Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Jorginho is a very good player, but just can't see him as a good fpl option.
Better to go with Cairney, who plays as a #8 or #10 and could be on pens.

I'm concerned that Coleman will struggle to keep many clean sheets - an issue if you are paying out 5.5mil for a defender! 😆

They've been very poor defensively pre-season. Marco Silva prefers to attack than defend, so I doubt they'll be fantastic either way

  11. TAT

Looks solid, @Niemi! Don't have the guts to go with two 4.0's myself, I think, and still undecided on a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2.

Speaking of; I need some suggestions on this team:
    Foster
    Tomkins - Robertson - D. Luiz
    Salah - Mahrez - Jota - Mané
    Aubameyang - Tosun/Zaha/Arnie - King
(Hamer - Boly (or other 4.5), Stephens, Peltier

The 7.0 striker spot is really difficult to settle on, as is the 4.5/4.0 goalie situation and D. Luiz. Surely avoid Chelsea if Courtois leaves?

    Thanks!

No attacking City players is a big risk - They are the big goal scoring team, and the most likely to score a ton in multiple games. I'd consider downgrading a premium, ie Sanchez, to a City mid and upgrade Stephens or Peltier 🙂

Really disappointed with Sane’s pre-season - lack of appearances and an underwhelming performance in the CS.

Feels close to the final straw for my 4xMNC team, after Deulofeu disappearing off the face of the Earth and Bettinelli seemingly losing his place to Fabri.

Do you think it’s still worth holding onto this, I won’t be able to make a transfer without losing a MNC player:

      Fabianski
      Mendy TAA Tomkins Coleman
      Mahrez Sane Mane
      Aguero Firmino Tosun

      Bettinelli Stephens Cedric Deulofeu

        TAA isn't nailed.

I'd probably get rid of Mahrez. No point in having a player you'll be forced to transfer out. You're well covered with Sane and Aguero and Mendy.

        The rest looks good.

Believe it or not, RMTs pre-date even the Scout.

Looks great. Just be wary of Mahrez rotation.

Could be Bilva and then Lowton instead of Peltier and 0.5mil to upgrade Stephens to Cairney.

Only concern is one city and a rotation risk at that. Having said that I think only kdb is nailed

light and too much dependence on pool on midfield? bernardo silva was sharp but too much rotation risk under pep i guess and he played deep against chelsea.

Not sure how I can beef up my Midfield tbh, I was planning on rotating Kenedy & Cairney.

B.Silva is risky but if I upgrade to someone like Mahrez, I'll have to try & save 1.5 million from elsewhere which seems to be quite hard.

      RMT Please?

      Ederson
      Mendy Robo Jagielka
      Salah Sanchez Richarlison Gudmundsson
      Aguero Tosun Arnie

      Hamer AWB Daniels Chalobah

NOTE: I've changed the 6.5-7 MID at least 5 times already...Richarlison, Jota, Mkhit, Pedro.
      Much appreciated!

this is really a great team i think. richarlison is the best bet between the lot np there. rotating keepers prove to get more or less the same points for an extra 0.5 but its arguable if you'd need them. this is sort of the team i wanted to build. extremely solid methinks

      RMT would be appreciated

      Patricio / Hamer
      Mendy / Robertson / Baily / AWB / Peltier
Mane / Eriksen / BSilva / Richarlison / Hudson Odoi
      Aguero / Aubamayang / King

Isn't that too cheap on GK's?
      Should Peltier become 4.5 def?
      Is stronger bench needed?

Hudson odoi pointless given it is a transfer in waiting plus you wouldn’t start him. Rest is fantastic apart from the obvious elephant in room !!

Thank you for opiniom. Hudson Odoi id curious case on my opinion. Historia price might rise when people realise that he is viable option to Chelsea's offense, however, he might list his owners when safer options will be fighter out.

Not sold on that GK duo. You need to be really solid at every position with a Salah-less team. I'd personally prefer more flexibility with your defense, I've gone the Mendy, Robo, 4.5, 4.5 AWB route - 2 locked in, 4.5 rotation, AWB for good measure.

I'm planning to play 3-4-3. Having two premium, one United defenders and AWB with good fixtures as a backup seems pretty good to me.
Sadly, I agree on GKs. The thing is taht I'm happy without the rest and can't see areas to downgrade. Any ideas?

Not sold on 2 x 4 million Defenders plus Shaw, I think that maybe a few transfers waiting to happen.

The Midfield looks great, I keep changing my mind between Richarlison & Tosun.

I'm inclined to play 3-4-3 as there is plenty of value from 6 - 7 million forwards.

I'm fairly settled on this. My only worry is Ryan vs Patricio and Aubameyang vs Aguero.

      Ryan

      Robertson Bailly Mendy

      Bilva Mane Salah Richarlison

      Aubameyang Arnie King

      Button, Cairney, AWB, Peltier

Also, should I start Arnie or Cairney? Cairney has the fixture but Arnie has the goal threat.

I prefer Aguero and Patricio to Ryan and Auba. I would start Arnie over Cairney.

Cheers. Head is saying Aubameyang because of nailedness and consistency but heart is saying Aguero because of explosiveness.

Is it worth downgrading the defence (or Mahrez -> B.Silva) to switch to 3-4-3 with Richarlison? I want to keep 3 Liverpool and 3 City 'attackers' whatever.

      Patricio
      Robertson, Mendy, Shaw, 5.0
      Salah, Mahrez, Mane
      Aguero, Zaha, Arnie

      (4.0, AWB, Stephens, Peltier)

      Cheers

Bilva’s attitude in pre season has been great
