The results for the second round of the Members Paddy Power Cup II are in and can be viewed right here. 256 fantasy managers became 128, after battling it out in Gameweek 26 for a place in the third round.

An above average number of drawn matches in the second round, saw 11 managers progress thanks to their overall rank. Relying on their previous hard work this week were RedcarRed, seanmcging, Back to Back Ballacks, Denis Denis, Browndog, Marvellus, Encaiter, stewpot, Billy Ketsu, skooldaze and Horizontal.

The reigning champ, Kippax Kikkers, is still in the mix after a comfortable 56 – 46 victory over Sounerous.

An amazingly low-scoring week produced a top score of 63, with only one manager breaking the usually standard 60-point mark. That title goes to sandgrounder, who defeated albion74 by 12 points in the process.

Congratulations to everyone progressing, and of course commiserations to those bowing out at this stage. The round three fixtures will be drawn and announced shortly.

Thoughts on this wildcard team for GW28?

    Friedel Mignolet
    Enrique Evans Simpson Kelly Caulker
    Bale Valencia Dempsey Yaya McClean
    RVP Rooney Suarez
    0.5

Would mean no City def but I think Enrique could get similar returns for the rest of the season.
Would do Suarez – Adebayor for GW31.

    Two questions for GW28:

    a) Will Suarez outscore Rooney?
    b) Will LIV mid outscore Bale?

    0-50% probability ➡ answer NO
    51-100% probability ➡ answer YES

Stamford Bridge Press Conference & Team News: March 1st

The paperazzi gathered at the home of the Pride of London, hoping that a blushing Villas-Boas would address them. What was always a drowsy affair was now about to turn into a sizzling one. What stood in front of them? Whatever or whoever it was, their eyes popped out and the hands dropped down.

The Chelsea Media Relations spoke first “Good afternoon ladies & gents! Presenting to you – Hitomi Tanaka. She shall now be addressing you in Japanese & I shall do the translation for you folks.” One had to admire his ability to focus on the crowd rather than the newly appointed manager’s prized possessions.

Either way, I apologize that I have failed to fulfill my duties as your reporter. I had a complete blackout during the press as I was too immersed in what she was saying. However rumors suggests that a certain Icelander had a private meeting with her on the last night of February, before skipper John Terry had to step in. Only time will tell how much more player interest the manager will attract.

“Up next is the other manager from Chelsea – Andre Villas Boas at 1245pm”

Hey Nibbs. I don't see the need to get Suarez. I tend to avoid players that we expect or hope will do well, and wait until they prove it. Suarez fits that, and you could stick with Komp or strengthen your mids with the extra £. All else looks solid, and I still have my WC too. I think I might copy your GK's with it. Good luck.

I know, I had 2 last week and didn't use one, as I had literally nothing else to do.

Yeah but heavily leaning towards 28 now. The City - United fixture swing is impossible to ignore and my keepers need sorting.

Madness but i am considering Ba -> Holt to free up funds for 2 Liverpool defenders. Not a lot between them in fixtures and looking through the stats, over the last 6 weeks Holt is third in attempts on goal. He also had 5 attempts against Utd last week. Is he still on pens?

Investing in liverpool defence ain't a good idea ccoz they keep cleanies quite irregularly. So max maybe 1 liv defence is fine.

    GW28: Richards -> Skrtel, Sess -> Miyaichi, Sturridge -> Rooney (-4pts)

    FFS UCL Group D - GW26

    Ajax
    points: 53 + 4 = 57
    transfers: 1
    captain: Kun (Ba)

    Lyon
    points: 56
    transfers: 1
    captain: Kun (Ba)

The narrowest of home wins for Daniel's Ajax here. Both team's Man City picks scored well. Neither's Suderland ones did. Shawcross for Lyon, Simpson for Ajax, there were close battles all over the pitch. Losing manager gad will know not to blame himself, but seeing both Kelly and Shotton on his bench must be searing those 16 points into the backs of his retinas. It should be emphasised that this was a high scoring game which saw both managers rise in the rankings and get lovely green arrows. Ummmm, green arrrows...

    Dinamo Zagreb
    points: 51 + 4 = 55
    transfers: 1
    captain: Kun (Bale)

    Real Madrid
    points: 44
    transfers: 1
    captain: Ba (RVP)

Those tough artificial pitches, eh? Billowing Russian winters, ah? Start of their season, oh? Bizzle's Madrid will having been bracing themselves for a tough encounter and they were not disappointed. Johnny Englander, doing what so many of his compatriots were too scared to do and leading madcap team Dinamo into UCL success. They did the simple things well, scoring from all over the pitch. Even with a rotten Vorm / Lindy combo, the rest of the boys chucked in and never gave it up. Strength, Determination, Pooower, they had enough in their legs to eviscerate Bizzle's top seeds Madrid. Both teams fielded Zamora for a bit of flair but it was the Man city undifferential combo that won it for Johnny, with a strong captain choice repaying his faith. Real simply had no reply to Aguero and Silva's 13 point performance. Sure, injuries were mounting for Bizzle, but perhaps Big Jon Walters
isn't the answer at this level?
