Best Burnley players to sign on FPL in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

The vast array of budget options at Burnley last season has seen their players receive some price hikes, which may change our perception of their performances in 2018/19.

The underlying defensive numbers and some appealing early-season fixtures mean that Nick Pope and his centre-backs are still factoring in Fantasy plans at this stage.

Going forward there was surprisingly underwhelming attacking data considering that both Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood showed they could be a decent third striker in Fantasy teams.

Fantasy Football Scout members can now read on as we delve deep into the numbers from 2017/18 to weigh up the best players to look at now that the new game has launched.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

If you are only playing 3 in midfield anyway, I'd strip some fat off Gudmondson and up grade Walcott or Dilva or both.

Hey mates, switching back to WC if I may, from the more experienced players what's the better strategy at this stage to rotate between 2 good keepers or just play it out with one?

And if only one keeper, where would you prioritize the extra man in Midfield or Defense? Already have 3 forwards.

    Cheers!

    1. OldBenKenobi
      • 7 Years

Been playing with 1 GK for last few rounds now (Pickford) 😉
Think it’s better to rotate 1 or 2 mids/defendsers instead but that was when you could still get 4.0 GKs as fodder.
There’s more value in GKs and DFs now so I’d stick to rotating them instead (in your case)

I think people really need to consider going with players who haven't played in quarter finals onwards of world cup or haven't played in it at all. Players who are still there now are going to be very doubtful for gw1 imo

...but one that takes penalties...in a team where Zaha and Townsend have trouble standing upright.

            But if they do...ch-ching!

He does a bit more in for the team than Xhaka in open play going forward. Xhaka is a sideways passer and long range shooter. Milli could actually get assists on a counter attack, for example.

          Whoooooooosh

That said, at 5.0 I'll prefer whichever of TAA and Clyne make it to first choice (if they ever do), plus Matip has not much attacking threat

            • 7 Years

Mate he's not even back from injury yet. Lovren is also ahead of him in the pecking order, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Plus Gomez will likely be featuring at CB more regularly this year and he looked good against Chester the other day (albeit it was Chester) so wouldn't surprise me to see him lining up next to Van Dijk first game of the season. Ignore this guy, do not pick Matip it'd be stupid.

He's dreadful mate, even when he does play he's shaky as heck. I'd have sold him and signed Pavard if I was Klopp been saying this since March when he got injured. Either Pavard or De Ligt should have been brought in with Matip being sold back to Germany for £20m. I can still hope...

He doesn't. He's behind Lovren in the pecking order even when he's fit which isn't that often lately. Though Lovren being late back from World Cup probably will mean he won't start the first game of the season. I'd honestly expect Joe Gomez to start next to Van Dijk

What are you talking about? How does his history at transfer market have anything to do with if he's the preferred CB. You understand I'm a Liverpool fan and I follow this club incredibly closely. I can tell you for a 100% fact Lovren is the first choice partner to Van Dijk not Matip, you're talking out your rear pal.

    2. Jsadler95

He's not even back from injury yet. I'd honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Gomez above him in the pecking order come first game of the season.

Which is fine but you're still wrong about him being first choice over Lovren. Any Liverpool fan will tell you Lovren is Klopp's preferred partner to Van Dijk. If Gomez has a good pre season at CB (where he'll likely feature most) then he could also take over Matip who looked very shaky next to Van Dijk near enough every game he played (and I'd know because I watched every single one last season).

    Just looking subjectively at pricing

This time last year, the 8.0 9.0 range really stood out looking at midfield choices. This year, it seems kind of threadbare. Where the value seems to lie this time is in 7.0 - 6.0. I can name 4 6.5 mids alone that could have a lot of potential. This, added with the clear attempt to make third strikers viable again makes me think that premium mids might be harder to justify this time around, as we had less budget options really (last year, the only 6.5 was Tadic).

That's why 523 was the way to go last year, but this year we can afford 553 🙂

Imo 4-4-2 was better, or 5-3-2. There were lots of good premium mids after all

In hidsight there were yes, but I was pretty convinced that Jesus, Lacazette and Kane would do the business

I remember looking at your pre season team and thinking what on earth!

It kind of did work out a bit tbf to you, the 5 man defence worked out nicely iirc

    1st draft -

    Ederson, Speroni.
    Robertson, Coleman, Mee, Cedric, Malone.
    Salah, D.Silva, Mkhy, Cairney, Masuaku.
    Aguero, Firmino, Tosun.

    Am I getting there?

Mkhi has good potential for his price but starts against city and Chelsea so he’s a no from me atm

I know what you mean, that is off putting but it saves making a transfer to get him in, in GW 3. Not sure who else I would want round about that price bracket.

Already got Tosun & Coleman, so not sure about Theo.
Delofeau could be an option, but hes frustrating to own

Don't peak too early. You wanna "get there" minutes before the GW1 deadline 🙂

I’d go Richarlison to Deulofeu then use the 1.0 to upgrade your defence. A good team though.

How big of an impact do we think this is going to have on the GW1 to GW3 line-ups ?? The players below are surely untouchable on inital drafts right?

PL players who will be involved with their national team until the 14/15th of July, meaning a reduced rest period as well as a shortened pre-season, with a few likely to be late back:
    9:
    - Spurs: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Dembele, Alli & Kane.
    7:
    - Chelsea: Courtois, Cahill, Kante, RLC, Hazard, Batshuayi & Giroud.
    - Man City: Walker, Stones, Kompany, Mendy, Delph, KDB & Sterling.
    - Man United: Jones, Young, Pogba, Fellaini, Lingard, Rashford & Lukaku.
    3/4:
    - Liverpool: Mignolet, TAA, (Lovren) & Henderson.
    2:
    - Leicester: Maguire & Vardy.
    1:
    - Arsenal: Welbeck.
    - Burnley: Pope.
    - Everton: Pickford.

0: Bournemouth, Brighton, Cardiff, CPalace, Fulham, Huddersfield, Newcastle, Southampton, Watford, West Ham & Wolves.

Likely a bigger issue for Spurs than the rest as on any given match day that 9 + 2 others could well be their starting team.

Seems like there's plenty of choice for a 3rd forward this year.

    Zaha, Tosun, Arnie, Barnes, Wood.

Which 4.5 to get along with Fabianski? I guess Southampton and Crystal Palace too risky, who will start?
Maybe find way for Ederson +4.0?

I’m going with Ederson and a 4m. Set and forget. The way I see it Man City will be in the top 2/3 teams for clean sheets and he passes the ball like a playmaker which equals more baps

What are you doing different this season?

I will care a lot less about fixtures and more about form, quality and nailedness. Missed out on many hauls because I got too fancy and fixture oriented. I think people who stay away from Arsenal for the first 2 fixtures could get burned hard if they do well and players lke Ramsey and Mkhi rise. City wont be full strength and Chelsea are inconsistent.

Less hits and if I take them then they need to be calculated long term. Did okay last year, was my first proper season and got 75k OR. Want to go for top 10k this year. Will basically do things very similar to last year, just will try to be more knowledgeable and better planned.

I'd imagine it's because after that their fixtures are golden, and just because a fixture is tough doesn't mean there won't be goals in them.

Bellerin is a strange one though I agree

Bellerin is a very attacking, nailed-on wing-back in a potentially transformed side. And he's priced at 5.5

Arsenal barely have 1.25 CBs, I doubt they'll play with 3 atb and wingbacks.
