Gareth Bale is allegedly a major doubt for Tottenham this weekend, with reports suggesting he suffered a hamstring tear in training for Wales. The winger failed to play in Gary Speed’s memorial match last night, after apparently picking up a Grade 1 tear- this would sideline him for around three weeks.

If Bale is indeed injured, this is hugely significant news for Fantasy managers. The most popular player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with a current ownership of 45.6%, he would be set to miss (MUN, eve, STK) if the rumours prove true.

His 10 goals, 9 assists and 21 bonus points have seen the Welshman tear up the division this term, as Bale confirmed himself as a bona fide Fantasy asset, verging on must-have in many’s books.

While there’s no doubt his potential absence would be a bitter blow, it may just prove the catalyst to shake up the identikit midfields that are currently doing the rounds. Off-loading Bale for a cheaper options could free up funds to boost your attack ahead of United’s upcoming fixtures or release more cash to spend in the backline.

Some may even be brave enough to go for the likes of Charlie Adam or Steven Gerrard, with Liverpool’s double Gameweek just around the corner. One thing’s for sure- it would make things a little more interesting.

At present, there is no official confirmation; all we’re doing is giving you a heads-up. Tottenham have remained tight-lipped on the subject, though Harry Redknapp’s Friday morning press conference will perhaps be more eagerly anticipated than ever before on the boards.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Ah that is a much better prediction of my team, toying with Taiwo instead of Cahill atm, and a possible transfer obviously.

Worth holding onto Bale? Bought him at 7.9 so I'd be making a pretty hefty loss if I sold, and he may well be back sooner than expected

I've sold out today. Him, Sess and Dempsey were on my hit list for my WC, just a question of timing. I wanted funds for Aguero this weekend so Bale was the obvious fall guy

    Vorm – Krul

    Richards – Taiwo – Senderos – Santon – Caulker

    Bale – Silva – Dempsey – Sess – Moses

    Ba – RVP – Aguero

1 FT and .3 in the bank.

Any ideas for transfers over the next couple of weeks?

Taiwo to Evans in a week or two.

Bale and Caulker to Cheaper mid and Skrtel

Aguero to Suarez to Rooney after this week.

Lots of options, I'm trying to work out the possibilities at the moment 😉

If I hadn't made an early transfer I'd now be sitting on 6 yellows and reds:

Vorm, Vermaelen, Bardsley, Agger, Bale, D Cisse.

    Anyone beat that? 😉

it has been a better year for skrtl without a doubt, but glen johnson has looked much more dangerous over the past gameweeks. If stats are to be considered, Glen Johnson wins hands down.

Not to mention skrtl will get you that game changing goal when its 0-0 in the 75th minute, but if you're expecting Liverpool to start out-scoring other teams, Glen Johnson will be much more involved in the points than Skrtl.

Bit stuck with my team at the moment. Always look at it, think about changing a few but then decide it's good enough. Taiwo was a waste of money, but he's too cheap for me to do anything with really, might as well keep him on the bench for the rest of the season. Thoughts?

    Vorm
    Cahill - Enrique - Santon
    Yaya - Silva - Sess
    Aguero - RvP - Graham

    Krul - Taiwo - Bale - Chamberlain

Haha, whoops, apparently I'm playing 3-3-3!

Walker should be in there somewhere too. Looks like I'm gonna have to swap Chamberlain for someone who will actually play 90 mins...

physioroom had the bale injury posted this morning presumably based on the fact that he didnt play for Wales yesterday, but that was before any news came out about a grade1 tear, so physioroom may well update that expected return date once/if Tottenham confirms that injury..

Great. Just when I thought that 1FT this week could be used to strengthen my def/fwd, my mids now look dodgy as hell. Any help guys?

    Team is:

    Vorm Krul

    Richards Raylor Cahill Caulker McAuley

    Bale Sess McClean YaYa Demps

    RvP Aguero Zamora

    3.0 in the bank

Was thinking of doing Zamora > Pog but with Bale out now should I transfer him out instead?
