With confirmation of John Terry’s exploratory operation this evening, along with the injury to Jose Bosingwa’s in the 3-1 defeat in Naples, we’ve seen some movement on our Watchlist. With Terry potentially facing up to six weeks or more on the sidelines, Gary Cahill looks to have the opportunity to cement his a starting role in the centre of the Chelsea back four ahead of a favourable trio of fixtures.

A possible absence for Jose Bosingwa would also strengthen Cahill’s claims. Lining up at left-back in tonight’s 3-1 defeat to Napoli, the much criticised Bosingwa was forced off on 11 minutes with what was thought to be a hamstring injury. A spell on the sidelines would surely see Branislav Ivanovic continue in the right-back role for the foreseeable future, paving the way for Cahill to partner David Luiz in the centre of Andre Villas-Boas’ defence. It’s also interesting to note that Cahill was included on the teamsheet, at the expense of Luiz, left behind at Chelsea’s hotel prior to tonight’s game. Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed post-match that the scribbles were genuine.

Given the absence of Terry and the recent form of the Chelsea back four, the prospect of defensive returns from a Blues defender would seem bleak. However, Chelsea have conceded five goals in their last five league games, keeping two clean sheets – three of those five goals conceded were also against United. More significantly they welcome both Bolton and Stoke to Stamford Bridge in the next three, with a trip to West Brom providing the filling in a sandwich of fixtures that looks appealing.

Both Bolton and Stoke rank amongst the most impotent attacks right now. The Trotters have scored just a single goal in their last three league games, while Stoke have notched just two goals in their last five. West Brom meanwhile, despite fetching five at Molineux last time out, have scored just three goals in their last five matches in front of their home fans.

With clean sheets at a premium outside of United and City, the statistics clearly indicate that Chelsea, despite the obvious frailties on show, have decent defensive prospects over the next three and with Cahill available for 5.2, he is the cheapest member of the rearguard. The former Bolton man will also bring a proven goal threat at set-plays, to help fill the void left by his skipper Terry – scorer of four goals this term.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anticipating the City line up tonight! Will you make any changes depending on what happens tonight?

    I'm contemplating....
Richard > Kompany if Richards starts
    Aguero(C) > Ba(C) depending on minutes played

Richards seems to always play City's home games if he's ready. The reason why he plays less away is because Mancini can be too cautious sometimes. At home, he seems much less so and City attack most of the game, especially vs the weaker teams. I'll be amazed if he doesn't play these next 2.

Aguero, for me, is the best (C) pick possible this GW and I have Ba (vc)

Now the captains poll is skewed because most FFS's don't have Rooney yet. As I don't have Aguero who should I captain

    Ba or Rooney

Beausejour for Wigan, he is a genuine decent FPL pick or just a random player who has happened to have a few odd good games in close proximity to each other?

Valencia > Beausejour could be an option but so too could Valencia > Mata.

I already have 3 City players and 3 Newcastle.

I was burned by Taarabt earlier this season.

Few odd games like Mcarthur also! Primarily playing as a wing back, still think Moses is the best Wigan option and gives you an extra player come GW29! Mata is more tempting but depends on your future plans which way to go!

thenews about everton liverpools potential scheduling in gwk29 and subsequent blanks for arsenal and qpr that week makes rvp to rooney a very tempting proposition this week

i could then wildcard for gwk30 and fit rvp back in at a 0.6m loss

Help please on rating these transfers.

I have 2 transfers this week

    a) Valencia & Dzeko > Siggurdsson and Aguero
    b) Valencia & Dzeko > Mata and Yakubu
    c) Valencia & Huth > Mata and Santon
    d) Valencia & Huth > R Taylor and Siggurdsson

    Current team is

    Krul, Lindegaard
Richards, Huth, J Evans, Taiwo, Kelly
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Valencia, Sess
    RVP, Dzeko, Ba

Leaning towards a or b at the moment as Huth is back next week, so would still get one of the games he was brought in for.

I think a lot of big names have been injured/rotated this year
I'd lose Helgusson personally. Senderos should be back by next weeks plum fixtures, Valencia was given 4 weeks, but has done 11/2 already.

    Morning all
    Subs dilemma for UCL tonight...

Kroos, Rafinha, Gomez, Frei to play

Lowest scorers Benzema 1, Manduca 1, Gaitan 3
    1 free space

If all are confirmed starting shall I play Rafinha and bench Gaitan

Good evening mate. I have the same kind of dilemma. I would take the risk benching Gaitan. My situation is this: Leave Charalambides' 3 points or sub him for either Fabian Frei or Nagatomo? Goddamn neither of my keepers playing...
