The results for the second round of the Members Paddy Power Cup II are in and can be viewed right here. 256 fantasy managers became 128, after battling it out in Gameweek 26 for a place in the third round.

An above average number of drawn matches in the second round, saw 11 managers progress thanks to their overall rank. Relying on their previous hard work this week were RedcarRed, seanmcging, Back to Back Ballacks, Denis Denis, Browndog, Marvellus, Encaiter, stewpot, Billy Ketsu, skooldaze and Horizontal.

The reigning champ, Kippax Kikkers, is still in the mix after a comfortable 56 – 46 victory over Sounerous.

An amazingly low-scoring week produced a top score of 63, with only one manager breaking the usually standard 60-point mark. That title goes to sandgrounder, who defeated albion74 by 12 points in the process.

Congratulations to everyone progressing, and of course commiserations to those bowing out at this stage. The round three fixtures will be drawn and announced shortly.

    7.2m for a defender. Thinking of taking a punt on Ramires. Or is Pilkington a better option. I'm also thinking a Villa mid, maybe Petrov could be a food risk. Any ideas? Not insterested in Morrison, Siggy, Miyaichi. How about Scholes? Am I losing my mind here???

        Yep, definitely lost your mind. I assume you meant 7.2m for a midfielder. And just because you have the cash, doesn't mean you should spend as much as possible on the free slot. I like Miyaichi personally but Pilkington has great fixtures and is on set pieces in an attacking side. You can spend the spare cash on upgrading defenders next week.

          Yup. That's what I meant. Maybe I should start drinking earlier in the day. The plan is to upgrade defense next week (among other things), but with all the planned moves, I was left with 7.2m for a midfielder. This is all Wenger's fault. The Ox should be a starter.

                    A great option to save money. That 5th midfield slot will most likely be on the bench frequently so he's a great shout. He was pencilled in for me until i read about Miyachi's reputation.

          and scholes would have been a reasonable punt if anderson and cleverley weren't due back soon. Man U need goals from the midfield and they seem to be only coming from Giggs and scholes at the moment. They need a ronaldo.

      do nothing this week so you have 2 FTs next week. After that I;d lose one of your keepers, no rotation whatsoever, I'd lose Vorm for Schwarzer or Krul, or Migns to Ruddy

    ok folks thoughts a 4 point hit to get Bale out Gerrard for 2 weeks as Stevie has DGW and has a fixture GW29.

    Am already planning Aguero âž¡ Rooney and Richards âž¡ Skrtel for free.

    Gerrard is injured maybe and is a City defender essential beyond this GW (also thinking Skrtel not gonna be rested/rotated unlike Richards.

      Liverpool will not get similar cs's to City. And your lack of Silva is disturbing. Both Friedel and Mignolet have bad fixtures don't they? Do they rotate well? It's a good team for the short term though, front line is immense. Adebayor might be a good shout, but i'd worry about bringing in Kompany or Hart before that.

    Poor article- but it asks the question. Is there a better option than penalties? I think it has too much history to change now, but it's an interesting point.

      I like penalties and see nothing wrong with them.

      They're not a lottery as some people say. If a team doesn't practice penalties, chances are they are going to come a cropper against a team that does.

      There is never going to be a totally 'fair' way to get a winner after full time. Unless they turn it into boxing and let judges decide who they think the winner should be going by stats. And we all know that doesn't always work properly.

        Didn't they try that in MLS in America when it first reformed? I think there were no draws, and rather than penalties they'd have the ice-hockey style 10 seconds to score past the keeper, starting from the halfway line.

        I could be thinking of a Budweiser ad, though...

    So, if Agger is out does that mean Carragher steps in? Can't see Coates being risked Savic style against Arsenal... if they didn't have a gameweek off I'd be very tempted by Walcott

    Anyone interested in a punt on Walcott? He's a streaky player and might be at the start/middle of one. I feel team value isn't THAT important to me right now so I could possibly be prepared to sell Bale and in the worst case scenario just buy him back with a loss of 0.8m

    hi there folks.

    considering the unthinkable: rvp on the bench this week. liverpool's defense fantastic at home, and will be riding the high of lifting silverware last weekend. 2 possible holes in that argument are (1) arsenal's recent form and (2) agger's injury. the rest of the attack is as follows:

    siggy/sess/bale/silva(vc)/dempsey
    aguero(c)/pogrbnyak

    with siggy against wigan, and sess against newcastle, somehow i can't see playing rvp over them this week. the one other might be bale against united...could be a difficult one for spurs.

    any thoughts?

      I would bench Sess over RVP, he's not in peak form and AWAY to Newcastle can be tricky.

      If you're desperate to play Sess and Siggy, I'd bench Bale ahead of RVP. Utd have got more PL points against Spurs than any team has got against any other team.

      He looked sharp against England - I went to the match (he is in the class league I think and will always do soemthing in a match). Think the 45 mins was a Wenger agreement so with the holes in the Liverpool set up don't bench him

      Play sess. Swansea are not great away from home and are dipping in form. Newcastle's defence is questionable at the moment and you can never rule Sess out to nip a goal. Play the most expensive.

      I was considering this! If you have Aguero though, i'd captain him. Zabaleta had an international in Switzerland so Micah is almost certain to start. Silva will probably start. I was going to captain micah but i thin Silva has so much more potential for points.

        Aguero has played 250minutes of football in the last week which makes me think he wont feature versus bolton which is why i am wary of captaining him. Micah guarantees the 6 points at least. And its been a long time since Silva produced double figures, so i aint going there
