With just four fixtures confirmed for Gameweek 31 so far, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options for this particular weekend appear thin on the ground.

Restricted to just three players from any one side, managers find themselves exploring hitherto uncharted waters in the hopes of fleshing out a starting lineup capable of returning an adequate points haul.

Though a number of us may choose to preserve our Free Hit Chips for Gameweek 35 instead – content to roll out just seven or eight players in Gameweek 31 – others may view this Gameweek as an ideal opportunity to deploy the Free Hit now in order to gain ground on the pack.

With this in mind, this Technical Area will be looking beyond the obvious candidates for filling out our Gameweek 31 squads and pinpointing some high-upside players capable of big returns.

    Davies, Trippier or Alderweireld. Basically looking for a spurs defender 5.8 or below. Who'd be the best option from the 3?

      Aldy would have been the best bet but he’s getting eased in a bit too much for my liking. I’m looking at Davies but the risks are there

      If you have a strong bench (4th DEF with good fixtures etc.) then I think you can take a punt on Davies. He definitely has an upside, bonus & assist-wise. More nailed-on than Trippier (although Aurier has been a liability).

      If not, I'd honestly skip Alderweireld until he's starting consistently and try to stretch for Vertonghen.

    Hmmm, the Season Ticker really is a load of misinforming pish sometimes isn't it? This weeks' good things Liverpool are best priced at 1/4 (2/9 in most places) and half of the top six correct score odds on their game have them rattling 3 or 4 past West Ham. No other team comes within MILES of Liverpool in terms of bookies' odds yet the Ticker rates them as the EIGHTH best option this weekend.

      The ticker is meant to highlight the quality of the opposition, not the likelihood of a win.

      Home to West Ham is judged to be the 8th easiest opponent of the weekend.

      It’s up to the individual user to layer over that their assessment of the quality of the team facing that fixture.

        In other words it could be Huddersfield or Man City with that fixture but the ticker would judge the opponent the same.

        It’s more useful for being able to identify runs of relatively easy/difficult fixtures for specific teams rather than judge who will score most in a given week.

        TotalFPL had a cracking little customisable ticker a couple of years back before it went into terminal decline. The one on here is well past it's sell by date.

          I think it serves the purpose I described and I’m quite used to using it (plus I keep my own tracker to try to gauge fixture difficulty based upon underlying stats) but if you’ve got specific suggestions for improvement then the guys in charge would definitely be receptive to hearing them 🙂

    So, I already have Firmino and Salah and am thinking I would rather have Mane over VVD for the next few weeks leading up to the blank. Reason being, I just don't see anyone else with Mane's explosiveness during the blank week and I feel like I can get by with some cheap defenders instead of VVD.

    Here is my team. Lots of problems
