Our panel of Fantasy Premier League managers are back to answer more questions, this time ahead of Gameweek 3.

We may have one Gameweek 2 match left to play, with Crystal Palace hosting Liverpool in Monday Night Football, but there are still plenty of talking points.

Not least that of how much money to spend in defence, how best to cover an unpredictable Manchester City attack and the upcoming good fixtures Arsenal are about to enjoy.

Once again, we had an overwhelming response to our request for questions. Unfortunately, we can only answer a handful each week but keep your queries coming in for the rest of the season.

Here’s a reminder of who is on the panel for your Gameweek 3 Question Time:

Lee from FPL Family – One half of the popular married couple who play FPL together and run a YouTube channel.

Simon March – Winner of FPL in 2014/15.

Ben Crabtree – Winner of FPL in 2016/17.

QUESTION ONE – SIMON MARCH

Should we be giving up on forwards and putting that extra cash into having at least four premium wing-backs? I’m thinking of getting Robertson and Alonso to partner Mendy who I already own.

Simon: “After two weeks of watching the likes of Mendy, Robertson and Alonso marauding forward, getting goals and assists while also chipping in with the odd clean sheet, it’s pretty tempting to go big at the back.

“It’s hard to argue that, right now, 6-6.5m spent on a defender doesn’t yield better value than the same amount spent on a forward.

“However, one challenge is that while you can get decent value from a budget defender, you can currently get almost no value from a budget forward.

“If it takes a 4.5m forward to afford an additional 6m+ defender, that’s a big collective outlay on what is, effectively, one active player.

“It might improve your first eleven but it could also substantially reduce your squad’s strength in depth, increasing your exposure to rotation and reducing your ability to adapt to changes in fixtures and form.

“You could go without a premium forward but, as Aguero demonstrated on Sunday that this, in itself, can be a huge risk.

“A premium defence might be a viable strategy, but it has its trade-offs to take into account.

“Also, it only takes a week for things to change in FPL so I’d be wary of writing-off forwards this early in the season.”

QUESTION TWO – BEN CRABTREE

Given their run of fixtures I currently have three Man City attackers (Bernardo Silva, Sterling and Aguero) – is this too much given possible rotation and the cost of the investment overall?

Ben: “I see it as a necessity to have three Man City players so that if they turn it on, as it looks like they will often, you maximise your chance for a share of the points.

“It looks like the build-up to Pep Guardiola’s team sheet is destined to cause palpitations but the stress can be reduced with maximum coverage.

“Aguero, Sterling and Bernardo Silva is a lot of money and the value of the outstanding Mendy, probably one of the more secure starters, means you should prioritise him pretty much over all other transfers.

“Aguero has to stay in your squad. Sterling looks the most sensible to remove given his omission against Huddersfield and the extra expense.

“However, he will come back in the team at some point and does have the potential to be a great explosive differential compared to Bernardo Silva who looks more susceptible to small scores in big wins.

“The safe move is probably Sterling to Hazard and get Mendy as your third City player. The ‘in it to win it’ move would be keep Sterling and change Bernardo Silva to Mkhitaryan.

“Rotation is a huge problem for us and owning great players that are certain starters is ideal. One or two rotation risks is okay, but many more and every week you leave yourself open to a disaster week.

“I don’t like the idea of a strong squad of 15 to cover many risky players due to too much money on the bench. £4.5m defenders can come to the rescue with potentially 6 points entering the fray.

“Throw in an element of attacking capability and the ceiling points potential is higher than most 5.5m mids.”

QUESTION THREE – LEE FROM FPL FAMILY

Who are the best Arsenal players to fit into your side with their upcoming fixtures so good? It’s tricky with lots of other in-form options in the early Gameweeks. For me, the only spots that could be a straight swap are Pickford (for Cech/Leno) and Aguero (for Auba/Laca), as I don’t feel like ditching any of Mendy, Robertson, Alonso, Salah, Mane, Bernardo, Richarlison or Zaha. What would you do?

Lee: “I was not at all convinced by Arsenal defensively against either Man City or Chelsea. Emery is asking them to play out from the back and they just don’t have the personnel to do it right now – Cech in particular.

“In attack though, Aubameyang is class. He hasn’t shown it yet – but he will.

“If like many though, getting him in means losing Aguero, I would be sticking with the in-form City man.

“The one player who does look good for Arsenal so far is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. If you can fit him in among those other big names, get him in.

“Otherwise, keep a watching brief and potentially be prepared to switch out the more expensive Mané or Bernardo Silva if the Arsenal man shows some serious form.

Totally. Everyone can believe what they want, but if you come on here and troll and don't have your team linked than I have no time for that. This guy was on here spreading bs about him doing Aguero to Auba because of the 'article' any commenting on multiple messages about Aguero being 'rotated'.

Think the link might be the wrong one. Either way I have no doubt he is just talking bs. I was hoping Aguero getting 3g + 1a and 3b would be enough for him to not comment again ahah.

Agüero capper here with Robertson Salah Firmino Tomkins Wan-Bissaka to play.

Of course we want Salah to return points tonight to beat the 45% who don’t own him, but not too many that the cappers gain too much. Ideally we want all the other you mentioned to outscore him.

It sounds like you're referring to Frisking the Fixtures there! Don't worry - that will be back this week! We did a lot of research into the first six Gameweeks over the summer, so we felt we couldn't add much looking forward from Gameweek 2. But now that the landscape has changed a bit and we've got more competitive data to go on there's enough there for an article again 🙂

I know hindsight is wonderful, but without naming names, what went through the heads of certain people when they decided to go without premium strikers? With Kane Vs Fulham and Aguero Vs Huddersfield coming up in GW2...
Now they'll have to early wildcard to save their mess and that's the most powerful chip gone until the new year.

I can see why people went cheap going off last seasons value in defence and midfield but not all seasons are the same.Think not having even one big hitter up front was taking it too far.Kun is in top form right now and surprisingly a great differential.

Personally started with Aguero ( great) and Aube (mistake) but the answer is because all the big strikers had question marks over them. Kane - World Cup and August, Lukaku - World Cup and Mourinhos negative tactics, Morata - not convincing, aube/Laca - fixtures and new manager, Aguero - World Cup and rotation fear (yes I know about last season but there is always a nagging doubt pep is trying to develop Jesus and will slowly give him more minutes). So far only one to really deliver is Aguero.

50/50 on whether it improves or not.

Tomkins is probably a 2 at best score.
Robbo could quite easily be a 2.
Salah non-capt might mean a haul means you lose rank.

OR shouldn't be paid too much attention to early doors though. Don't worry about it, just hope your players score points.

Salah was easily my first pick in my pre-season planning. Love watching him play & also the many fpl points that he offers. However, surprisingly I didn’t include him. I gambled on spreading the budget and bringing the double Pool combo instead (Mane captain & Bobby F). It worked out well week 1 but does not seem as exciting.

Problem is, from fpl perspective, I am now hoping Salah blanks tonight but I’m uneasy with that because I watch football for world class players like him, to witness the magic he can produce.

....... I think I need to get Salah in my team to start enjoying watching him again, so wildcard may come out tonight. I am mad?

I also went for Robbo, Mane and Firmino, and am looking at a midfield of Mane, Hazard, Mhki, Richarlison next week. It's nervy not having him, but you can spread his funds around quite nicely.

Wouldn't matter much imo unless he's involved in multiple goals and your team hasn't scored well.

If that's the case, I'd just take a hit or use 2FTs to sort out the situation. Wildcard only if you have 4 or more players who you just don't want in your XI but are stuck with them.

This. I went for wildcard as I saw 8-9 changes and chance to catch some early price rises allowing me to have a team most will be priced out. It's a risky strategy and might cost me later, who knows.

Watch the game tonight. That might give you a better answer.

I briefly considered going without Salah but didn't have the balls to do it. Still captained Kun this week and it says something. I'm on a wildcard and if he doesn't go bonkers vs Palace I might opt for Mane instead to get both Kun and Auba.

Pick which is most important to you, FPL or real football.

    Fab Foster
    Mendy Robertson Doherty AWB Peltier
    Salah Mahrez Richarlison Fraser Cairney
    Aguero Firmino Zaha

    2ft 0 itb

    Thinking about:
    Mahrez > Dilva
    Cairney > Hughes (sideways?)
or improve my def (whos the best 4.5?)

Also depends how Firm/Mane play tonight.

    Any assistance?

Mahrez out as his minutes are severely limited for someone who is 9.0.

No other major issues, so just use that this week. Dilva/Bilva both good choices.

Mendy and Ederson aren't. Walker probably won't be the longer the season goes on. Aguero looks mostly nailed (midfield rotation/formation rotation seemingly more likely after GW2 hindsight).

Mendy, Aguero and one other for me.

Carry it over, probably. Although Eriksen to Dilva is worth a look at, maybe? City mid is a minefield, though. Dilva is aging too, so Pep might limit his minutes as well. But looked damn sharp vs Hud.

    DDG
    Alonso, Robertson, Mendy, AWB
    Salah, Mane, B.Silva, Richarlison
    Aguero, Zaha

    (Stek, Kamara, Stephens, Peltier)

Working towards DDG, B.Silva & Stephens -> Ederson, Mkhitaryan & Fraser - sound about right?

    Alonso Mendy TAA Bellerin

    Salah Mkhi Richarlson Frazer

    Auba Kun

    Hamer Wan-B Stephens Kamara

Looks good actually, but Laca looks the better option than Auba. If Emery has any managerial nous, he'd realize how BS it is to keep benching Laca. Arsenal look much better with him on the pitch.

It's kinda knee jerk to not captaining Kun
The big ones out are Mane and Mahrez.
The current team has Bilva and Mahrez and Mane.
Kun looks way more nailed that either of those. Think its time to jump. Already breaking the rules of no early WC and totally changing my formation 🙂

I know you have Alonso, but many are expecting Hazard to do really well under Sarri, I'd get him or another Chelsea attacker. Their fixtures are too good to go without!

Sarri said he is not yet fit for full 90. So a bit too soon for Hazard, I think. I'm currently on Alonso & Pedro.

I wouldn't trust Arsenal defence yet. Other than that, looks great. Although bench should be better on a wildcard especially as you have some rotation risks there.

Considering TAA instead of Robbo as well. Pool fixtures about to turn and benching him wouldn't be as big of a problem vs top6 sides.

Thanks all. All the points ye raised are exactly the changes I am thinking it needs.

Che attack would be great. Price point wise Pedro is probably the only option but is he not a rotation risk down the line.
On the fence on Bellerin could just go safe with Luiz or something but with Ars fixtures and his attacking potential but everyone keeps saying how poor the defence looks.

I'd downgrade him to max 5.0 (Burnley?) and upgrade Stephens maybe to Kante. Would give you two sure starters on bench.

    I have 2 FTs.

Which one of these makes sense:

    1) Sanchez to Mane, bank the remaining amount and roll over the free transfer
    2) Sanchez to Hazard and roll over the free transfer
    3) Sanchez to Mkhi and Kabasele to Mendy, bank the remaining amount

The only players I have from these teams are:

    Arsenal: Auba
    Liverpool: TAA and Salah
    City: Aguero and Ederson
    Chelsea: Luiz

    Thanks a lot.

Major screw up for me this weekend. Had Aguero but read the stupid Jamie Jackson news, and wussed out by putting a (c) on Sanchez who didn't even play. VC ended up being Richarlison.

Now want to offload the Chilean. Have 2 FT, the rest of the team is:

    Kepa
    Robertson/Mendy/Coleman/Peltier/WB
    Moura/Pedro/Sanchez/Mane/Richarlison
    Aguero/Firmino/Kamara.

Thinking of doing Peltier/Sanchez to Alonso/Mkhi, but really want Auba. Is it worth doing Firmino/Sanchez to Auba/Mkhi? Thanks.

From planning a -8 then calming down to a -4, I'm now stumped at how to use 2FT (0.0m)

Was planning to shift Eriksen and Moura but now keeping. Anything else worth a punt?

    Mendy, Luiz, PvA
    Salah, Eriksen, Moura, Neves

I'd be looking at some Arsenal for the West Ham-Cardiff games but you are kind of stuck bringing in Aubameyang with so much stuck in the backline. Richarlison looking like a must also with bou, HUD, WHU

Mendy is given. Wouldn't feel comfortable not owning Aguero.

And I think you need to have three. Third one is a toughie. Defence double up (Ederson) is an option. I'm between Bilva and Dilva. You'd think Dilva is most secured started on their midfield now that KDB is out, no?
