Fixtures

Which FPL players are on international duty ahead of Gameweek 9?

A week of international fixtures gets underway today, with two African Cup of Nations qualifiers and a cluster of friendlies kicking off a nervy period in which we keep our fingers crossed in the hope of our Fantasy assets returning to England unscathed.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

There are four players in action in the early hours of Wednesday, October 17 who then face a long-haul flight back from the Americas: Alexis Sanchez (£10.0m), DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Davinson Sanchez (£5.8m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.6m).

Davinson was among the substitutes in Spurs’ Premier League match against Liverpool immediately after the September international break, though Yedlin was thrust straight back into the Newcastle United starting XI for the visit of Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez sat out Chile’s previous two fixtures last month, while Jimenez was recalled early by Wolves as a precautionary measure in plenty of time ahead of Gameweek 5.

Manchester United are in action in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, October 20, so it remains to be seen whether Alexis features from the start against Chelsea after his exertions in Mexico next Wednesday morning. Jimenez and Wolves, meanwhile, take on Watford at 3pm on that same Saturday.

The good news for owners of Fantasy assets playing for Brazil and Argentina is that their meeting on Tuesday, October 16 will take place in Saudi Arabia, meaning an earlier-than-usual finish time for the likes of Roberto Firmino (£9.4m), Alisson (£5.6m), Ederson (£5.7m), Richarlison (£6.8m), Lucas Moura (£7.4m) and Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m) and a shorter flight back to the UK.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.8m), Sadio Mane (£9.9m), Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) and Son Heung-min (£8.3m) are among the FPL players who are in action in Africa and Asia next Tuesday, meanwhile.

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m), Aymeric Laporte (£5.7m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.2m) are some of the more notable “uninjured” players who won’t feature for their respective national teams over the coming week.

Be interesting to see Doherty’s scores from here on out. If FPL managers have cottoned on to wolves habit of using him on the right, you can bet the other premier league teams have too. Throw in the extra spotlight from his player of the month award & I think it’s very difficult for him from here on out.

Those who got in 4 weeks ago were the real winners?

I got him two weeks back. Will keep him unless his stats decline against weaker opposition. Beyond a point I don't think opposition tactics can do much. Every team has a few players that are the most heavily involved in attack. Generally those are the wingers / attacking mids or forwards. With 3 5 2 formation its the wing backs for wolves that are playing like wingers. I like that.

He certainly has done unbelievably well the last 5 weeks, and has a nice role in that wolves team. I wonder will we see him get 170 / 180 points this year, or will his scoring taper off

The last four weeks are of course unsustainable. But yes he can get close to 5 ppm over the season I think.

It's unrealistic to expect more double figure hauls anytime soon but you won't find better value for money in defence. He'll justify his price and then some, even without overperforming.

I think this is it - I'll be getting him this week with tempered expectations. The real kicker is how good Wolves are defensively so in favourable fixtures he can always bank a 6 pointer even if teams do try to lock him down more.

He scored in preseason. Then Firmino was given a chance and he missed. So if Milner isn't there then Mane is on pens.

I have Mane. But am worried slightly about a slight rotation threat. He is the only Liverpool player to play all the games plus has a hectic international break schedule.

When looking at replies to a post you make, which of these do you find important in the person who replies?

    A) A Grav
    B) A FFS number badge (if so, how many years?)
    C) Current rank (Do you check?)
    D) Historical ranks (Do you check?)
    E) A regular/familiar name

Or do you just treat each reply equally and solely judge by the content of the reply?

though E is important sometime, like replies from Jafooli has to be assessed first 😛

I read quite a lot on site and I think you get a fairly good idea of which users offer opinions/thoughts worth listening to on a regular basis, regardless of points A to E. A grav does help though!

Without any bias to my own longevity, if you've been part of this community for more than 5 years your either a sucker for punishment or you have a decent idea about FF and how to play it and arent just here to wind people up. So for me it:

      B
      E
      D

The rest isnt so important. Current rank can be misleading, especially at the start of a season.

I don't ever ask about my team because I have no clue on the other person's thought process. Without that, I think their answer is largely meaningless.

I always believe it is naive to judge a person's comments based on their history of playing the game. With more experience, one can improve their game and change their approach.

Is having both Patricio and Doherty too much?

No. Its worked a treat over the last two gameweeks for me. Personally I am now getting rid of Patricio and getting in Jonny.

No, you can't say that. Both play in different positions. So you can expect save points from Patricio and attacking returns from Doherty.

    Pickford
    Alonso Robertson Trippier
    Hazard Mane Moura Richarlison
    Mitrovic Aguero Ings

    Foster AWB Shaw Stephens

    2FT 1.1ItB got Wildcard

    Thinking:
-Shaw and Ings out for Doherty and King/Wilson (placeholder for Arnautovic til gw11).
-Moura out for Maddison/Siggy gw10 (or now?)
    -Trippier out for Mendy soon.
-Pickford, Foster, Stephens out on WC

I know its early but does it sounds good? Cheers

Keep faith in Ings. He has been very attacking. Should have scored against Chelsea and he has easy fixtures to come. Doherty is a good option in defence.

    Ederson (Hamer)
    Bennett Alonso Robbo Mendy (AWB)
    Hazard Maddison Rich (Fraser, 4.5m)
    Aguero Kane Arnautovic

    Reposting this as still stuck

    A. Kane, Kun, Fraser to Laca, Salah, Mitro
    B. Kane, Fraser to Salah, 5,4m forward
    C. Kane to Laca
    D. Save

    First to 3 wins

    Pick one (2 FTs):

    A. Foster + Trippier —> Patricio + Robertson
    B. Trippier + Ings —> TAA + Mitro/Arnie
    C. Trippier —> Robertson and save one FT

    Thanks guys!

That bench won't serve you well during the Xmas fixture pile up but guess that can be worked on with FTs before it gets there

I'd just sort out along the way if need be but they are all regular players besides the sub goalie.

Think I'd rather Mitro than Wilson for the upcoming spells

Just out of my price reach. Would need to downgrade someone to fit him in

    Aguero ➡️ Lacazette

    Son ➡️ Salah 2fts??

Always planned a way back for Salah when I got rid for Hazard on WC
