Wisdom of the Crowd – Gameweek 31

Each week we are reviewing the aggregated predictions on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game, using the collective Wisdom of the Crowd predictions to guide our fantasy football thinking.

Please join the FFS league here and add your own predictions to the data – the more there are, the more accurate the crowd should be (in theory).

And don’t forget there is £20,000 on offer every week if you get a full house of predictions.

GAMEWEEK 30 REVIEW

Last week’s results were fairly predictable overall, with a lack of major upsets as well as big fantasy scores.

Here are the Gameweek 30 results in descending order of predictability:

John McHugh, aka SpartaBhoy won the Yellow Cap in the Fantasy Football Scout league with 8/9 correct predictions, including three exact score picks.

Mr Crowd Wisdom  – using the aggregated predictions of the crowd – is now up to 10th in the FFS pool.

The aggregated predictions of the community are making better predictions than most individual players in the game, suggesting that there is credibility in the Wisdom of the Crowd concept.

The crowd’s average picks have now taken the Crowd Wisdom user into the top 3% on the global leaderboard!

GAMEWEEK 31 PREVIEW

Here is the Expected Goals chart for each fixture in the abbreviated Gameweek 31:

And here is the ranking of teams in order of Expected Goals Scored and Conceded:

It’s Liverpool way out in front on the predicted goals chart. But what’s interesting is that Bournemouth are expected to keep it slightly tighter at the back.  This suggests that Sadio Mane might edge Virgil Van Dijk for a third Liverpool slot, alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, in terms of points potential.

Bournemouth, Everton and Huddersfield are the more-fancied teams amongst the others, although we’ll all need some luck to bring home a good score this weekend.

Here are the aggregated predictions that we’ll enter for Mr Crowd Wisdom this week.

Is there anything that catches your eye in these predictions?

Good luck!

More love for the Bournemouth backline.

Starting to wonder if I should be targeting them not Baines now? Hmm.

If I didn't have Francis I might have the same thought A.Smith v Baines.
But you'd be dragging out that big sofa of yours everytime Baines goes near a deal ball situation!

Very surprised to see Bournemouth given more chance of a clean sheet that Liverpool! 48 goals conceded this season by bournemouth v 34 from Liverpool.

It isn't so much people have looked at Bournemouth but instead they looked at WBA.

Basically not looking at the bigger picture and just assuming the bad team won't turn up.

Its definitely a case of a moveable object meeting a resistable force lol.

I don't think WBA are that much worse than Watford tbh, but I do think Liverpool are far Better than Bournemouth. I know who I'm backing for a clean sheet anyway! :-p

Yeah, I don't see Watford scoring at Anfield. And I'd only be tentatively penciling in some of those other projected away goals.

The predictions look pretty reasonable. Not expecting much from Wally this GW either -- can't wait to get rid. Hoping for no clean sheets, as going into GW with practically no defense

Seconded, I love this addition. I also enjoy picking holes in it though 🙂

Odds suggest getting in on the goal scoring outside of Liverpool and Bournemouth is a shot in the dark. I'm holding my cards as I don't think hits will be worth it this weekend.

    Choose CAPTAIN please:

    A) Mane
    B) Firmino
    C) Wilson

Only 4 of my starting XI are playing this week, so I must pick the correct captaincy option. Free hit already used.

    Thanks guys!

I think this article gets it spot on - I can see lots of 1-1 draws this week and a lot of unhappy managers as a result.
