We can reveal that Mark Sutherns has played his Wildcard for Gameweek 3 of the 2018/19 Fantasy Premier League season.

Joe spoke to him in the latest episode of ScoutCast Extra Time on Friday afternoon to find out his reasons for hitting the button and making a raft of changes.

You can watch that video below or on our YouTube channel.

Mark explained that a lot of his decision revolved around how volatile the transfer market has been since Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.2m) hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

With managers all over the world chopping and changing Mark was faced with a situation where several of his original assets were facing price falls, and those he wanted to replace them with were going in the opposite direction.

Joe made the case for sticking with Mark’s original Gameweek 2 team but it will definitely be an all-new line-up in Gameweek 3.

In our latest edition of ScoutCast Extra Time, Mark takes us through two different teams he is considering before Saturday’s 11:30am deadline – one with Eden Hazard (£10.5m) and one without.

I think Guendouzi is the best option at 4.5 as a goal or assist will set off a fair few transfers in. Plus you could argue he is as nailed most of them at this point anyway!

I would not consider "best". Nampalys Mendy could be hidden gems or Danny Ward if he consistently start

    Who scores more?

    A) Ederson & Wilson & 4.5 bench +0.9m itb
    B) Ederson & Fraser & Ings (on rotation) +0.3m
    C) Hennessey & Pogba & 4.5 bench

What about Mane and Stephens to Pedro and Maddison(later Gross)? Gives you a strong bench when european games start. Pedro seems to be nailed. Or crazy idea?

Are you gonna keep Shaw? By getting Pedro and Maddison you could upgrade him to Alonso/Trippier depending what you have in the bank...Hazard ”route” might mean a 4.5-5 defender?

    2. Nevi

Salah seems to be the consensus pick, but honestly I would throw the dice on it when it comes to Salah, Mane, Kun, Auba (and maybe a few more). Wolves are better defensively than BHA stat-wise (though both are better than WHU if you are just looking at the opta stats).

Most are going to cite the damage of not captaining Salah and/or the last three games LIV v BHA and use it as justification on Salah.

Like quite a lot of people I’ve made some early transfers this week, including one hit already. Given that Man City are the early kick off, and we will likely get wind of team news before 11:30, what would your plan be if it’s leaked (by a reliable source) that one of your starting XI is benched?

For me that would be either Aguero/Mendy/Bilva and I have a very poor bench to backup (Kamara and Bennett).

Morning dzz, how we all doing?

in a pickle with regards to shaw. any indication whether he will play? team is below. have 0FT and 4m itb!!

    Foster --- Patricio
    Mendy • Robertson • Shaw --- Peltier • AWB
    Salah • Richarlison • Mkhi • Pedro --- Stephens
    Zaha • Kun • King

    A: Peltier >> Alonso (-4)
    - Alonso has 4 good fixtures so should make up the hit
    - if shaw doesnt play, i will only have 2 def so in essence this becomes a 2 point hit
    - The downside is that it gives me a heavy defence and more importantly,
    - I want to get rid of robertson (dont like pool fixtures from next week) so next week i will have to take another hit in the form of Robbo/King >> xxx/xxx (-4) or robb/stephens >> robbo/xxxx (-4) and i am pretty sure i will replace robbo with Alonso (unless auba or hazard show significant form in which case i will downgrade robbo to accomodate them)

    B: Save FT
    - Hope shaw makes it as i think its his place to lose (if not injured)
    - Allows me to do Robbo >> Alonso next week directly without any hits (as opposed to option A where i do Peltier >> Alonso (for a hit now) and then Robbo > Alonso next gw for another hit!

Hope i am making sense (unlikely) 🙂

    1. Finnish Fish
      • 7 Years

Id do Peltier to Alonso, And monitor Shaw after this week. And id say Robbo is a season keeper, but its your choice. Nacho Monreal couldbe good replacement. Good Luck! 😉

        Def getting of roberston.

the concern is whether to do
        - Peltier > Alonso (-4) gw3 then
        - Robbo/King >> Alonso/XXX (-4) gw4 vs.

        - Robbo/King > Alonso/XXX (-4) in gw4

    2. Nevi
      • 14 Years

I am a little confised by the multitude of "robb*"s but it is late where I am...

I think the logic of diffusing the hit over the future gameweeks makes sense to me, but I would probably hold just because of the easier swap of robbo to alonso.

I would prefer to keep robbo and bring in alonso for peltier, but if you were planning on getting rid of robbo, that is sorta irrelevant.

I would go sod it and go with A because if Alonso rises again then it becomes out of reach. He is a set and forget so that to me is worth a lot

    D. Ings

A, C or D now, and B later when his fixtures turn? Thanks.

Did King to Wilson myself but Ings looks like a good pick.

You will probably want to swap back next week.

Why sell King this week? Too knew jerky. He is still playing up top for a form team with a good home fixture. Probably back on pens too. He will come good.

    On the WC. Current team:

    Ederson
    Alonso Mendy TAA
    Salah Richarlison Pedro Fraser
    Aguero Auba Ings

    Hamer Kante AWB Bennett +0.9

Is there any better way of fitting Pereira in at the back? I can do the following but it leaves me with 12 playable (and Pereira/Fraser/Ings rotating) so it is quite far from ideal...

    Ederson
    Alonso Mendy TAA Pereira
    Salah Richarlison Pedro
    Aguero Auba Ings

    Hamer Guendouzi Fraser AWB +0.4

Is mkhi really going to do the business this week? Feel like a lot of people have him and he is very hot and cold. I have no arsenal cover (except guendouzi but I’m not counting that) so do I need the cover or shall I just wait and see for a week?

Its just about your choice. If you feel like you dont need any, dont get any. And personally, dont get anyone just for cover. As a Arsenal fan, I want atleast one. But you can easily wait few weeks to see what is Emery preferred formation & players. Mkhi might not even be nailed.. And Laca could become an option.

In the same position mate; on a WC too but not convinced. Gonna wait and see this week before jumping on that wagon; as highlighted a few responses up, Unai could easily switch things around. Might see Laca and / or Rambo this week
