Now that Gameweek 13 is upon us after the final international break of 2018, we can conclude our Watchlist update.

We’ve already analysed the changes to goalkeepers, defenders and midfielders and now it’s the turn of the forwards.

Sergio Aguero (£11.5m) remains top of the Watchlist in this position. The Manchester City man has registered more shots than any other player this season and has more FPL points than any other forward (80). The fixtures aren’t good or bad for Aguero over the next four Gameweeks with three of them being away from home. The Argentinian has struggled on the road of late but the defences of West Ham and Watford especially have been suspect this season.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.1m) holds onto second place despite a tricky match-up with Manchester City this weekend. That meeting does not take away from the fact that West Ham’s schedule is incredibly appealing after it. They top the attacking section of our Season Ticker between now and Gameweek 19 with Newcastle (away), Cardiff (home), Crystal Palace (home), Fulham (away), Watford (home) and Southampton (away) all to come. The player is some form with a goal and an assist in his last four matches but his underlying statistics suggest he has the potential to explode in the coming weeks.

Raúl Jiménez (£5.8m) has climbed back up the Watchlist after defying the odds against Spurs and Arsenal. The stock of Wolves assets took a dip ahead of those two tough fixtures but the Mexican forward came out with 20 points from them. With the fixtures turning back in his favour, Huddersfield and Cardiff up next, the value that Jiménez can offer is excellent.

As Brighton top the Season Ticker for attacking potential over the next four Gameweeks, Glenn Murray (£6.7m) creeps up the rankings. Crucially, two of his upcoming matches are to be played at the Amex Stadium, against Leicester and Crystal Palace in Gameweek 13 respectively. Murray has scored in all but one of his outings in front of his own fans this season. While he has mustered just one away goal so far, his Gameweek 16 opponents Burnley have given up more shots than any other side in 2018/19.

Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) may be in poor form and be a slight injury doubt ahead of Gameweek 13, but Leicester’s fixtures still have some potential to them. Over the next three, they face Brighton, Watford and Fulham who combine for a total of just six clean sheets from a possible 36 in 2018/19. Conversely, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m), is in better form with five goals and one assist in his last five matches but faces some tough fixtures. Arsenal have Bournemouth (away) next before a double-header of rivalry matches against Spurs (home) and Manchester United (away).

Callum Wilson (£6.8m) is another in-form option with a tricky-looking set of fixtures. It’s four goals in his last five matches but Arsenal (home), Manchester City (away) and Liverpool (home) between now and Gameweek 16. Álvaro Morata (£8.7m) is yet another striker in a similar position. He has scored three times since Gameweek 10, averaging 6.33 points per match, but Chelsea have rather unappealing fixtures. It’s Spurs (away) next, before Wolves (away) and Manchester City (home) in Gameweeks 15 and 16 respectively.

Harry Kane‘s (£12.3m) latest price fall is indicative of his value to FPL managers, as it continues to drop. Spurs have Chelsea (home) and Arsenal (away) as their next two matches while Kane has just two attacking returns since Gameweek 8. Isaac Success (£4.6m) props up the Watchlist as the only active starting striker at his price point. That said, the fixtures are rotten for Watford and Success himself has just one goal this season.

Sess (6.0) if Ranieri deploys him in a 4-4-2 with Mitro, and Cairney (4.8) if the Italian manager opts for a 4-2-3-1 with Tom playing the number 10 role. Fulham are a wait and see prospect for mine

Don't think I have ever captained a player not in the top 2 in FFS captaincy poll.

    Can't believe Kun is 3rd.

    - Plays for the most attacking team in the league
    - Plays against a poor defense - 1 clean sheet all season
    - Big pitch suits City - will stretch the game and give more space
    - Betting odd suggest City likely to score more goals than EVE or LIV
    - Kun better goalscorer odds, hat-trick odds compared to Mo and Richarlison

So what is the rationale behind the top two?

Yes but he will play 60-70 mins, there are other options that probably have a higher points ceiling than he does - based off what we know.

This, and we don't know how many minutes he'll get. No one expected him to get 90 against Southampton.

Also the CL midweek reason makes no sense to me. Jesus has been playing the CL games and City are top of their group. I'd be more worried about limited minutes for Salah who was a crucial game against PSG coming up.

Two seasons ago he scored more goals away than he did at home. Crazy to me that people are looking at his numbers this season and writing him off even though he's played Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and a solid Wolves defence in 4 of his 5 away games.

But why put it out to the press and the public. Who does that help? This is very much astonishing, it just shows he has absolutely no faith in any of those players though

        1. SADIO SANÉ
          • 10 Years
          7 years, 2 months ago

have you actually read what he said? he was being interviewed - people moan about players/managers giving boring/cliched interviews and then when they actually say something of substance people cry about it.

Nothing whatsoever in there to suggest he has no faith in them - he's talking about people of that age more widely, and is using them to make a point. Young adults these days, especially footballers who have everything done for them, are immature and don't take responsibility for things like they should do, that's his point.

          1. fedolefan
            • 11 Years
            7 years, 2 months ago

Think you need to understand that when he talks like that, he's trying to deflect blame off himself for their struggles. This isn't the first time he's gone on about Shaw, Rashford et al. There's always a question from the press along those lines for a reason. Listen and contrast what he says about Lingard, Shaw to what Pep, Klopp say about Sterling, Jesus, TAA etc

it doesn’t show he has no faith. What he said is so true and is true of 90% of modern footballers. You also don’t know what the question was do jumping on it is so dull without hearing the full interview.

        • 11 Years

Mourinho's full quotes as per Bemba's post above.

"They are spoilt kids now, the kids of today have a different life, an easier environment and I’m talking about the people around the players. These people give them too much affection and too many excuses. People mature much more slowly now. We’re talking about Luke Shaw, Martial, Lingard, Rashford – young, big potential, but at the end of the day it results in the word I cannot say, but you use it a lot here… character, personality, they lack a little."

^And that's why so many are skeptical to buy Martial going into a congested fixture period.

No matter how good Martial is, Mourinho clearly has an issue with him.

Yeah but he probably also fears for his job and won't leave out a guy in that form, even if he is probably doing it selfishly as a January shop window exercise.

The league is more important given their league position.

Only avenue for CL next year would be to secure a top four position as they won't be winning the CL anytime soon.

I doubt Ed Woodward or Mourinho feel the league is more important than the Champions League at this stage of the season.

If United were to lose to Young Boys it goes to the wire, against Valencia in Spain - nobody at the club wants that. Also, that Valencia game is 3 days before they play Liverpool at Anfield, believe me, they'll want qualification wrapped up this week so they can rotate in Spain.

    6. Vobinho

If he left Martial out now given the form he is in, and Utd lost games because of that choice then imo he would get the sack.

Especially with the fact that Utd probably know Martial's potential and would want that to increase yearly to improve him into a future start of the team.

He stays in the side until his form drops at least.

    7. SADIO SANÉ
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 2 months ago

nothing to do with Martial personally imo - he seems to have an issue with young players in general - they lack fight because they have everything done for them and people make excuses for them all the time. He's making a very good point and I believe he's hoping to change their attitude by pointing it out and not babying them like everyone else does (including you right now 😉 ).
