Thinking about Huth -> Raylor, benching Rangel, this week (if no other pressing injuries after the FA cup games) - would be doubling on NEW defence, but they have 2 decent fixtures up to when I wildcard in GW28 and Raylor is OOP. Any better moves? 2 free transfers and 0.0m in the bank.

I'm doing pretty much the exact same thing. So obviously I think it's a good move. I'm quite happy to double up on Newcastle defenders for the next 2.
Yeah, it seems a decent move I reckon. If you were in my shoes and likely to wildcard in GW28, would you use your other freebie this week, or save it for 2 gambles in GW27? Looking at both weeks I'm struggling to see what transfers I'd make!!

Yeah I wouldn't be highly confident, but I can't see there being many clean sheets that week anyway, so it shouldn't be a major problem, plus I just see it as having an extra midfielder anyway.

Jafooli. Let's just say that I am absolutely gutted that I got rid of him last week. Now that cabeye and tiote are back, the only position he will get a look in will be right mid. And he will be challenging for that spot with 3 other players (barfa, obertan, ferguson). But after the thrashing last week, I think he is absolutely nailed on to start the next game. Especially as Obertan was hauled off at half time. My advice would be:
1) If you have him, DEFINITELY keep. he could go huge over the next few
2) If you don't have him, and have a FT you don't know what to do with. Get him. See above.
3) If you don't have him, and have other pressing transfers, probably stay away, because he could very easily be out of the team in a few games time.
Don't read too much into Pardew's comments. 1) He was making excuses for a thrashing, 2) Sylvain Marveaux would be in the team if he was fit. So Pardew might have been talking about him as one of the 3 key midfielders, along with Cabeye and Tiote. He is one of 3 first team squad players out for the season with injury (Saylor, Marveaux, Best), as well as Sammi Ameobi who looked like he was making a break through. Talk about bad luck!!
Any spurs fans out there? I was just wondering if Walker is still getting in the positions to match BAE's output? Looks like BAE's price will be silly high by the time I will want a spurs defender in (GW31?), and my mini league leader has BAE. Would Walker be a decent bet as a differential? He is the 3rd highest scoring defender. But I really don't know where he has picked up the points as it seems to be all about BAE. What about a punt on Dawson? Or will Harry continue to rotate his centre backs? I would have thought that he will be pushing to start most games, as he will have his eye on the euros.
I might be totally wrong here, but personally I still don't think there is much between BAE and Walker. BAE has just recently had a bit of a purple patch. It's only this side of the new year that he has really done anything.
Having said that, I was slightly confused when I saw BAE take a free kick against your lot. Perhaps Harry has decided to get him in a more attacking role than Walker, unless they were just taking the pish as they were finding it so easy.
The way I see it, essentially Walker and BAE have similar roles.
However, with Bale being in a much freer role, BAE has suddenly a bigger responsibility of providing threat on the flank. And this seem to have given him some form. I must also say, he plays at the top of his career at the moment. Both defensively (not saying that much) and offensively.
Walker's job is essentially the same, but after an almost sensational start to his first regular season at Spurs, his quality has slumped a bit of late. His crosses has are not as good as BAE, for one.
So to sum it up, they both bombard their wings, but BAE seem to have better form and thrives in bigger responsibility.
Over time, I think they are equal FPL wise.

wont piggyback too much, but yes both have attacking threat. Just checked your keepers, might i suggest Friedel instead, possibly as a sorensen repalcement in a few weeks? Cheaper than bae or walker, always will play, quietly top of the keepers now, can play virtually every week from gw29 on. you can use mignolet gw 30.
oh and just stay away from CBs
That's what I thought. Too much rotation risk for cb? Problem with the keeper is that my mini league leader lucked onto Friedal (and BAE). I think that they are a big part of his 95 point lead over me. Need to really go different to him to try and claw it back.
does he have any pool? maybe in a couple weeks work toward doubling up on pool defenders?
Am looking at getting Walker, Enrique and Evans in between GW28 - 31. He has Skrtel.
How can BAE price be sky high ? hes very cheap , Clearly Tottenham are different class this season , and with Bale moving inside more is BAE who is reaping the reward.

The trouble with this is I have it all planned in advance, and quite a few times this season a player has started doing well just before fixtures suggest they are worth getting, driving their price up and ensuring that everyone already has them by the time I get them. It looks like happening now with Rooney. I've planned Aguero -> Rooney for gw28 since before Christmas.

Didn't catch the Arsenal game last night - anyone stand out for Arsenal, or were they all poor?
It was a lame overall performance but the worst performers were our central midfield, Rosicky, Verm and Ramsey IMO. Never passed our way into the game and never really looked like scoring - whereas AC could have had 6 or 7, they tore our high line apart with our supply failing from the back. Ox did his best and seemed like the only guy with spark. Henry and RVP were poorly served and looked jaded. Overall, close to the worst performance of the season.
PS Walcott was anonymous but need I say it lol.

so it comes down to our keeper and two defenders. lets say krul cancels out my santon.
so now its just sorensen and vermaelen vs taiwo and g cahill. plus he gets 4 extra points for home tie.
if cahill starts im fecked. so i can probably only win by picking the right captain, and if he picks the same, im really screwed. its nice to have the entire gw play out in your head and know your entire team/chance of winning is choosing a captain. Kinda diminishes the overall fun of the game when it basically comes down to armband selection and nothing else. 🙁

Just had a look at the spreadsheet and the draw etc., and I have to say very well done for putting it all together, it's a great idea and I, for one, am pretty excited about it...
I think it is a much better concept than the straight knockout like the one on here where I went out straight away in a freak low scoring week...
Also, good luck to my fellow competitors, especially 4vets, whom I will be pitting my wits against this coming GW... 😉

Initially I wanted to implement another idea actually - Basically 2 FPL managers team up and cumulatively contribute to the score of these teams. 64 FPL teams 32 representative teams. But that would be more work. Ha! Maybe next season - I have a pact with Pratik if we both are around, we'll start this format from the outset 😉
That's a good idea... it would mean less people being turned away due to lower rankings...
Although if you were considering starting it from an earlier position next year, you would surely need to consider another entry parameter - maybe this years final overall ranking - since the chances of anyone being up top in the first few lottery weeks is slim at best...
That's one of the things that hurt me in this process - turning friends, FFS gold contributors, etc. I know there are still quite a few people who'd be interested, but missed out cos they weren't around FFS for this one day. 😕
That's a great suggestion, Zep. Though would that mean, say 'NO' to first-season FPLers? This is my first season too and I wouldn't want to be turned down based on that? Maybe we could have a quota for first-season FPLers (say 6 out of 64) and then use the overall rank to scout the best 6 newbies. Also, not sure how many people who're active on FFS this season will return the next. Any idea on that front - 50%?
