An eventful Gameweek 24 concludes tonight at a foggy Anfield, where title contenders Tottenham Hotspur take on in-form hosts Liverpool. The Monday Night Football Dugout Discussion promises to be an exciting one, with talking points aplenty already.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp isn’t in Merseyside tonight, having spent the day in Southwark Crown Court and seeing his flight up grounded due to ‘technical problems’. He’s named a side though and, along with the home side, it’s as follows…

Liverpool XI: Reina, Johnson, Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Spearing, Kuyt, Gerrard, Adam, Carroll, Bellamy.

Spurs XI:Friedel, Walker, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto, Kranjcar, Livermore, Modric, Parker, Bale, Adebayor.

Luis Suarez’s lengthy ban has ended, meaning Kenny Dalglish can name him amongst the substitutes. The undroppable Craig Bellamy starts, as does Dirk Kuyt and Andy Carroll. Elsewhere, fantasy favourite Jose Enrique misses the clash, woth Martin Kelly coming in.

As for the visitors, Ledley King starts, but there’s no Rafael Van der Vaart, Aaron Lennon or Jermain Defoe, meaning Harry Redknapp is forced to name an unfamiliar line-up.

      Suarez - very wasteful player.
      Carroll - insufficient quality.
      Kuyt - not given enough chance (imo).
      Bellamy - very decent, but not a central role and not up to him to take the most responsiblity.

      They'd need a midfielder in shocking form, like Maxi at the end of last season.

      Not the most unbiased of opinions here, but judging from the games I've watched I'd say it's all about the quality of chances created. When Stewart Downing gets the ball his crossing has been awful, and for every 'chance' he creates by putting the ball somewhere a Liverpool player might get a head on it there are half a dozen more that don't beat the first man. The ones that do make it aren't great.

      Add to that Suarez's desire to make friends with the woodwork at every pitch in the league, and Andy Carroll's profligate finishing, if you can call it that and you have an answer of some kind.

      The thing is Suarez had a great conversion rate at Ajax, and still does for Uruguay, he's scored as many goals for them this season as he has for Liverpool.

        Interesting new explanation, that it's the quality of the chances.

        Always seemed implausible to me that they could be SO. BAD. at putting the ball in the frigging net.

        Certainly they constantly pump the ball into the box and take potshots from range when that fails. Skillless.

    got to say i am shocked at the bias comments on these boards and would love to know the percentage of uunited fans who post
    yes tottenham defended well but we dominated a side that has been tearing teams apart this season but everyone posts saying we were dire
    if we had taken a few good chances this could have been a comfortable 3-0 against title contenders and yes that is something that has been a huge downfall in our season

    on a seperate point, would love to see this team at euros though it will never happen

          The Suarez one is the only good chance Liverpool had in my opinion. If you're including the 2 Carrol chances you may as well include the one when Bale missed the ball.

      Johnson at left back? Yes he had a good game, but he's better on the right, and kept Walker in his pocket all game.
      Capella was watching and doesn't seem a fan of Richards so it looks like Johnson may well be keeping his place on the right for England. Cashley or Baines are far better left backs than Johnson.

      No chance, Bale was kept quiet all game, had one shot on goal when one-on-one with Reina saved and an awful miss from 10 yards for some -PPI. Other than that he did nothing, Parker and Dawson kept blocking shot after shot, they should be in line for some. Maybe BAE too.

            TBH, the funny thing is that when Suarez arrived I wanted him to do well. Because he was very talented and he worked very very hard. Unfortunately, he's just impossible. Defending him is like trying to defend Balotelli.

    ok folks am considering taking Tony V out next week in oder to fund a move for Ba (and Rooney in GW28), will have 6.9ish to spend but want someone who ideally rotates with McLean (from GW28 onwards ideally) any suggestions?

    Clubs that rotate well are Newc, QPR, Wigan, Everton, Wolves or Villa

    or I could just get Giggs or Cleverley (likely to be equal rotation risks but much cheaper)

    Other option is Silva ➡ Yaya

    or lose Bale or Clint.

        Ox does not rotate with McLean very well (after GW28) plus a guy im ML was telling me he was putting Ox in and was reluctant to tell me as he thought I;d do the same, will look like I have (even though he's over 200 behind me)

                nope don;'t have to, but I have to lose a big hitter, unless i go Rooneyless from GW28 and to do so seems mad. Could also take Dave over Ba.
