Sergio Aguero and Mohamed Salah are the big names in our latest Scout Picks selection.

We are expecting big things from the Manchester City and Liverpool attack in Gameweek 11 after revewing the latest Scout Squad pool.

After painful deliberation, we’ve picked out the best possible starting XI under £83m from Paul, Joe, Az and Peter’s choices. This week we line-up in the 3-5-2 formation.

Goalkeeper

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m) gets his hands on the goalkeeper slot this week as Burnley come to the London Stadium. He didn’t actually earn any top picks from our Scout Squad crew but was name-checked by all four. Jordan Pickford (£4.9m) was the pundits’ favourite but we’ve opted to save money with Fabianski and cover the Everton defence elsewhere. Burnley are the perfect opponent for West Ham this week, as they sit bottom of the league for shots, efforts in the box, goal attempts on target and big chances in the last four Gameweeks.

Defenders

Benjamin Mendy (£6.4m) was given strong backing by our Scout Squad crew this week. All but one of our pundits picked the Manchester City man as the top defender for Gameweek 11, Paul the only one to look elsewhere. That’s not surprising when he has a home match against Southampton coming up. The Saints have not scored for five matches in a row, while City have now accumulated eight consecutive clean sheets in all competitions. Throw Mendy’s creative abilities into the mix, with his six assists thus far, and you’ve got yourself a near-essential premium defender.

Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) is seen as the optimum way of capitalising on a Chelsea defence set to host Crystal Palace in Gameweek 11. He was Paul’s top pick while Joe, Az and Peter all selected him in second-place. Opponents Crystal Palace have been particularly poor in front of goal, just three sides registering fewer shots on target in the last four Gameweeks, so Alonso’s clean sheet potential is high. He also added a sixth assist of the campaign against Burnley to remind us that he is still capable of attacking returns.

Lucas Digne (£4.8m) is our cover for the Everton defence after he was name-checked by Joe, Az and Peter. The Toffees host a Brighton defence that has scored just three goals on their travels this season, only Cardiff have found the net fewer times away from home so far. Meanwhile, Digne has some involvement in set pieces and has proved to have great attacking potential in his advanced wing-back position.

Midfielders

Fresh from a 15-point haul against Cardiff, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) goes straight back into the Scout Picks for a Gameweek 11 trip to Arsenal. The Gunners have actually been incredibly vulnerable recently, with only Burnley allow more big chances than them in the last four Gameweeks. In two Premier League games against the Gunners so far in his career, Salah has three goals and an assist.

Including Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) in the Scout Picks was a very easy decision this week. The Everton man is top of the league for shots on goal in the last four Gameweeks and is behind just Paul Pogba when it comes to accurate efforts in that time frame. Coupled with Sigurdsson’s awesome goal threat and penalty taking duties is his chance creation potential, only David Silva playing more key passes than David Silva since Gameweek 7. Furthermore, next opponents Brighton rank 19th in that time for goal attempts conceded in the penalty area, only Burnley allowing more.

Willian (£7.4m) stands in for Eden Hazard (£11.3m) for the second week running after some interesting quotes from Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri. He believes that Hazard may play a part against Crystal Palace on Sunday but is uncertain whether he will start or be able to play 90 minutes. With Willian registering a goal and assist in his last two matches, 11 key passes and 10 shots we believe he can fill Hazard’s void in the Scout Picks once again.

Saturday afternoon will be an emotional occasion for Leicester City as they play their first match since the tragic passing of chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha at Cardiff. Our pundits are backing the Foxes to respond in the best possible way with a positive result in south Wales. Our pundits actually threw more support behind Jamie Vardy (£9.0m), earning a name-drop from all four, but we had to opt for James Maddison (£7.0m) to save some money. The midfielder remains their chief creator having played 12 key passes in the last four Gameweeks, only two FPL players have registered more in that time.

Roberto Pereyra (£6.1m) is back in form with two goals in as many matches since the international break. Watford’s new 4-2-3-1 formation appears to be getting the best out of him and he’ll be hoping for a third successive goal at Newcastle this weekend. Only three sides have allowed more shots in the penalty box than the Magpies since Gameweek 7 so Pereyra and his Hornets colleagues are sure to have plenty of opportunities at St James’ Park.

Forwards

Another home match for Manchester City, another clean sweep of top picks from our pundits for Sergio Aguero (£11.3m). Paul, Joe, Az and Peter all believe that the Argentinian will be on the scoresheet for the defending champions against Southampton as he continues to top the charts for shots inside the penalty box during the last four Gameweeks. That’s all with limited game-time too. The Saints come to the Etihad Stadium in the bottom five for shots allowed in the penalty area since Gameweek 7 – a perfect match-up for captain poll leader Aguero.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) completes the Scout Picks XI as our second striker. Paul, Joe and Az all chose the West Ham man as their number two options up front, and with good reason. Only Raheem Sterling has more touches in the penalty box in his last four appearances than Arnautovic. Meanwhile, Burnley remain the league’s most obliging defence, allowing more shots than any other side so far this season.

Substitutes

Fabian Balbuena (£4.4m) is our reserve defender this week after finally delivering on his offensive potential in the Gameweek 10 draw at Leicester. He has had more shots than all defenders apart from Matt Doherty in the last four Gameweeks and hosts that goal-shy Burnley outfit too.

Riyad Mahrez (£8.6m) has registered three double-figure hauls in his last five matches and has found the target with his shots more often than Aguero in that time. With another injury to Kevin de Bruyne, we think Mahrez will start again this week and will be involved in the inevitable Manchester City goals against Southampton.

Isaac Success (£4.5m) has become something of an FPL celebrity overnight now that he has emerged as the only starting forward in his price bracket. His underlying numbers don’t look too bad over his last two starts and we think there are offensive opportunities for Watford at Newcastle this weekend.

Community Champion

Representing the community against the Scout Picks in Gameweek 11 is Mince n Tatties. He has opted for a 5-3-2 formation of Kepa; Alonso, Rudiger, Mendy, Laporte, Walker; Salah, Mané, Maddison, Vardy, Arnautovic.

The community member who beats our picks by the biggest margin over the campaign will win a £100 Amazon Voucher and a place in our Contributors and Moderators League for the following season.

The Scouts have won six and lost four so far, fclackless defeating us 77-44 in Gameweek 10.

That 33 point margin has established fclackless as the current leader, with Eden Wizard‘s 77-68 Gameweek 2 win the previous best score.

If you watched arsenal last 3-4 games, you’d agree. Even vs Lei they could’ve easily conceded 3 goals.

Plus no left back. If Xhaka plays there again, bloodbath

I am doing the same, the Hazard news clinched it. Same reasons and I took a hit to get Mané in a week early as well. 🙂

This is the kind of game where Liverpool tend to turn it on actually. Could easily be a 2-4 or something crazy like that.

Bottomed. Thoughts on bringing in B.Silva? He has started 9/10 games this season, not KDB is out and Gundogan unlikely to be fit to start he should play centrally with D.Silva this week.

It would be Pereria and Richarlison to Dinge and B.Silva 2FT. Cheers.

Seeing a shortage of defenders in the 4.5 or below region. Considering Balbuena but already have Fabianski and not sold in a West Ham double up.

    Anyone doing this?

    1. Brosstan
      • 11 Years

Having Fabianski shouldnt influence the decision to get Balbuena or not. Hes either a good pick or hes not, Fabianski has nothing to do with it.

Not technically true. Having/playing double defence won't change your expected points Vs looking at them individually but it will increase your variance which is generally a bad thing

        1. Brosstan
          • 11 Years
          7 years, 1 month ago

Hmm, I disagree that increased variance is a bad thing (unless you have H2H leagues). Id always rather have a higher average with a higher SD than a lower average with a lower SD.

        Don’t think this it true,

        A, Fabs + (day) Duffy gives 3 possible outcomes - 0, 1 or 2 clean sheets
        B, Fabs + Balb give 2 possible outcomes - 0 or 2 clean sheets

I would always prefer the added chance of getting 1 clean sheet, as A above

I like a defender + keeper double up from Chelsea, City or Liverpool because they get lots of clean sheets .... not keen on most other teams.

I would rather spread the odds (risk & reward) when it comes to the keeper/ defender mix from weaker teams and split them. However having a 4.4 bench fodder defender that you will hardly play with Fabs anyway is not the end of the world 🙂

Id seriously take a hit for Fabianski to get hennessey out. Hes a liability with current fixtures and Fabianski should make up for the hit within a few weeks. Im guessing you want to get out Kane, Mitro and Pereira unless their form changes, so you are likely to want to make other transfers the coming weeks too, which puts you again in a situation of needing to take a hit to remove Hennessey. Just do it now.

I like Sterling (C) and Mane instead of Salah, but feel you are wasting some of the funds on Kane with current form.

Thanks for reply mate. Its a tricky one as all 3 are options. Im considering Doherty ahead of Robbo on the bench actually :p Im leaning towards Balbuena first because Burnley are so poor. Feel like Arsenal will score at home. Value the increased chance of CS for Balbz more than Robbos attacking prowess.

        Nice team.

Pereyra is actually owned by 20% of teams surprisingly. So he’s not really a differential at all.

You reckon Salah v Arsenal (A) will outscore Agüero v Southampton (H)?

I reckon kun will get a hat trick...

Hi Guys, any changes needed to this team? I have 2FTs 0.M ITB.

      Patricio (Hamer)
      TAA, Trippier, Alonso (Bennett, AWB)

I would be tempted to drop Hazard to fund and striker upgrade. Arnautovic / Vardy in for Jimenez, how much does that leave for a Hazard replacement?

Downgrading Maddison (or Rich) is much better way to get funds to get Arnie and perhaps upgrade defence.

I think the strikers need an overhaul more than defence. Mitrovic / Jimenez is pretty weak.

Fund it by dg Maddison or Rich

I usually go with the home player first, but Duffy has goal threat and Brighton have form in terms of clean sheets so i favour him.

I’m on a treble of under 2.5 goals in the Newcastle v Watford match and wolves v spurs and pool to win if you want to get on board, nearly 5-1

Man City over 2.5 home team goals

Apologies for repost. Thanks to Annie, 2+2 and Fagaazi for earlier replies. Couple or so more and I'll leave you all alone 🙂

Decided to hold my ft this week rather than punt it off with Barkley, or making a pants move like a keeper change. Really considering making a play next gwk -Agüero / Hazard -> Murray / Salah- to attack Fulham and Cardiff. Idea would be to either hold Salah through December, or use him to fund Kane should he and Spurs get their sh!t together. Sterling could also be an option./ Thoughts?

                Lössl
                Alonso, Mendy, Robertson
                Fraser, Mané, Hazard, Maddison

                Hart, Billing, Bennett, 3.9

Aguero + Hazard -> Murray + Salah seems really bad. Its something you should have done last week if you wanted to go for it, now it seems too late.

It does look rather bad doesn't it? I've been eyeing this up for a couple of weeks now. Fairly sure Murray nets one vs Cardiff and the obvious Salah bonanza vs Fulham is a must have I think. I'd also have a fortune to spare, like 2.5m which could get Sterling in for Mané. Or both he and Hazard very easily. Does that make it more appealing in your opinion? Cheers.

It looks very good for the Fulham game but not so sure for this week or the weeks after. With the money in the bank to get Sterling after it seems a bit more appealing for sure!

Cheers Brosstan. I've been inspired by the Egersdorff MTM to go for it, a touch more at least. Used to be a little too conservative before my fantasy hiatus. How does this sound...

                          gwk 11: save
gwk 12: Murray / Salah in
                          gwk 13: save
gwk 14: Sterling Hazard in for Mané Salah

Soaks up a potential mountain of captain points if all goes well.

Had a dream last night. Barkley got a red card and I came on here, just to see the fall out, which incidentally was wild.

With a potential Spurs CS would it be wise to start Kante over Jimenez?

If can get only of one of these on WC who it would be?

                      1) Maddison
                      or
                      2) Richarlison

                      A) Barkley
                      or
                      B) Deulofeu

Currently punting on 2A and then upgrade Barkley to Maddison by downgrading Wilson to Jiminez once Wolves vs Ars is done

If you had Alonso, your team would’ve been awesome. Without hazard (most likely), he’ll be attacking more I reckon

                      It's either for sub:
                      A. Robertson
                      B. Kennedy
                      C. Maddison

If you can only not play one?

No. He would be chewing Sarri's narcotine gum on the bench.

No but Sarri said he's good for 40-45 minutes. I'd guess he starts and plays 70. 😉
