Legomané’s RMT

Rui Patricio, Hart

Robertson, Davies, Tomkins, Cedric, Wan-Bissaka

Salah, Mahrez, Eriksen, Kenedy, McArthur

Aguero, Arnautovic, King

The 2017-18 season nostalgia picks:

A number of players made their way into my squad before the game opened, last season’s returns fresh in mind..

Andrew Robertson’s end of season form was painful to observe as a Virgil van Dijk owner. At 6.0 he is ready to take up the Marcos Alonso mantle of most desirable defensive option in my opinion.

Mo Salah. Not out of fear. For the joy of FPL points.

With Danny Rose progressing to the World Cup Semi-Finals, Ben Davies was always going to be my next defensive target. The defender served many of us well at the beginning of last season, with double-digit potential and rotation over the opening fixtures less of a concern, he’s a must for me. I am conscious that I held onto Davies too long last season – this year I have earmarked Ben Mendy as my exit strategy, as and when.

Similarly, for Sergio Aguero, an early World Cup exit promoted him to the top of my summer watchlist, the anticipation of Brazil reaching the latter stages and rendering Gabriel Jesus a late starter seemed too good to be true. Aguero was a player I brought in ‘early’ last season at the moment everybody else switched from Morata to Firmino, GW17. I held him all the way through to GW32 so am familiar with the rotational fear that accompanies waiting for a City team sheet. I don’t know if he will be a long term pick, or if I’ll shift to Aubameyang after a few weeks (one of my preferred choices before the fixtures were released), but he’s nailed into my GW1 squad for sure.

Marko Arnautovic is another player I earmarked for inclusion at the end of last season. He’s just a fun player to own.

Kenedy is the final player in this group. A player I was keen on bringing into my squad last season, but for numerous reasons, never got round to, and watched on enviously as he returned a brace two or three gameweeks later. My squad structure includes two 5.0m midfielders and despite poor opening fixtures, he’s a player I’m keen to rotate in and out of my starting XI.

The desirables:

With Manchester City’s outrageous fixture run GWs 2-7, doubling up on attack seems bordering on essential. Having opted for Sergio Aguero, I am keen to leave a third slot open for manoeuvre after one or two weeks, once the returning KDB and co. are back in the mix. Riyad Mahrez is the player I’ve chosen. He’s a player that I’ve felt inclined to ignore over the past two season’s since his well earned price hike following the title winning season. But his FPL returns for Leicester last season, 16pts more than Sane make him almost irresistible in the City lineup. De Bruyne may well end up being the long term hold (or a double up partner) but for now, Mahrez IN!

Christian Eriksen is my third premium midfielder and it is the disarray at Spurs that draws me to him. With Kane potentially making a late return to the first team post-WC, I’m expecting the goal-thirsty Denmark version of Eriksen to step up to the mark.

My final desirable is Josh King. Early drafts included Zaha in this spot, and there are one or two 6.5 forwards I wouldn’t completely rule out – Wood, Mitrovic. King’s end of season form was mildly reminiscent to that of the previous season. Early sound bites from King about being unhappy played out of position last season lead me to believe he is about to recapture something of that form.

The uncertainties:

James Tomkins was a Free-Hit player I owned for Blank-Gameweek-35 last season. A modest 6-point return betrayed his involvement on the day, Livescore kept me informed of his numerous efforts on goal – so close to being a Free Hit hero! However, with Aaron Wan-Biassaka providing the role of 4.0 budget pick, I do wonder if doubling on Palace defence is a little much…

Cedric Soares was another early pick, a player that has always flattered to deceive in FPL. I am concerned about Mark Hughes ability to muster defensive resolve in his back line, not to mention a tummy bug denting his preseason return, so this 4.5 slot is very much up for grabs.

James McArthur was a non-pick last season thanks to the kindly priced Luka Milivojevic. However his goal scoring heroics did not go unnoticed. The arrival of Kouyate (and potentially RLC) could be a concern with the midfield options available to Hodgson fairly numerous. Helder Costa, Ruben Neves and Tom Cairney are all side steps I’m considering.

The Goal keeper pair is something I’ve toyed with a little. Pre-price releases, Dubravka at 4.5 was pencilled in as a potential set and forget, but with the early fixture run, a 5.0 valuation and the arrival and modest pricing of Portugese legend Rui Patricio at Wolves, my head has been well and truly turned!

Tapping in to Sean Dyche’s backline is something that I’ve been conscious of tinkering with since the game opened. With the defensive options receiving a token 5.0m valuation across the board, I see Joe Hart (assuming he hasn’t been brought in as cover for Lindegard!) as a reasonable budget route into the Burnley backline for the short to medium term – a spell that includes a very enticing opening run of fixtures.

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Like it one the whole as 10/15 to mine 🙂

Double Wolves and Palace defence is bold and could well pay off! I toyed with double Palace defence with the same two players as you, but in the end decided to spread the risk.

Personally don't love Fraser but thats possibly because I have been burned by him in previous seasons! Very nice forward line.

Good luck to you too 🙂

Not 100% sure this week, but Hughes' comments were encouraging. If not, happy with Robbo/SCook/Cedric back line this week with Mendy to probably come off the bench. Want Cedric long term though as he's pretty attacking, has decent fixtures and think 4.5m is good value 🙂

id get a cheaper keeper than De Gea as I don't think his extra price translate to enough extra points. use the cash to slightly improve defence.

not much id change really just more personal preference. its a really good team

Team is generally strong (similar template to most teams here but for good reason!). I wonder is this team showing too much faith in Spurs? Looks like they're gonna start slow. I dunno about the 5.0 midfield rotation options...those guys don't fill me with confidence. Probably will only gain one or two points more than you would if you just stuck a 4.5 midfield in. That's your punt though so why not back yourself.

    Foster
    Mendy - Shaw - Clyne
    Salah - Mane - Mahrez - Pedro
    Aguero - Zaha - King

Fabianski - Bednarek - Wan Bissaka - Billing

It's mainly set up for short term as I reckon Shaw, Clyne and Aguero will be rotation risks after a couple of games. Pedro is the one I doubt but could come good given Chelsea's fixtures and feels about as certain as any other 6.5ers.

      Nice.

Have a look at McCarthy for Hart... offers really good rotation.
Not sure Kante will offer enough points. I'd downgrade a striker for him. Midfielders generally offer more value for money.

Thought Forster was Southamptons first choice keeper?
I'll have a look into kante he is a weak point, I just know he'll start every game and got a chance of his clean sheet point.

No he's well down the pecking order now. Signed Gunn who will be number 2

David Luiz Sakho Mendy (Tomkins Daniels)

    Salah Sanchez Richarlison Jorginho (Hughes)

Looks good but downgrade Fab to £4m as you'll play DDG every game, swap Wilson for King and I'm unsure on Jorginho

Pls RMT! I have been tinkering for ages but have finally come to a decision... I think

    Fabianski, McCarthy
Van Dijk, Mendy, Aspilicueta, (Cook / Tomkins)
    Mane, Salah, Eriksen, Richarlison (Stephens)
    King, Arnie, Zaha

    Rationale;

    GK's
I fancy Fab and IMO, Saints keeper McCarthy offers the best rotation with him

    Def
Azpi is pricey. But.. I see him as one of the few premiums to start and get points early on. Don't fancy a Spurs or United defender. I can downgrade him once a better option comes available
Didn't like the fact that Robertson was benched in Pool's last match. Fancy VVD to get more goals this season so have gone for him

    Mid / attack
Will probably downgrade Mane for Keita and Eriksen for Jota / Sess or another once one shines through... allowing me to upgrade King / Arnie / Zaha to Firmino after a few GW's

    Please RMT

    Chancey Midfield?...

    Foster (McCarthy)
Robo / Coleman / Mendy (AWB / Bednarek)
Sane / BSilva / Moura / Dudson Odoi (Neves)
    Kun (C) Firmino (VC) Tosun

    4.5mil inb 😀 😀 (For AuBang GW 3 onwards and Silva/Odoi/Moura upgrade)

Thanks 🙂 Think i'm a bit mad with 4.5 million ITB...

Though i could happily start all 3 subs, so might as well keep the dosh in reserve

    Foster (Fabianski)
    Azpilicueta; Tomkins; Cédric; Mendy (Wan-Bissaka)
    Jota; Salah - C; Mané - V (Stephens; Gunnarsson)
    Zaha; Agüero; Firmino

    Thoughts?

Looks good but a v pricey strikeforce. Maybe downgrade one to Arnie and improve Gunnarsson?

I was originaly going with Firmino, Zaha and Arnie but his fixtures are just too hard and honestly I have some doubts on West Ham this year (I hope I'm wrong).. Upgrade Gunnarsson to who?

I have though about going with Trent Alexander instead with Mane, so that's how I could release some funds for a swap Mane+Gun to Lucas+Mikh?
