Captains

Vote in the Gameweek 15 captain poll

Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool options are expected to all receive heavy backing in the Gameweek 15 captain poll.

You can now vote in that at the bottom of this article or on the sidebar of our website.

Defending champions Man City are away at Watford where they have scored 11 goals in their last two visits. Which of their assets emerges as the most popular captain choice could be dictated by team selection more than anything else.

Sergio Aguero (£11.4m), who missed the Gameweek 14 win over Bournemouth through injury, has scored five goals in his last two visits to Vicarage Road. Whether he will play in the match remains to be seen and all eyes will be on Pep Guardiola’s next press conference.

Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) is in scintillating form with four goals and four assists since Gameweek 11 and his ownership has ballooned to 18.5%. That should ensure he has plenty of support in the poll, but it will be interesting to see what impact his rotation risk could have. Such a quick turnaround between the Bournemouth and Watford matches could be just the justification Pep Guardiola needs to rest Sterling.

Leroy Sané (£9.4m) could also feature heavily considering his role in the Man City side. The recent injury to Benjamin Mendy has boosted his chances of starting matches so he may well retain his place. He has three goals and four assists in his last four appearances.

Alternatively, David Silva (£8.7m) and Riyad Mahrez (£8.6m) could prove interesting captain choices for those that own them. The fact that neither of them started against Bournemouth implies that they will be on the team sheet against Watford.

The uncertainty around Manchester City’s selection policy could be the reason that Harry Kane (£12.4m) receives a healthy share of this upcoming vote. There are no such concerns about rotation with the England captain and he now has a goal or an assist in each of his last four matches. He faces a Southampton defence that has averaged 2.29 goals conceded per away match this season.

Perhaps with the best fixtures match-up is Liverpool as they travel to test themselves against the 2018/19 whipping boys. Burnley have allowed more shots than any other side in the Premier League this season, even conceding a whopping 29 in their 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. Such numbers mean that Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Sadio Mané (£9.9m) will receive some consideration.

Is having both Billing (4.5) and Gunnarsson (4.4) on my WC a recipe for disaster?

      Comes down to either

      A. Sane and Billing, or
      B. Anderson and Lamela/Pedro/Fraser

But they will have many cameos and you can’t afford 1pts that often and even when they start no guarantee they will make up the points lost

Nope. You can still take budget defenders and non playing goalkeeper to fill the bench.
Mistake is to fill bench with mid priced players, like Jiminez or BOU attackers.

Will get Auba next week on a WC so in the meantime, was thinking Aguero & Laporte > Kane & Balbuena.

WC next week would then look like this.

    Fabianski, Hamer
    Robertson, TAA, Daniels, Balbuena, AWB
    Sterling, Sane, Richarlison, F.Anderson, Gunnarsson
    Kane, Auba, Jimenez

Balbuena could easily become Schindler & TAA possibly Bellerin although might be 0.1 short.

How do I get Kane in? Doherty to 4.0 defender?
    Robbo - Alonso - Keane - Doherty - Wan-Bis
Salah- Hazard - Richarlison - Fraser - Hojbjerg
    Aguero - Arnie -Wilson

Theoretically I can sell Salah but I would like to sell him for Sterling, and I suspect he will be benched on Teusday so maybe it's not the best idea... Thoughts?

Which combo would you prefer for the next two gw's only?

    A: Sane/Eriksen + Martial + Jimenez (CHE,new) + Kane
    B: Salah + Martial + Balbuena + Kane (-4)
    C: Salah + Fraser/Wally (both have 2 home fix) + Jimenez + Kane
    D: Son + Martial + Jimenez (in gw15 and Lacazette in gw16) + Kane

    - Leaning towards B as i think Salah and Martial will play midweek and Balbuena has 2 good fix with chances for goal/baps
    - D is tempting too but not sure if Son will start. if he does, then i will be keen on that

Was all set on bringing in Auba instead of Kane but then found auba had unsustainable shot on target to goal conversion of 100% Even now failing Martial had it lower. Auba has had 3 goals from 3 shots on target in last 4 matches. Atleast Kane (c) vs Soton looks reliable

With me wanting Auba it’s not really possible. Would have to take like a -8 to remove Arnie and Alonso.

If Sterling does score points, likely that Dilva and Sane will be involved. That’s my thinking, anyway.

    £0.4 itb 1 FT
    Fab
    Alonso, Robbo, Duffy, Schindler
    Salah (C), Haz*, Sané, Fraser
    Kun*, Wilson
    (Foster) (Doherty, Diangana, Success)

I have my WC and will play it probably GW17 if that helps!
Obviously options A and C have no Spurs for the SOU fixture but can't decide if they really are essential or can wait for a WC

    Thanks in advance

      I did A,

Already have Sterling & Sane but no Salah (he has disappointed for too long)
Got Haz & hoping he comes good at Wolves otherwise he may make way for Fanderson to have Wilson/Arnie, Auba & Kane up front. (Not seen anything special in Spurs at present may all change)

        Cheers mate. Makes sense

Do you think Sterling will start midweek? I’d love to have him but now seems the wrong time to get in

Save and B next week. Chelsea have city next week and Arsenal have Huddersfield. Save yourself a minus 4.

The only reason I am considering Kane is fear. That’s it.

fear of him scoring or having Aguero injured wasting on your bench

Also he is capable of scoring a hatty without playing well like he did in the World Cup

    call me crazy, but

    Sterling+Kun> Sane+Kane

Have a feeling Raheem might be rested.

Other option is keep Sterling, Alonso out for someone up to 5.7 and Kun Kane. 2fts

There got to be some other than Sterling in your team to sacrifice

People selling Sterling just baffles me.

Only reason i even considered it is because he would get rotated otherwise agree.

Is Doherty worth keeping on a WC? I am thinking either

A Kolasinac as really getting forward and looks value at 4.9m

B Balbuena saves bit of cash but not sure want West Ham defence double ( with Fabianski)

So think favouring- assumes Trippier fit for midweek game. Any thoughts on this?!

Looking ahead of the Christmas period and into January and later, is having 2 city mids realistic? All the other mids will be starting week in week out whereas the city mids will be rotated every now and again so will they really keep up with the likes of Hazard/Spurs mid/Salah once the rotation factor is over

There is always rotation especially around Holiday fixtures its even more of a lottery then normal.

Every week I have an excuse to not bring in Sterling.

    It has to end.
