→ The 2014/15 season was Sergio Aguero's best ever for Fantasy returns. Seven of his goals/assists and 36 of his FPL points came in two meetings with which club that year? Scout Betting

With a bag full of points from the Scout Picks last gameweek, it was a surprise to see our Paddy Power wallet containing nothing but a used train ticket and a couple of crumpled receipts. Robert Huth’s early red card set the tone, with Sergio Aguero’s goal and a win at 4/5 the only market to come in. With Talent and Watchlist figures Gylfi Sigurdsson and Yakubu Aiyegbeni the main course of this week’s Flutter, it’s sure to be a feeding frenzy of rich returns.

The Yak is back. Whilst serving his three-match ban for a red card against Fulham, Yakubu’s Blackburn have slipped from their manager-saving form, topped off by a trouncing by Arsenal last weekend. Seemingly a talisman for the Kean revival, the sorely-missed striker will be essential to their tactics against visiting QPR on Saturday. Paddy have priced up a goal and a win at 5/2 and a brace at 9/1 . Both are tempting, but £2 on the former opens our account for another game-week.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been around a bit since his early loan spells at Shrewsbury and Crewe. A 16-goal season for Reading and subsequent sale to Hoffenheim have cultured the 22 year old into a real creative force for the Swansea midfield. A pound at 20/1 for him to score and assist against visiting Norwich is a long price and a bit of a risk, but one worth taking since he performed the same feat against West Brom last week on the road.

Clint Dempsey has been the mainstay for Fantasy line-ups for many seasons now, always commanding a decent performance to Fantasy point conversion. Not a cheap prospect, but neither the lavish cost of Silva or Nani, Dempsey’s price of 8.9 is likely to continue to rise with favourable home and away fixtures coming up. A visit from Stoke may well be one of the tougher clashes of the next few, but Paddy’s offering of 5/2 on a Dempsey goal and a Fulham win is not short on confidence. A £4 stake here should bring home £14; a decent wager considering suspended Robert Huth will only be able to track Dempsey’s runs from the sidelines.

Last week’s ‘Who Will Score the Most’ market turned in a respectable 5 goals, and although our pick Demba Ba was among those on the score sheet, Robin van Persie’s battering of Blackburn left us empty handed. This week Rooney, RVP and Aguero are in the mix, but perhaps facing off against tougher competition. Aguero at 15/8 is the longest price of the trio as City travel to Villa, but with only a couple of quid left from our tenner bank roll, it might be a risk worth taking.

Money Back Special

All eyes will be on Old Trafford for the early Gameweek 25 kick-off between Man United and Liverpool tomorrow lunchtime. No surprise, then, to see Paddy focus on this one for this week’s Money Back Special. If Luis Suarez scores a goal at any point in the match, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles. Paddy have also turned their attentions to this weekend’s Six Nations Rugby. If a number 11 scores the first try in the Italy v England, France v Ireland or Wales v Scotland clashes, Paddy Power will refund all losing try scorer bets on that match.

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Been scrolling through Stoke's away form..although it's not been particularly good, it's not like they've been conceding a lot of goals per game, Kun is yet to pull anything out of the bag in terms of away form and Newcastle have one of the better defensive records in the league...Robin...I've always loved you, I don't know what I was thinking

Gut feeling coupled with my thinking that Villa is exactly the kind of defense that Silva and Aguero can carve through. I dont think the Villa mids will be able to contain the man city mids and see a lot of chances for City even if Villa try to clam up at the back.

Not completely, but I think Mancini will go for Toure and Savic in the Europa so that Savic has an experienced calm figure beside him. Lescott has only missed 3 games this season anyway.

If you don't want to get Lescott, I say do nothing.

Go to the transfers page, sort midfielders under 7.0 by Form. Look who comes top?

He's cheap, in great form and so is his team. And Sigurdsson is the only competition in the sub 5 mil category who comes close to him.
Dyer, Moses, Surman etc don't have the same upsides

Ok. I guess it depends on your answer on this question:

Who's defense is weaker: Newcastle or Stoke (both play away)?

I think Stoke is weaker. Dempsey usually scores double figures playing at home (except when hosting top 4 teams).

I think he's fit. At least I read that he was back in full training so I cant imagine why he wouldn't start.

Richards offers more attacking potential but Komp will start every game when fit.
If you think Richards will start every game then he cud well be the man to have for extra points till the end of the season. And .3 cheaper too.......depends if you wanna use a transfer on a sideways move or not.

pretty sure that given his recent form they shall probably want him to keep doing whatever he was doing

Had it on Bale all week. The vice on the other hand has been all over the place. Dempsey, RVP, Aguero, back to RVP and finally back to Dempsey.

Hmmm Dempsey's too risky for me with etherington back allowing walters to push up more, and ive now switched it to Bale, ncoz just realised newc are missing some vital players, cant beleive i missed that, and sunderland are resiliant under MON now, i'd say 1 goal at most for RVP, spurs have defoe back thus more assist potential for bale, and its at spurs, think newc will struggle there.

thats it, ive logged off now left it on bale lol.

Really tough week, keep playing with my line up...

    Currently

    Vorm(Krul)
Richards, Walker, Taiwo ( Bardsley, Caulker )
    Bale (c), Dempsey, Sess, Silva, ( Oxlade-Cham )
    RVP, Aguero Bale

At one point I benched Silva for Ox, but not convinced Ox will start... mind you, Silva might not either I guess

    Vorm
    Evans Komps Taiwo
Silva Sess Bale (C) Dempsey Sigg
    RVP (VC) Aguero
    Bench: Ba Shotton Simpson

Someone please talk some sense into me, this seems so wrong

Looks like we ll having to bench good players this week.
For first time all season might have to put Sess on bench , its either him or Caulker and dont want be left
with no Swansea defenders as nearly everyone has at least one (or the goalie)

My defence is a shambles. Will be bringing back a Citeh defender for a 4 pt hit. Do I transfer in Richards before he goes up tonight or Kompany in the morning after he goes down?

Quick poll of dead-zoners appreciated so I can then go back to bed!

Villa very dodgy on set pieces. Richards and Kompany both good in the air. Am thinking one of them might get a goal for immediate payback. If I bring in Richards my thinking is he'll tear Warnock a new one and add to his assists...

Thinking about it. If he looks like he's found his long lost shooting boots in the meantime I think I'll get him. Potentially explosive differential.

If he is the source of most of liverpool's attacking pointsmen he's a good DGW option, whenever that comes along, it's to far ahead to plan exactly

Reposting a link to a very interesting post from earlier because it helped me narrow down the captains choice somewhat... i think it might help other people do the same...

      Ok
It says the 'highest' score was a home score.
This doesn't mean there wasn't a double figure away score every week too tho, just that it was bettered by a home player.
I think the fact that Sunderland played 120 mins in midweek will have a bigger bearing than where the highest scores have been so far this season.
For me theres a better chance of RVP scoring a hatrick than Demp or Bale simply cos of his talent for putting the ball in the net.
That doesn't mean I think he'll score a hatrick, only that if I'd to put money on one it wud be RVP, even tho he's away from home.

In my opinion you're overthinking it... Captaining a home player has been nearly every week the best way to get the highest points...

Personally i think captaining RVP is more about the fear of what he might do if you dont, and that's not a great reason for giving him the armband....

I agree with you there, I nearly always captain a home player too.

I just don't really like stats like that as major decision makers, they hide a lot of other things so i just wanted to point out that away players 'can' be captain material.

And in this case RVP fresh off a hatrick V a tired Sunderland team with Turner in the middle of its defense it is a recipe for two from RVP.
Fear, not so much - I only fear players contributions when they're not even in my team but I have RVP.
