Gareth Bale is allegedly a major doubt for Tottenham this weekend, with reports suggesting he suffered a hamstring tear in training for Wales. The winger failed to play in Gary Speed’s memorial match last night, after apparently picking up a Grade 1 tear- this would sideline him for around three weeks.

If Bale is indeed injured, this is hugely significant news for Fantasy managers. The most popular player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with a current ownership of 45.6%, he would be set to miss (MUN, eve, STK) if the rumours prove true.

His 10 goals, 9 assists and 21 bonus points have seen the Welshman tear up the division this term, as Bale confirmed himself as a bona fide Fantasy asset, verging on must-have in many’s books.

While there’s no doubt his potential absence would be a bitter blow, it may just prove the catalyst to shake up the identikit midfields that are currently doing the rounds. Off-loading Bale for a cheaper options could free up funds to boost your attack ahead of United’s upcoming fixtures or release more cash to spend in the backline.

Some may even be brave enough to go for the likes of Charlie Adam or Steven Gerrard, with Liverpool’s double Gameweek just around the corner. One thing’s for sure- it would make things a little more interesting.

At present, there is no official confirmation; all we’re doing is giving you a heads-up. Tottenham have remained tight-lipped on the subject, though Harry Redknapp’s Friday morning press conference will perhaps be more eagerly anticipated than ever before on the boards.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

if we get confirmation = that he is out of man u game then i will do Bale to Adam (disappointment to follow...) i try and stick to rule of not hanging on to injured players waiting for them to come back. Very frustrating when they are out for just 1 more week again and again.....

Mata doesn't score well away and it would be a very short term move.

Unless you have WC I wouldn't do it.

I dunno, Until GW34 he could score some big points in my opinion. The other options in that bracket aren't very appealing. Adam? No thanks. Walcott? No. Sessegnon? Got McClean ta. Dempsey? Got him. Valencia? Maybe if he wasn't injured....

Also can't see anywhere in my defence or attack I'll want to be upgrading any time soon

I think it'll be 3-5-2 with Walker and Rose wing-backs. Aye won't be easy, but was just made significantly easier. Form hasn't been great too.

True I actually hadn't thought of that, sorry. Was just trying to think of a left-winger and forgot about him.

Team above seems right, maybe Krancjar instead of Lennon/Livermore could play.

I think Lennon will start this one - his pace could be tricky and Kranjcar hasn't exactly impressed in the oppurtunity he's been given.

    Current Team(GW27)

    Schwarzer

    Richards, Kelly, Caulker

    Cabaye, Silva, Dempsey(C), Sessegnon

    Ba, Aguero(VC), RVP

    Subs Vorm, Enrique, BAE, Bale

With no Extra funds I could either do Richards to Skertal or I can use my W/C to form a more fixture focused team something like:

    Schwarzer, Mignolet

    Enrique, Skrtel, Evans, Caulker, BAE

    Bale/Valencia, Sessegnon, Dempsey, Silva, Surman

    Ba, Rooney, RVP

Worth using my W/C for this?

over last few gameweeks, hes been up there for defenders in terms of attempts on goal, it is potentially 2 cleansheets, he will start both games, barring injury and with carroll back in the picture he will have many more chances of getting on the end of a glen johnson cross. Also in terms of Fantasy index, on average per appearance hes only behind Luiz and Kolarov. With Liverpools lack of standout bonus recipients, he can easily sneak some bonus in as well with a good performance. A potential 15-20 point haul for him for the double gameweek. I cant see any other Liverpool player with that kind of potential who will be considered a probable starter for both games.

Doesn't really matter as long as he keeps his scoring touch. 7 points in a game is plenty for a midfielder priced as cheap as him. Plus he has got the 3bps on 4 occasions this season.

I don't agree with the analysis in the article - if it's a Grade 1 tear, this is the most minor of the hamstring injuries and should keep him out for just one week, not three. Defo miss the Man U game though.

Yeah normally about a week with a grade 1 tear however coming back too soon after suffering a hamstring injury can be risky. Especially with the style of player he is bombing up and down the wing. Could easily worsen the injury and keep him out long term.

He suffered the injury in training before last nights match meaning the game this weekend would come too soon for him.

The more I look at City's next 5 or 6 games the more I think a Silva > Yaya downgrade makes sense. At £10.5 million Silva needs to score or assist every week to justify his price tag or you get annoyed with having him whereas Yaya at £7.5 it doesn't hurt so much if he doesn't and they will both contribute to the cause.

What about Skrtel. I am agreeing with you on their attacking players for FPL. Really dont think GJ worth 0.6 more than Skrtel.
