The Technical Area – Breaking Gameweek 31’s Template

With just four fixtures confirmed for Gameweek 31 so far, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options for this particular weekend appear thin on the ground.

Restricted to just three players from any one side, managers find themselves exploring hitherto uncharted waters in the hopes of fleshing out a starting lineup capable of returning an adequate points haul.

Though a number of us may choose to preserve our Free Hit Chips for Gameweek 35 instead – content to roll out just seven or eight players in Gameweek 31 – others may view this Gameweek as an ideal opportunity to deploy the Free Hit now in order to gain ground on the pack.

With this in mind, this Technical Area will be looking beyond the obvious candidates for filling out our Gameweek 31 squads and pinpointing some high-upside players capable of big returns.

      After about a week of reading and trying to understand all this DGW/BGW malarkey I think this might be the best strategy. FH31 just doesn't appeal to me at all, not when 3/4 of the games are a coin-toss.

    I currently have 7 players for 31 (including Quaner in this) and have NO WILDCARD or FREE HIT left to use...

    My plans for DGW34 have already started and I'm planning on focusing my transfers on those players from now on.
    Is it worth me taking a ONE WEEK punt for gameweek 31? On say Wilson or benteke or niasse? Or should I keep with my strategy to focus on 34 and stick with what I have?

    Firmino Quaner

    For those of us who have played our wildcard this tactic looks to make most sense.

    Start bringing in lots of players with the following fixtures...

    Gw34 double gw
    Gw35 single gw
    Gw37 single gw

    3 teams are confirmed and another 3 look likely to have this pattern. You are then left with a team full of dgw players who have no blanks in 35.

    Gw31 Free Hit will be played.

    So no worries about the blanks and lots of doubles. It is the best way to keep pace with the ones who have used their chips already.

      Yep this is my strategy have already drafted a team with 12 doubles and triple Liverpool in 34 with a full 11 out in 35 then a few hits for 37 and hopefully wont be at too much of a disadvantage to those with all these nice chips!

    Anyone else feel frustrated that they have GW31 players that just SUCK? I'm talking about Joe Allen, Richarlison, Pickford and many more that have a GW31 fixture but are just so bad that you wonder whether another player could do better in 3 GWs rather a GW31 player in 4...
