights include the blatant penalty not given in the first half?
