With the Paddy Paddy Cup V sewn up last week by sleepingmaster, we now turn our attention to it’s sister competition, the Members Paddy Power Cup II. Over 900 Fantasy Football Scout members signed up, with hopes of qualifying for the first round of 512. As expected, the standard was very high, and the qualifying mark was set at a lofty 82 points for Gameweek 24.

That put 494 in the hat for round one, and forced 41 fantasy managers to rely on their overall rank to earn one of the remaining 17 spots. The list of all qualifiers can be viewed right here.

On to the first round draw then, which has been made and can be viewed right here. All 256 fixtures will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 25, and the result will follow shortly afterwards.

Our reigning champ, Kippax Kikkers (formerly Kippax Kolggers), is up against leekota, as he looks to defend his title.

Elsewhere, plenty of Scouts (not me) are in the mix – Mark takes on Shimmy, G-G-Granville has drawn Shehzu, Andy will square up to Lucas that is all, it’s Big Dunc Vs. ChrisHighwind, Pure Olivia is up against djembe, Anorak‘s been paired with Primprong, and Jonty will play johnd.

The prize? Well, once again sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Remember, to claim a prize you will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Finally, if you set up an account and are going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

Captain choice is so vital. Look at the top 10 on the world. Their teams look identical to those circa 100,000 in the world. This game is 90% captain choice. There's my thought of the day 🙂

Chances are the teams at 100k have tried to copy the top teams! The game is 50% captain choice...you still need the rest of your team to score big.

        hmmm

Another element is peoples teams are the same now but who had the best team first?
I mean, who transferred the big players in BEFORE their massive points hauls....

lots of people bring em in afterwards - teams then looks the same but theyre 100 points worse off.

Not disagreeing with your captain comment, only the percentage
50% luck (or foresight) in transfers
        50% captain choice I reckon

    My team for this week...

    Vorm,
    Evans, Kelly, N.Taylor
    Silva, Sess, Bale, Valencia, Dempsey
    RVP

So my options for the other striker are Ba or Aguero who's likely to score better? Aguero not so good away from home or Ba away to spurs?

I think many people have a similar dilemma. I was actually hoping Sess would sit this one out to make my decision easy. Out of those, I'd bench Dzeko or Valencia.

past big dzeko scores were in away games, and villa hasn't kept clean sheet at H since GW 7. However ManC away form is bad now. I still think Dzeko has higher chances for big points than Valencia against pool

Got my team sorted for fantasy football interest; Given, Kompany, Richards, Aguero(probably captain).

    Repost from prev page

Worth a 4pt hit to get a defender in this week

Currently have Cahill (eve) Collocini (tot) Senderos (STO) Santon (tot) Shotton (ful)
    Playing 2 away isn’t ideal

Also is benching Aguero over Sess folly?? Arsenal don't look great defensively

It gave me enough doubt to bench Sess this week. Many are considering Aguero as a captain choice this week so I'd be playing him despite his away record.

I was certain that Aguero should be my captain but from all the posts I gather Bale or Dempsey should be...

Bale at home to a strong Newcastle...hmmm....maybe...maybe not...
Dempsey at home to Stoke...well...Can I rely on Fulham as a team to push Dempsey into the mix?
Aguero away to a leaky Villa...seemed so obvious...
    and..
RVP is obviously always an option...

Now what do I do...my gut says stick with Aguero...So what are some of the arguments you guys have had with yourselves over the options this weekend and who are you going for?

Always go with your gut. Only way to happiness.

At the end of the day, Aguero and RVP are great captain picks based on the quality of the individual player and form, and Dempsey for his home fixture, form and Stoke not being able to keep possession.

Bale is simple a freak. He can score against anyone on his day and Newcastle have conceded more shots than any other team in the past 4 gameweeks, so he can't be discounted either.

There's no stand out captain pick, imo.

Fancy Dempsey for several reasons. He's either upfront or just behind the new striker. Either way he's going to be the focal points of the attack and give you a run for your money. Plus 5pts for a goal from someone who's playing upfront is a nice feeling. Stoke are pretty poor team, missing Huth. Should have a shot at a big score at least.

Also for me personally I'm 50pts behind my mini-league leader and the guy doesnt even own Dempsey so if it comes off I can't fail to catch up some points. Fingers crossed of course.

On Aguero- He's scored 1 away goal since GW6. He's had plenty of opportunities but just always seems to draw a blank. A poor Villa DF could be just the formula though to change that......

I'll be captaining RVP as usual. Hopefully Sunderland will be knackered after their 120 minutes against Boro. Can't see Wenger benching him (if at all) until Gervinho is back from the African Cup of Nations. Bad week for my keepers though - Mignolet or Krul. Will probably be relying on save points rather than clean sheets. Any thoughts?

    RVP (C) Aguero Ba

Pros and Cons: Rvp vs Dempsey for GW25 captain.

    I'll start...

    RvP Pros:
    • He's by far the highest point scorer in the game this season.
    • He's scored 2 against Sunderland earlier in the season.
    • He's scored in 50% of his away games.
    • He's got 22 goals and 8 assists.

    RvP Cons:
    • Sunderland have clean sheets in their last 3 games (home and away).
    • Sunderland have conceded only 2 goals in their last 6 games.
    • Sunderland have clean sheets in their last 3 home games.

    Dempsey Pros:
    • He's got the home advantage and he's scored in 5 of his 12 home games so far.
    • He's in good form at the moment and often playing out of position upfront.

    Dempsey Cons:
    • He's got 10 goals and 4 assists so far (not bad) but still less than half RvP's output.
    • He failed score in Fulham's 2-0 defeat against Stoke earlier in the season.

Please feel free to add to this.

RVP Pros: Sunderland played 120 minutes midweek.

Dempsey Cons: Pogrebnyak, Dembele and Ruiz are all available, so there's a slim, and only slim, chance that he might not be OOP this week.

Sunderland have been a very different prospect since their new manager has been at the helm.

Dempsey con: Fulham lost Zamora, now Dempsey's almost alone upfront. I think his goal-scoring threat will decrease a bit now.

I agree, I don't actually think being oop and further up front helps him. Maybe it's not the best example but you saw how isolated he was at City.

He's at his best and more likely to score when he's playing off the front and getting into the space in front of the back four.

there is some truth in that. His recent mega haul was down to him running onto balls being held up or passed on by the higher up Zamora. If he's on his own that is not really his game. But if Ruiz etc are higher up and can spot his runs, as Zamora so expertly did, then he could do well.

Imust admit I'm starting to lean more to RVP and Bale now.

stoke home and away are very different propositions, as is Fulham home and away. In fact Fulham are dire away and very good at home.

But....Sunderland's 120 mins this week is a massive RVP attraction.

I may just go Bale and sod the both of them....easier that way.

This gw is causing me pain. My 70 strong league is vital and has £580 and £300 for first and second. I am top and my wife has just taken second. It's all on captain and I am struggling this week and want to push that little to get in top 1k. I keep changing my mind and think two from bale Dempsey and RVP will score 2 or less points.

Morning Guys, please can I have ur thoughts on the following:-

    Krul, Mignolet
    Kompany, Evans, Simpson, Kelly, Huth
    Silva, Dempsey, Bale, Valencia, McClean
    Aguero, RVP, Ba

    Got 2 FT’s

Thinking of doing Huth > Caulker (This will give me £s to upgrade Aguero to Rooney when Utds fixture’s improve)

Not sure if I should do Valencia to Siggy or keep the other FT?

I know we're only GW25, but if you're protecting a lead in a ML, surely it's better to captain the player who you think your rival will captain?

E.g. if you both have the same captain, this prevents (or should do, in theory) any huge difference in score.

    Am I thinking logically?
