The penultimate fixture in Gameweek 28 brought us yet another dramatic finale involving Arsenal as Arsene Wenger’s side bundled a winning goal at the death to deny a battling Newcastle.

Statistically, there were some outstanding performances on show which we will break down in a moment, along with our prediction for the Fantasy Premier League bonus points.

Firstly, there was also a dispute involving the assist for the winning goal. The assist for the touch on Theo Walcott’s cross was first awarded to Robin Van Persie and then removed and handed to Aaron Ramsey. It’s unclear whether Ramsey did indeed get a clear touch on the cross before it was blocked by the defender in the box but, interestingly, Opta have also confirmed a Ramsey touch on Walcott’s cross. While this goal and the award of the assist could yet be reviewed by the Press Association, right now it sits with Ramsey – denying Walcott his second assist on a night where he sparkled on the right flank.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thanks. With regards to the previous page I think it was just one of those weeks where there happened to be alot of CS. In the highly unpredictable PL it could well be the opposite this week with free scoring games.

What's the latest with the second Arsenal assist, will it stick with Ramsey or a chance it'll go back to Walcott? Anyone see the replay?

Looks like it came off the Newcastle defender last so technically noone should get the assist.

If its crossed into the box and a defender inside the box gets a touch, and another attacking player then scores then the assist goes to whoever crossed the ball.

In this case it looks like a Newcastle player and possibly both VP and Ramsey touched the ball before Verm, and i'd need to see a super slo-mo replay to work out what happened 😛

walcott was the creator though, it was his 'key pass'

Hmm, another red arrow, but not as bad as i'd feared. Still knocked me out of the top 100k by 636 places though.

On that note, due to inadequate forward planning, and a vague plan to keep Suarez til after the wigan game I am left needing to take a 4 point hit to get Rooney in for his current purple patch.

To get Rooney in for either Suarez or Ba I need to downgrade one of my big 4 in midfield - at various points I have been all set on shipping out either Silva, Bale, Dempsey or Valencia, but right now can't make a decision.

As the 0.1 on Rooney isn't that important should I just wait for a bit longer and think about it?

Yeah, I think I definitely want Dempsey, and I've kept Valencia this long it would be silly to sell just before he comes back against Wolves, so it comes down to dropping either Bale or Silva for a cheapie.

No Norwich mids due to rotation, I've been burnt before 😉
I have McClean, and Sigurdsson doesn't really rotate with him, even if he does seem like a great option.
And I'm not convinced by Miyachi or Morrison, so its a tough choice, Siggy is the stand-out choice at the heart of the swansea team, but..

Yeah, I've just held onto Valencia through his price drops and feel it would be silly to drop him just before a Wolves game where he could come back and do well.

I'll have plenty of cash if downgrading, I can afford to miss Rooney's price rise..

Sentimentality has no place in fantasy football..

      Injured- good luck

      Red card- cheerio.

It's about getting form players at the time. Valencia will prob be crap as he is coming back off an injury- flogging him for Rooney gives you united cover.

I shipped him for Ya ya immediately and although ya ya didn't produce it was 2 points more than valencia would have been contributing.

I'm on 53 with henderson and enrique(c) to come and my five midfielders only picked up 2 each.

I haven't had van Persie all season, but now I want to somehow fit him in. The thing is, I can't really get him without taking a -8 hit. Is this worth it?

Hmm, not so sure about that - while van persie is almost must-have, I'm not sure an 8 point hit now is the answer.

Could you do those moves over 2 weeks instead and take one less hit? How urgently do you want RVP?

Well, maybe I could wait a week and take a -4 hit instead. Arsenal will play Everton away this week so it's not gonna be that easy.

So do you reckon I should do those moves over 2 weeks then? Kompany & Nani to O'Shea & Valencia now and next week Suarez to RVP?

On paper Suarez at QPR is a nice fixture, though you'd then be shipping him out before Wigan at home, but I wouldn't worry about that when Arsenal will be playing Villa at home.

I'd wait and see on Valencia's fitness first.

Also i'd pick Bardsley for a nailed on Sunderland defender who is slightly cheaper. Turner is only 4.2, but will be rotation threatened once Brown or Bramble is back.

I'd just do Kompany to Bardsley this week, and take a 4 point hit the next as RVP is more likely to pay it back than Valencia

                O, Arsenal.

Yeah, we suck lately. Its like Spurs last year: we dominated United and Everton, but couldn't finish.

you gotta admit, your win today was jammy as hell, though. It wouldn't be Arsenal without a breakdown. That's what I'm crossing my fingers for, now.

well done to your club though. Playing really well, deserve all the credit you guys are getting.

I thought we have played fairly well lately, dominating our bogey team (United), and being the only team on the pitch second half versus Everton. Like someone said, we've won some games were we might not deserve it, so its normal that we lose a couple were we deserved something more.

The performance at the Emirates was really atypical of how we've done this season.

With the fixtures we've got, we should be back purring soon.

Imo you're more suited playing with 1 up top instead of both Ade and Saha (except that game against Newcastle iirc) bit similar to Ba and Cisse.

Yeah that win was jammy, could see fatigue is crippling in. I said before we wont win anything with such a shit bench like the dross we have now. Just hoping Wenger spends on several more established players and the deadwoods can feck right off.

I think I agree. I miss VDV playing like VDV.

I also think playing Modric at right wing is bad. They should have just played Kranjcar on the wing and left Sandro on the bench.

        Thanks buddy!

I was gonna give you hard time about your advice for me always being wrong, since you told me to play Raylor over Caulker (although I was already going to do it.)

I'm as lucky as I can get. I avoided hits all year, and just wanted to use this week for maintenance. I was willing to take a some losses for that, to get my team in a reasonable place. I got a lot more than I reckoned.

I do wish Ba had done something to show how dumb people are for selling him for Suarez, but I'll take what I can get.

I was watching it and thought Ba assisted the first goal, followed immediately by VP scoring, put me in a great mood til i found out Ba didnt actually get any points 😉

I think he's still a great shout, but if he doesn't perform against Norwich he may have to go

Win L5, Top 1k, UCL Winner (or at least quarters)

            In that order.

L5 is the best collection of players in a H2H I've ever seen, and some very cool people, as well. As soon as it got together, I realized it was the most important thing for me.

I finished just inside the top 5k last year, this year I want more for ranking.

            How about you?

lol I was friends with Jafa, that's how.

Actually, that might be the very reason he DOESNT let me in next year.

he kinda hates me now, for some reason.

Very nice. Guess you already have L5 in the bag, Ryan was saying he's won his clash vs Jafa.

For me, Top 1k will be a dream in my debut year.
My 2nd objective is to use the 2nd WC wisely - need my post-WC team to beat pre-WC team by atleast 50 points until the end.

True that. The Jan WC worked out terrible for me. My pre-WC team was the shitz and then came this forced WC upon us.

Looking to clarify a few questions before i WC:
                  1) Is Ba worth it? Waiting for Norwich. If not, who for 3rd striker? Not many form options at the moment. Barfa for cheap New attacking coverage?
                  2) Has the Liv/Tot defence just died down?
                  3) The sacred 3rd United player spot? Nani/Val/Young?
                  4) Are Sunderland capable of continuing this dream run to challenge for the Top 6?
                  5) Stick with Bale/Silva or move to cheap mids & upgrade elsewhere?
                  6) Tot/Che/Liv DGW possible due to FA Cup?

                  and more....

                    1. I think I'm holding Ba, but only because I have other, pressing issues. If youre planning on getting id of Dempsey at week 30, Pog might be a good replacement. Odemwingie might be an option, too. Adebayor is probably the best bet, if oyu can find the cash.
                    2. Liverpool will come good. That Sunderland goal was flukey. I'll probably dish one of the two I have, but they are a good investment. I can't say I'm quite as excited for Spurs, but their fixtures are so good, it could be worth it. I guess I could never go for King or Kaboul though, with rotation, so I would want BAE, who is pricier than he should be.
                    3. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Jones. Just skip the rotation headache and get in on the defense.
                    4. No, they aren't. They just aren't as good as we thought. Good defensively, and Sess is a good prospect, but no, they can't finish top 6, imo. Fixtures are too ugly for fantasy investment, too. I guess I could see getting Sess in GW 33, but even then, it doesnt look great.
                    5. Stick. Are there really that many great cheap mids? Is there really a better place to be spending that cash? I think not, espeically in Bale's case when their fixtures improve.
                    6. Lets not worry about it until it happens. Besides, would you even want Chelsea/Liverpool coverage if there was? Even if Spurs have a double, you should have some of their players already.

                    1) Depends on the Norwich game. Last chance! Consider Ade/Pog/Tevez 😕
                    2) No. Good fixtures coming up will put them in good stead
                    3) At the moment its too hard to call. Wait till after GW29
                    4) No
                    5) Both on shaky ground. Tentatively stick with Bale, lose Silva (injury niggle)
                    6) Yeah I think Spurs will get the DGW but there will be a blank also

1 Barfa definitely an option if he can continually get 60+ minutes... Odem may very well become my third striker if he keeps up his good form...
2 Spurs fixtures too good not to have one of their defenders for the run in...
                    3 Still Valencia for me...
4 That bubble has burst IMO - avoid...
5 Bale all the way... better options than Silva IMO, maybe Walcott?
6 That DGW won't get too much of my attention, I don't think...

What kind of calculations gives you that number, Elnino? And do you have a plan on when to use it? Zep is right, its burning a hole!

The L5 is not in the bag, but this week could be huge. Jafa losing and myself winning would be a really nice cushion.

Problem is, my L5 fixtures for the next 8 or so is REALLY tough.

No more frustrating than me last week, TW. I thought I was playing you, so I cheered when Ba missed his peno. Little did I know that missed peno was costing me my tie with Bayern.

lol I can't tell you my plans! We're opponents next week! Away wins will be precious in a group like ours, so next week is crucial. I will say this: I don't really think getting rid of Sess is a priority, if I'm honest.

I totally admit I was lucky. I was just sitting around yesterday, pretty much having given up, but knowing I had come close for the second week in a row(I actually outscored Bayern last week, but lost on away points) And I just thought: wow, how awesome would it be if Raylor sat out.

Ha! Jammy one, there. Jammy like Arsenal today.

You should probably think about getting rid of Sess, I suppose.

i wasn't asking specifically i was asking more broadly. just like i will admit i will probably get rid of taiwo or sess next week but things are still up in the air. agreed! thats why i'm rather disappointed as i thought i had an away win... you mean getting rid of dyer?

ohh ouch that's unfortunate but i guess thats the way of the competition. haha now i hate you and your influential thinking. not to mention that i hate raylor even more now. and im beginning to hate city players, got me knocked out of the fantasy cup, destroyed my gw last week, and failed to score against swansea this week giving you the win.... gahhh. and man i thought i pulled a stroke of genius by starting kelly only to have them get scored on right at the end.

yupp. congrats to you mate! yeah i heard. didn't get to watch it because i live in the states so the game happened right when i was in the middle of class

yeahh its probalby him or taiwo who seems to keep getting rotated out but i may end up trying something a bit more risky 😉

I think Ba and B Arfa would be an ideal pairing up front. This is what I envisaged before Xmas and it still hasn't become a reality. When Raylor gets back I hope he keeps B Arfa in the starting team for Newcastle's sake.

      Hey Fuzzy

As things stand you are on 37 and he is on 34 (Bale's 2pts)...

You have Suarez (c) and Carragher (or Senderos' 2pts) to come and he only has Suarez (c)

Unless Carragher plays, scores and own goal and gets sent off you cant lose...

      Good man... 🙂

    a) Skrtel -> Kaboul (avoids doubling on LIV defence and generates enough cash to have the option of doing Walcott & Suarez -> Bale & Adebayor in GW31

    b) Nani -> Young

    c) Save the transfer

    d) Sumfink else

    Mignolet, (Bogdan)
    JEvans, Enrique, Skrtel, (Caulker), (Shotton)
    Nani, Dempsey, Walcott, Siggurdson, (Surman)

Nani to Young is not only sideways, its too early. Need more data, first, unless you're convinced.

I'm just not sure about Spurs' defense right now. Maybe its better than I think, but I just don't know.

So I pick D. Get rid of Suarez, lol.

Yeah, Nani -> Young is very knee jerky and is my least favourite of the 4. If confirmed out of the w/e game with Wolves though, that changes things somewhat...

I think Spurs have a decent defence, and Kaboul seems fairly nailed on. He also adds a bit of goal threat and is cheaper than the full backs. Great fixtures too. I think I'd rather have 1 LIV and 1 TOT defender from now till the end than 2 LIV defenders. This is my favourite option right now, as it also makes Walcott & Suarez -> Bale & Ade possible in GW31, should they start showing some form.

Suarez is going in GW31 for Ade, unless he sets the world alight in the next 2. QPR and WIG...surely...SUUUURREEELLLY 😉

O, big time for sure. We are not playing well at all, especially in front of goal.

But then again, at least we have a decent bench. If any of your important players get hurt again, you'll start dropping points to bad teams again, and we will coast.

That entire last sentence is to make me feel better about the fact that I am sh*tting myself in fear over finishing behind you guys.

Haha, I've a load of mates who are Spurs fans, and they've been gloating for months.

"We're gonna finish 15 points ahead of you" was mentioned....

I think it will be really close, and can't call it. We've hit a purple patch, but you can't really on last minute goals every week. Reckon we'd be over-achieving with our squad if we do get 3rd - I won't go on, but Wenger HAS to keep RVP and spend at least 50m in the summer if he wants to challenge for the title next year. Spurs don't really need to spend anything, other than perhaps a marquee striker. You could do with keeping 'Arry though...

      c) Remember Suarez could still do something tomorrow and against QPR. Having 2FT's also gives you more flexibility in a weeks time to assess United wing options etc. I can also see Liverpool getting a clean sheet soon.

Did some number crunching to compare Silva and Yaya Toure. I know this has been done to death but the last 3 starts for each post ACON is interesting.

    In summary

    - Toure is more influential but Silva is more creative, they both have the same threat. Yaya has a slightly higher ICT index

    - Both have the same amound of shots but Silva is more accurate. However Yaya also offers an aerial threat

    - Toure is more involved in the passing with more touches and more successful dribbles. However Silver has more thru balls

Basically they are both fairly even and I see no reason as to why Silva is 3m more. The money is better spent elsewhere for sure.

We were just discussing this yesterday. The higher influence has mainly been cos of Mancini's 5 mids strategy in the last 4 weeks. Clearly, it hasn't worked. He'll be back to 2 strikers and yaya will be pushed back deeper. Even considering his advanced role, he hasn't done much.

For me its simple. Silva or no-one, from City attack.

Fair call that. I will be interested to see how things go if Tevez is reintroduced into the side. I'd say now would be a good time for Mancini to start him or at least bring him on from the bench. My other concern is Silva's injury niggle.

    Stick or twist?

    Schwarzer (Vorm)
    Evans, Enrique, Simpson (Kelly, Kompany)
    Silva, Dempsey, Bale, Siggy (McClean)
    Ba, Rvp, Rooney

Half thinking Kompany -> Jones (would only lose .1m on him)
Or maybe just leave it and see what happens at the weekend, plenty of defensive options next GW as it is.
