The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

Gameweek 14 of the Fantasy Premier League season saw the quarter-finalists in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, battle it out for a place in the cash-rich semi-finals. Also at stake this week was of course another free £25 bet courtesy of our sponsors. Here is how it played out…

1 – tippman 65 – 62 User

2 – DRP 70 – 61 DollyDaisy

3 – The Von 71 – 59 DaFoe22

4 – gooner dave 75 – 56 sandgrounder

The first, and closest, tie of the round was the lowest-scoring, as tippman edged out User with the only winning score below 70. Despite reaching the semi-finals, tippman is in somewhat of a bad run, having got his fifth consecutive red arrow. He now finds himself as the lowest-ranked manager left in the competition.

Then we had last week’s top-scorer, DollyDaisy, go the same way as all previous top-scorers, out of the competition. A late Tim Cahill revival wasn’t anywhere near enough to recover the damage done the day before by Carlos Tevez. His exit paves the way for 2,682nd in the world (and highest-ranked manager remaining) DRP to reach the final four.

Next up was The Von‘s comfortable 71 – 59 victory over DaFoe22. After his first two drops in the rankings in the last two weeks, The Von pulled out a green arrow, largely thanks to Rafael Van der Vaart and Kevin Davies.

Bringing up the rear was gooner dave‘s trashing of sandgrounder 75 – 56, which was the widest margin of victory and the highest aggregate scoring tie of the round. With an impressive score of 75, gooner dave picks up a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power. Sandgrounder also picks up the unfortunate award of the lowest-score of the round.

So that’s our final four, and four nationalities are represented. Flying the flag for England is The Von, tippman is the last remaining Irishman, DRP hails from India and gooner dave is out in Germany.

I’m sure you’ll join me in congratulating the big four on their achievement, and commiserating the four leaving the competition at this stage. I’ll bring you news of the draw for the semi-finals on Thursday, which will take place in gameweek 15. And remember, a win next week guarantees you a free £100 Paddy Power bet.

            Elmo to Konchesky!!

Not even going to play Konchesky this week, but the original plan was to save two transfers for next week, one of which would have been Elmo > Konchesky, but I did it early before Elmo's price went down, to save 0.1.

Barring any injuries, that will be my only change this week. Probably Foster > Gordon next week.

I'm already in jamsiep's one (cheers for the invite, btw, jp), can't really be arsed to do 2, otherwise I'd be in. Actually, Granville narrowly beat me in the Ryder Cup one, so maybe I'll try to get some revenge!

    Folks,

If anyone is interested in playing a fantasy game for the Ashes, I've set up a league on the Cricinfo website. The game itself is pretty good, and basic, the only drawback is the invitation system. Rather than having a league code for people to enter, the invitations are all done by email, so if you want to take part you'll need to receive an email from the admin - me! Instead of posting your email on here for preying eyes to see - you can if you want - drop me an email at beastlypriestly@hotmail.com (I set up the account when I was 12, hence the ridiculous name) and I'll get back to you ASAP with an invite.

Should be good fun, and I doubt people are going to take it too seriously... Especially greghammer who's gone for the bold move of having Panesar in his team! Noob.

I don't really do first goal scorer bets, but Ibrahimovic should be a good bet to score today against Auxerre imo. Milan need points and he's basically the only player that scores goals for them.

I'll have a punt on Ibra to score anytime today, so at least if anyone follows me I will have lost as well.

          Blah! 🙂

I just think you should make a more sensible bet - because even if the odds are obviously greater there is no real way you can tell in which order players will score. Take the anytime goal scorer bet if you want to play goal scorers. I'm backing Ibra myself, he'll get one.

Roy Hodgson has had a great deal of influence on Swedish football. He and Bob Houghton went to coach over here in the 70's and are basically the ones credited with why Sweden have played much like England between 75-2007 or so, where we have taken a more continental route and trying to work more with youngsters and play a more passing game.

The influence those two have had on Swedish football can not be overestimated. Houghton won an award just a couple of weeks ago on or annual football 'gala', for the good things he's done for us.

Had a few small bets on 1st goalscorer in the Chelsea game

Backed Drogba & laid Anelka & Kalou who are on the bench.
