The penultimate fixture in Gameweek 28 brought us yet another dramatic finale involving Arsenal as Arsene Wenger’s side bundled a winning goal at the death to deny a battling Newcastle.

Statistically, there were some outstanding performances on show which we will break down in a moment, along with our prediction for the Fantasy Premier League bonus points.

Firstly, there was also a dispute involving the assist for the winning goal. The assist for the touch on Theo Walcott’s cross was first awarded to Robin Van Persie and then removed and handed to Aaron Ramsey. It’s unclear whether Ramsey did indeed get a clear touch on the cross before it was blocked by the defender in the box but, interestingly, Opta have also confirmed a Ramsey touch on Walcott’s cross. While this goal and the award of the assist could yet be reviewed by the Press Association, right now it sits with Ramsey – denying Walcott his second assist on a night where he sparkled on the right flank.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Does Rosicky look assured of a start for now? tempted to bring him in for Walters?? He looked pretty good last night, one dire miss apart..

Verm always pops up now and again for goals but hes not a consistent goalscoring threat. Also Arsenal rarely get clean sheets so the balls in your court.

Agreed. Ox, Gervinho, Rosicky and Ramsey will all get rotated and Song and Arteta don't do enough offensively to warrant bringing in. Not expecting much from Walcott this w/e, but my bench is so bad he has to start.

I brought him in last week for Walters. He's been in form of late, cheap, decent fixtures. I thought he was the best player on the pitch last night. Worth a punt, although now both Arteta & Ramsey are back there's the rotation threat there for sure.

And on that miss, quite a lot of the blame has got to go to Walcott too imo. Rosicky was free, he could've just rolled it nicely to him so he could run on to it and smash it in. But he waited and waited and waaaaaaited, then played it with too much pace at his left foot. Don't get me wrong, it was poor from Rosicky, but Walcott could, and should, have made it sooooo much easier for Rosicky there.

I'd also go with Rooney as Man Utd need to press on now and start winning these games with big goal difference now we are in the lead. RVP on the other hand, is playing against an Everton side at home bursting with confidence after beating Spurs.

Its close as RVP is always full of goals but I think Rooney might nick this one. I would also easily predict a Manutd penalty at some time during the match.

Away at Arsenal is a very tough game... hard to judge any player really. Ba never looked like scoring, but you wouldn't put it past him scoring a couple home against Norwich next week. Santon sub was tactical, which doesn't bode well for him. Simpson definitely the better option.

Stick with Simpson - santon was embarrassed by walcotts pace for 45 mins - likely to be dropped when up against raw pace IMO.

Ba was extremely quiet. To be fare Newcastle did not really emerge out of their half so he wasnt given the chance to deliver. Only 1 goal has come his way since ACON so I'm getting a twitchy finger over him now!

In a race they were close. But tactically he couldn't deal with the pace and turn. He was either too close or too distant. His positioning was poor and IMO it was because he was unsure how to deal with the pace.

    DEMPSEY

unsure myself on what to do with him so had a look at the stats

against the top 5 clubs hes scored: 2,5,2,2,2,9,2 so averaged 3.42
away hes scored 50 in 14 so averaged 3.57
home hes scored 101 in 14 so averaged 7.21

    looking at his fixtures

SWA, mun, NOR, bol, CHE, liv, WIG, eve, SUN, tot

and going on this form youd only really expect him to score well in gameweeks 29, 31, 35 and 37

with bale vdv nani young valencia similarly proced and with nice fixtures i think ill be getting rid

I agree. I'll have a Spurs midfielder in my team for those weeks, thinking about dropping Silva soon. Valencia or Young / Bale or VDV / Dempsey for the run in plus one other but nobody is jumping out at me at the moment.

He's a keeper for me I think. Silva is close to the chop. Bale has slowed down. Dempsey is still delivering as I would hope / expect. There decent home fixtures so just drop him away if you feel sure he won't deliver away!

Im keeping personally, I love the Dempseter, he's fairly consistent and I think he's the sort of player u get the best from over a long spell, although most of my rivals have cottoned on to him now, unsurprisingly so I may need to get rid for a differential.

I think the other players u mentioned are decent options but their is a draw back with each. The United contingent, theirs gonna be rotation, u wont get that with Dempsey. Bale is not really cutting the mustard, it may be a blip but for starters he needs to be put back on the left and it just seems Spurs have lost some momentum, I think the settled team they had was a benefit before, now it seems maybe the players know the 11 every week so don't have to really fight for their place, plus now the title is gone, is the desire still their? Maybe Arsenal breathing down their neck will Spur (see what I did their) them on. Some of this refers to VDV, but what worries me about him is a lack of form and he went seriously off the boil the end of last season, if u need a differential tho, he might be worth going for.

good points, im planning to keep a freebie this week, downgrade one of nani/dempsey next week then bring spurs coverage in for gwk31 so plenty of time to decide

just got a feeling on vdv - plus hes always at home when rvp/rooney are away

Yeah I may have to punt on someone like VDV, as I say everyone above seems to have Dempsey now so that differential has disappeared.

The Spurs are pretty hard to ignore but they need to hit some form again.

Arsenal generallly played well though, so I imagine most players put in some extra work. The amount of times RVP should've pulled the ball back or stitched up a team-mate (Lampard-esque) was criminal. If he's Capt, great, but Verm, Sagna, Walcott, Ox were all better. Its just a bit lazy to give him 3.

After seeing Man Citys last games and Silvas diminishing returns I'm finding it hard to justify keeping him in my team for another gameweek. Allthough I thought he would be seasons keeper, I see more value right now in Ashley Young than Silva.

This leaves me without City cover, but except from Balotelli I see no value in any of their players (maybe there is some in the defenders, if you somehow manage to pick the right one). Am I right, because I think it's time to be a little more creative, and having a generic team won't do any good at this point?

Never thought RVP would get the 3, especially when he got the yellow. Now on 60 for the GW with skirtel to play tonight.

Wouldn't have Walcott from GW 31 onwards tbh, neither Yaya, Huth? Waste of money imo. Shotton if nailed on is better, that's just my 2 cents, wonder what JohnD thinks of this team. 😉
