Dugout Discussion – Man City vs Chelsea

After Brighton claimed a vital win over Arsenal at the Amex Stadium, Sunday’s second and final fixture sees Manchester City entertain Chelsea in the 4pm kick-off.

The league leaders boast two of the top six captain picks for Gameweek 29 in Sergio Aguero (6.8%) and Kevin De Bruyne (2.5%).

Over their last four home matches, Aguero has nine goals and 50 points in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), while De Bruyne has three sets of double-digits and 45 points.

Leroy Sane’s goal and assist at the Emirates on Thursday evening has had a significant impact on the FPL transfer market. The most bought player (235,000+) for Gameweek 29, the German international goes in search of a sixth 10+ points haul in front of his own fans.

Meanwhile, sales of Raheem Sterling look set to escalate as he misses out again. The most sold player in each of the last two Gameweeks, he was transferred out by a hefty 746,000+ during that period.

For the visitors, Eden Hazard arrives on the back of fine recent away output – he’s racked up 40 points in his previous four on the road, thanks to four goals and an assist.

The Belgian looks set to start as a “false 9” today, with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud named among the Chelsea subs.

Both Pedro and Willian start alongside Hazard, with the Brazilian, in particular, boasting fine form. Willian was bought by over 95,000 FPL managers for Gameweek 29, with last week’s opener at Old Trafford taking his tally to four strikes in the last three matches across all competitions.

Chelsea played better when they lost Bournemouth 0-3 at home than this game.

    This is just shambolic.

If you want to win a game away of home in the best league in the world your GK can’t concede 2 goals like I did today ... it’s simply not possible ... The team fought back but the damage was done .

Was set on Hazard for the wc as he's served me well this season but is Willian a better use of funds? Or worth paying for Hazard for being nailed?

Honestly dont think the strategy has been too bad. Just complete lack of quality in the final third for Chelsea. Pedro in particular ruined at least 4 good counter attacks on his own.

I guess. Must be embarrassing to watch as a fan though, Man city just knocking it about at walking pace and not a single Chelsea player applying any pressure.

Looks to me like they just conceded midfield and wanted the attacking players to save their legs for counter attacks. Of course, they could also just be lazy.

Last week was the time for Auba in for Kun according to fixtures, just the 4 goals made some folk keep...

Auba misses peno last week, a couple of decent chances and scores this week, fixtures good an blanks, but so do a lot of teams...

Time to do it this week? Or time to rid of Alonso?
