There has been plenty of Fantasy Premier League interest surrounding Marco Silva’s new-look Everton side in 2018/19, but is it justified?

Richarlison (£6.7m) and Theo Walcott (£6.8m) have at different times this season been at the centre of the debate and are currently the Toffees’ two most-owned outfielders, so we’re assessing the pros and cons of holding onto either player in the coming weeks.

We’re also taking this opportunity to analyse what impact their new manager has had at Goodison Park since his appointment.

Walcott’s injury-enforced exit after 57 minutes of Everton’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town at the weekend capped off a frustrating day for the Toffees and the circa one million FPL managers who owned the former Arsenal winger.

Further updates are awaited on the extent of Walcott’s rib problem and, although he currently is the most-sold midfielder of this round, a large chunk of his owners are sitting on the mid-priced option for now with a plum home fixture against West Ham United to come in Gameweek 5.

While Richarlison has had his deserters since his dismissal in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth a fortnight ago, the Brazilian has – like Walcott – been retained by just under 15% of FPL managers.

That the mass exodus for either player hasn’t happened on a much wider scale is perhaps explained by two factors: Everton’s forthcoming fixtures and Silva’s reputation for delivering attacking football.

A cursory look at the Season Ticker long-term doesn’t cast the Toffees in a favourable light, given that they have trips to Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City to come between now and mid-December.

Filtering by home fixtures, however, gives cause for optimism. Everton top our Season Ticker for matches on home soil between now and Gameweek 16, with the Hammers, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Cardiff City, Newcastle United and Watford all to visit Merseyside during that period.

Even the trips to Stamford Bridge and the Emirates aren’t too daunting from an offensive perspective, given that Chelsea and especially Arsenal have looked a little suspect in defence this season.

Silva’s renown for favouring a more aesthetically pleasing brand of football is something we will explore here, looking at the early impact the former Watford manager has had on Everton’s more attack-minded players from a Fantasy perspective – as well as any notable difference in the performances of his backline.

Does leave you without much depth and relying on Ings every week. Not sure Saints score enough goals for that, like Ings but better if he can be rotated. Bednarek to Bennett could save a little as well for what I think should be similar returns and on bench anyway. And what about DSilva and Vardy instead of Salah and Ings?

Pretty happy with my WC team, but a couple positions undecided.

    1. Which 4.5 keeper is best over upcoming fixtures? Currently on Patricio. (No rotation as Hamer on bench)

    2. Robbo or Trippier? Had Robbo since start of season and very happy with how’s it’s worked out, but Trippier has better fixtures on the way.

      1. I have the same issue, i want a GK who can sustain till end of the year. Patricio for immediate future. And Ryan for long term.
      2. Is either of them nailed? If you have to get one of them i'd keep Robbo, but don't expect much for next few GWs.

      1. Jackie Moon
        • 7 Years

Thanks for the feedback. I’d say both Robbo and Trippier are rotation risks as soon as Champs League starts, but both can be explosive so happy to take the risk and have bench cover if they don’t play. If you’re not keen on either of them who do you prefer? Have Alonso, Mendy, AWB and Bennett alongside.

I swapped. Depends whether it has to be a straight swap or whether you can make 2 changes and upgrade/downgrade. Not much else around his price so best would be to downgrade and little and save money. Maddison, Pereyra, Fraser all good options for upcoming games.

Yeah, everyone goes mad on midfielders and defenders...so it becomes really difficult to put in a team also because there s Aguero who occupies the premium striker role

    2. Jackie Moon
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

Kane, like Salah, needs to be scoring lots of points to justify his price. He looks a little fatigued right now so waiting until he hits top form again. That said he could blow Brighton, Cardiff, HUD and West Ham away! 2 transfers gets him in for Aguero when the time feels right.

The only way I'd get him is in a No-Salah team. Rn, Im giving Salah 1-2 weeks to give his case on why he should stay in my team. If Salah doesnt pass the eye test, Kane is the likely transfer in on 2 FT.

Been fiddling with my WC team to try and squeeze premium defence, premium mid and Aguero.

Is this team viable or just madness? Without Salad, I can get Lacazette, Pereira and DSilva instead of a poor striker, Billings and Salah.

Surely it’s Mane, Bonatini, Quaner > three of: Richa, Theo, Maddison, Mkhi, Ings, Wilson, Mitro, Zaha, Arnie etc?

Mané has already done a fair bit of his scoring for this year, whereas Salah is yet to get going, and all those mid price attackers above are way underpriced

I think Salah, Haz, Kun are great though, along with Mendy, Alonso, Robbo.

      Basically don’t worry about Mané.

Yes don't like losing PVA. Done wonders for me end of last season and first in my team this year.

But no Tomkins doesn't help and they can't keep clean sheets whilst Alonso is smashing it.

Great moves. I’m going for Vardy over Maddison, but he’s definitely looking good.

Anyone else activated the wildcard a few days ago and now looking at their team and wondering if it's possible to get salah back in? He ruins my team!

Quite confident in Bilva this week. Fulham's defence is a real mess

        Great information.

I'm thinking of selling for Maddison to get Alonso.

          Ive done similar

Bilva to schurlle and tomkins to alonso.

Couldnt afford maddison but why did you pick him over schurlle out of interest?

Only if he plays. Home game vs Fulham, Pep might go 424 again

    Thoughts on thes wildcards, gents?

    A) 0,0 ITB
    Pat (Hamer)
    Holebas, alonso, mendy (AWB, Bennet)
    Haz, mane, fraser, maddison (Billing)
    Vardy, kun, laca

    B)
    Pat (hamer)
    robbo - rest the same
    pedro, haz, mane, moura (billing)
    wilson, kun, vardy

    A or B or maybe a C :)?

      Given,

      A. Holebas, Maddison, Fraser, Laca

      B. Robbo, Pedro, Moura, Wilson

B allows you to bring in Richarlison with 1 FT. Also i rather have triple Chelsea than double Leicester.

        Hmm, thx for the input.
I tend to agree, the only thing with team B is that both Pedro and Moura are more vulnerable to rotation, wheras Fraser and Maddison are sure starters. On a WC I ideally like as nailed as possible..

The funny thing is I haven't been monitoring the price changes at all this season!
