The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

The slightly truncated Gameweek 26 will see 256 Fantasy managers go head-to-head in round two of the Members Paddy Power Cup II. The draw has been made, and the full set of 128 fixtures can be viewed right here.

Reigning champion Kippax Kikkers‘ second assignment is against Sounerous. It appears that our holder been biding his time waiting for the opportunity to defend his crown, after notching a season-high rank of 81,072nd in the world last week.

The Scout Contributor contingent has significantly dwindled since the qualifying round, but there are still some representatives in the mix. Jonty takes on joe90, Big Dunc has drawn Gaffer john, Pure Olivia is up against Kissthebadge!, and Anorak faces Bedok. Good luck guys.

All ties will be played over Gameweek 26, and the results will be posted a day or two after the Gameweek has concluded.

Excellent, following last week's Jo(h)n(d)ty derby I'm now embroiled in a Joe derby...that being my real name.

the news about everton liverpools potential scheduling in gwk29 and subsequent blanks for arsenal and qpr that week makes rvp to rooney a very tempting proposition this week

i could then wildcard for gwk30 and fit rvp back in at a 0.6m loss

would that pretty much guarantee all gw29 games cant be rescheduled in the same gw? if thats the case, im in for a lovely headache planning my transfer strategy

just everton v arsenal and qpr v liverpool would definitely not be playable that gameweek, the rest still could

Guess it's a simple Kun > Roo swap for most of us. Wouldn't want to incur so much loss just for a GW.

there would be a lot of people swapping rvp out so the loss might not be that much anyway

i would only do it if a wildcard was still available, if not itd be tough to get him back in

Highly doubt it if many people will swap him out just cos of one blank week (maybe a 0.1/0.2 drop). Also it's a 0.8 loss for me - wouldn't remove RVP with the reason of a blank DGW, until I find use of the funds somewhere else and Arsenal's form seems to affect RVP.

I understand having a WC makes it easy (I love it that I've saved it for the DGWs too), but it's quite insane to sell & make such a huge loss in one week. After all, maybe for 0 extra points.

So basically now is not the time to ditch Liverpool and Everton players as they are so far among only a handful of guarenteed games. Now is the also not the time to have anyone from QPR and Arsenal except RVP.

I can handle benching RVP, but certainly won't be investing in QPR and anyone else from Arsenal.

Looks like Skrtl stays in my team.

          no everton- check

          no liverpool- check

          no qpr - check

rvp and verm- looking for a reason to ditch verm by gw 28, was put off that his fixtures brightened then, but now no worries. just leaves RVP. hmmm

Repost as lost on the last one

Help please on rating these transfers.

I have 2 transfers this week

    a) Valencia & Dzeko > Siggurdsson and Aguero
    b) Valencia & Dzeko > Mata and Yakubu
    c) Valencia & Huth > Mata and Santon
    d) Valencia & Huth > R Taylor and Siggurdsson

    Current team is

    Krul, Lindegaard
Richards, Huth, J Evans, Taiwo, Kelly
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Valencia, Sess
    RVP, Dzeko, Ba

Leaning towards a or b at the moment as Huth is back next week, so would still get one of the games he was brought in for.

Ah yeah that's what I'm thinking, it was just the A "out of that lot" implied, you felt there could be better transfers.

If Aguero plays both of those games, it could prove very profitable and I would actually consider starting Siggursson over Dempsey this weekend.

It was reported he would be out for 2 weeks with groin strain and hence we have had a 2 week break from last game it is possible he is fit for the weekend. No further news as far as Im aware and I've been searching for it, will have to wait for Jols press conference. I'm more concerned with Hughes retaining his place even if Senderos is fit as all the Fulham fans are for this happening!

Jinxed the old post, so here goes again. 😉

    Subs dilemma for UCL tonight…
Kroos, Rafinha, Gomez, Frei to play
Lowest scorers Benzema 1, Manduca 1, Gaitan 3
    1 free space
If all are confirmed starting shall I play Rafinha and bench Gaitan?

Thought I never qualified when I read that the limit to enter was 81 points (thinking that I had to have more than this). But now I noticed my name in the list AND that I also got through the last round. Oh the Joy! 😀

Never had much luck with hangover cures to be honest. Although I did try that one with the raw egg and the worcestershire sauce. It game back up again pretty fast, but on the other hand, my form got nettet and better afterwards.

I guess I should change "drink" to "beverage", might perhaps make my point clearer. Although I an considering shortening the name altogether, guess it's way too kong at the moment. 😛

tarantino has lifted a lot of his storytelling devices from previous works. but unlike most directors who intend to cash in on something popular, he would pay homage to something off the radar, and make it even better.

was just watching inglorious basterds again the other day. its amazing how many similarities there are to the film Red Dawn. (which is apparently being remade btw).

i remember by the time i was in college, studying film, it became uncool to shower tarantino with praise. Probably the early stages of hipster backlash. But coming up on 20 years now, i think its safe to say Pulp Fiction deserves its spot amongst the masterworks of cinema.

anyway i may be rambling, just got a bit nostalgic for a second. been doing that too often lately. Everything that seems yesterday is now 20 years old.

So it looks like the only blanks in 29 will be Arsenal and QPR?

Seeing as the vast majority of people have just RVP from Arsenal and 0 or 1 players from QPR - is there any point in selling RVP?

Again the majority of here aren't members of the Ferguson and De Laet club so will have starters on the bench anyway,

Beausejour a better option than Moses?

With Wigan having a game in GW29 and with a run coming up of:
    VILLA SWANSEA Norwich WBA

I'm thinking of taking a punt and getting him in for Valencia.

He's assisted 2 goals in 3 games so whilst I've not seen much of him in action, he seems to be doing more than Moses FPL wise.

He must be doing something right though and I think a lot of successful runs gives him a better chance of BPs as well.

Moses has done bugger all at home FPL wise this season... 3 games in their next 4 suggests Moses aint a good option.

Who to bring in for Huth this week for the next 3-4 GWs before I wildcard?

    a) Cahill (no CHE coverage at present and they have decent fixtures)
    b) Raylor (currently my favoured option, but means doubling on NEW defence, and he's a rotation risk)
    c) JEvans (Great value and leaves a bit in the bank for future transfers.

    Sorenson, Schwarzer
    Kompany, Simpson, Rangel, Caulker, Huth

    1) With GW 29, obviously there is the possibility that the games will be rescheduled for the middle of that week anyway, but if not, I'm not really sure what the best strategy is ... to WC before (or in GW 28 as I had planned) and taking out many players who won't play but perhaps leaving myself with a weaker squad? ... to WC straight after and build transfers before up to that week? Or any other suggestions?

    2) I want a MNC defender for the next two instead of Baines (don't ask) but not sure whether to go Richards or Komps. My logic is, if I WC GW28, I can stick Komps in for the reliable starts but may go Richards next two for the potential attacking points. Good logic?

    3) When is the right time to get Rooney in, and who to drop? I'd planned on getting him in GW 28 for Aguero with WC, but RVP's immediate fixtures are poor and he's not playing GW 29 ... so is it mad to consider dropping RVP over Aguero and if not, when?!

Sorry if all this has been talked about loads but I'd really appreciate a little more discussion. Cheers lads 🙂

      1) Plan now to cover it with 11 players and then WC after to load up on players who will have DGWs coming up/decent fixtures.

      2) Kompany

      3) How much did you pay for RVP? Are you relatively cash rich? If you are going to ditch RVP for Rooney I'd guess this week is the one to do it but if not then as part of 1) Plan Aguero > Rooney for that week.

Cheers Mac, very helpful, especially the advice on 1. I paid 11.9 for RVP and atm am not THAT cash rich ... I fancy ARS - TOT to be relatively high scoring so I guess I'll stick with Aguero > Rooney when I wildcard, or just before. Cheers 🙂

    Team for this GW:

    Krul
    Taiwo, Kompany, Evans, Simpson
    Silva, Bale, Sess, Sigurdsson
    RVP, Ba

    Mignolet | Morison, Verm, Valencia

    1FT & 0.0m in bank.

Thinking of doing Verm to Richards after City's Europa game today and would play him over Taiwo. Doubling up on City defense for next couple of weeks. Thoughts?

Ok, not sure how many of these I’ll do but there are a few theories regularly bandied around which have may or may not have any basis in fact and this has set me wondering how many of them really do have any substance. First up…

FACT OR FICTION #01 - NEVER PICK A CAPTAIN IN AN EARLY KICK OFF

Simple superstition, fear of a bad start to the gameweek, bad past experiences? Whatever the reason there is a definite core of managers who will always shy away from putting the armband on a player taking to the pitch in a Saturday lunchtime kick off.

Many swear by the ‘fact’ that these games are somehow slower and less incident packed and so the fantasy returns on offer are correspondingly lower, but do the stats back this up?

(For the purposes of this research I have deemed an early kick off as any match which kicks off significantly earlier than the others on the main match day (Saturdays and festive periods). I’ve ignored early kick offs on Sundays where there were matches on the Saturday since this doesn’t seem to concern people in the same way.)

To date in 2011/12 there have been 20 matches which have kicked off in the dreaded Saturday lunchtime fixture slot and these have yielded 62 goals at an average of 3.10 goals per game. This compares to 651 goals from 230 games kicking off at other times at a rate of 2.83 goals per game.

This is not an insignificant difference and clearly goes against the prevailing wisdom. In fact it appears to suggest that actually an early captain choice is more likely to pay off than other options.

Of course this is not a huge sample size and this season may be bucking the trend, so let’s look at 2010/11: The early kick offs last year yielded 84 goals from 26 games at a rate of 3.23 goals per game as compared to 979 goals from 354 other games at a rate of 2.77 goals per game.

Clearly this strengthens the argument that early kick offs are actually a richer source of goalmouth action than is the norm.

Obviously, this is all an extremely broad level analysis which fails to take into account plenty of other factors but nevertheless, on this occasion the verdict is:

FICTION - don’t blame your bad captain choice on the time of day they play - it’s simply poor selection! 😉

    (Cue a lot of tl;dr posts 🙂 )

It's also the ability to predict which way those goals will go though. Do 'stronger' teams tend to score just as well in early kick offs or are there more goals in the opposite direction?
Good analysis for the surface level of goals scored but thats only half the FPL story.

BTW I agree it is Fiction.

love it. most people actually choose another captain because they find it more fun to have their captain play last. my answer to this is that we don't play for fun. we play to win.

I think there's a psychological thing about having your captain coming to save the day at the end of the GW - people preferring the 'two in the bush' option if you will.

Exactly. And, conversely, there is nothing worse than your captain playing first and getting 2 points while all your rivals' captains are yet to play!

So if Chelsea-City gets called off, it looks like I'll have to get rid of one of: McClean, Bale, RVP, Silva... No guesses who I'm planning on transferring out then(McClean)! but I'm not sure who for! If I do all my other planned transfers I'll have 5.0 in the bank... If only Valencia was nailed on... otherwise just get siggy for Mcclean?

I'llbe bringing in Wayne and probably another United player and maybe Ba this week and also Moses but apart from nothing reallly jumps out at me so that would leave just the 9??

I guess i should get one more in maybe a WBA given they have useful fixtures around then..

It would be ideal. Unfortunately it is almost certainly just a case of managing th expectations of fans hoping to see Rooney against Ajax when, in reality, SAF is just planning to rest him (possibly others) now that they have the 2 goal lead. They have to do this as it is often more casual fans who attend these games that will be disappointed when their favourite player is out.
