The 16 fixtures that make up the fifth round of the Members Paddy Power Cup II can be viewed right here. It’s the halfway stage of the competition, and with the two favourites eliminated in round four, it’s anybody’s to win at this stage.

We’ve now only got two Fantasy managers currently residing in the top 1000 overall, and they are only there by the skin of their teeth. Round three’s top-scorer, Bob Fossil, is now the man to beat sitting 941st in the world. He’s been drawn against 3,578th Fuzzy Dunlop.  Hot on Bob’s heels is 958th Daveclark85, who has also been been dealt a tough hand against 3,752nd overall howie_c.

At the other end of the spectrum, the lowest-ranked Fantasy manager in the tournament is Zizo, who sits 293,726th in the world – which itself isn’t too bad bad this season (or so I keep telling myself). Handed the ‘most favourable’ fixture is The Lord (3,352nd).

All fixtures will be played over Gameweek 29. Good luck to all.

Finally, another reminder that we’re still taking entries for the fifth Paddy Power Cup. Entry is free and open to all – full details here.

I'd be a bit worried if I were you about the lack of Real Madrid attacking midfield players, given that they are likely to demolish Apoel.

Who does everyone think will score more points this week:

      Suarez

      or

      Ba?

Just a quick poll if anyone isn't too bored of answering this and similar inane questions this afternoon!

Ba.....I hope....just sold Suarez. Reckon 'pool will concentrate and play best game in FA Cup at the weekend and then be a bit flat three days later, playing away to QPR on a rainy evening game.

Ba vs Notwich has got to do something at home...

Depends on which "'pool" plays the FA Cup match. Poor Kenny has faith in each of the carnations of a line-up he throws out there I just hope he doesn't overuse my Gerrard/Suarez duo that served me so well last week. I could care less about the other 9.

Suarez. Though I will say I think, to my recollection, that the Canaries don´t play a particularly high line defensively. So that could mean a bit more chances in the air for him as well as a knock-down partner.

Alreet. Reply from the previous page. Still no news on raylors injury. But i can’t see him getting in the team as oop. Barfa has earned a decent run. Possibly at left back, but for me, even though Santon hasn’t been great, he’s still been infinitely better than raylor. Though pardew might decide to rest santon v norwich and play raylor.

Mrs China Mag is probably going to captain Ba, so yes, I think he will start firing.

Ha, my reply got lost on the last post as well - repost:

t looks to me like the chickens have finally come to roost and Raylor has stopped defying logic.

I have Santon and because he was recently subbed off for Raylor (I think at halftime) I was worried that his place at LB might be under threat from Raylor (again inexplicably, as Santon is a new marquee signing and a quality player). Any risk?

What’s up with Ba? Why’s he not doing it like he was earlier?

Its possible he might rest santon and play raylor as we are "only" playing norwich at home. But Santon will surely be the more long term pick. I have santon, and will stick with him. But to be honest, thats only because he is cheap, and rotates great with caulker and senderos. I think that next season he could be great option as he is awesome going down the wing.

Ba has only been back a few games. He has scored, missed a penalty and hit the woodwork a couple of times. He was never going to do anything against arsenal with the way we were set up. Mrs China Mag is going to give him the game with Norwich and then decide whether to ship him or suarez out for RVP (don't ask!!). Anyone looking to get rid of him before we play Norwich at home wants their head examined.

Someone mentioned a while ago that it's ridiculous how Santon gets down the wing so much and yet has had no assists so far. I agree, it's coming.

I'm keeping Ba for Norwich. I think how he does against them will clarify whether he's worth keeping. I don't think he's suddenly a different player, I just reckon Newcastle's switch to a 2-striker system might have affected the performances of the team and him. Lack of strength in midfield to supply him.

To be honest, and I think ATB has mentioned this a few times, we have played two strikers all season. The only difference is that previously whoever partnered Ba was a bit rubbish (Best or Ameobi) so everybody passed to Ba. Now we have two decent strikers, the dynamic has changed a little. But it will hopefully lead to an increase in assists for Ba.

To be honest, i think we are going to do some damage to somebody sometime soon. It could be this weekend. Norwich aren't exactly great defensively. We are feeling aggrieved after the arsenal game (only because of the timing of the goal, arsenal were definitely the better team). I think we could give Norwich a hiding. Goals for the double dembas this week.

Yeah I think Newcastle have the players to thrash someone if they play it right. Norwich could be that team.

Thing is, with both Dembas vying for goals, I can't feel safe captaining Ba. Especially this week. It has changed the dynamic as you say; not everyone passes it to Ba anymore.

To be specific you're right, Newcastle have played two strikers all season. It's just that they definitely were playing a supporting role, and they did it pretty well, particularly Best who was a great partner for Ba IMO.

If I could get the average positions before and after Cisse that would be interesting...

You might be right about a payback week, but there seem to be a lot of teams this week with that opportunity (Citeh, Fulham, Spurs, WBA). Could be a few hattricks this weekend...

Isacki I think it's more of the set up of teams. An aspect many FF aficionados don´t look up is how or when the ´scouting report´of other teams or how a certain team will play players. many times this is the barometer that managers like SAF look at things. We will see now that a lot more teams will play him a certain way...a way we already knew that Arsenal would play him (and I assume Pardew knew as well) with the high-line defensively. Man United chose to go with age and size, which is strangely what SAF always seems to do against clubs that get at you through the air.

Again that does not determine if a players is fit to play. Yes they only have the PL to concentrate on but that does not mean everyone if fit because they don't have the distraction of other competitions.

Don't see the logic in flying someone out to Spain if they are unable to play. I think Fergie chose not to risk him incase he got injured in a game that is not their priority. Probably wanted to see him train pre match to assess ahead of Wolves.

If a particular physio or doctor that a player is working with accompanies the team they will want that player traveling especially if they are getting treatment sessions in leading to a match/date of return from injury.

If you read above they could very well choose on their own, many teams vary whether traveling is obligatory. Sheets are named bench is named and for most squads if you're not included you may not be required to travel. Could be he required a final bit of treatment on the bruising and did want him clogging up the limited bit of space/time getting treatment in the hotel. There are mountains of reasons.

I think SAF doesn't care about Europa, and only played Rooney:

1-To put a, "look we're trying really hard" face on it all.

2- To limit the ass-whoopin they were sure to get. Bilbao is Newcastle with Spanish swagger.

For anyone confused about reports of Rooney taking a knock – here’s the skinny: Midway through the second half of yesterday’s Bilbao match Rooney got slide tackled and was holding his ankle. He got back up after a delay, played on without obvious ill-effects, and scored. I think it’s fairly clear it’s an impact injury to the ankle and all it’s caused is a little soreness which won’t stop him playing against Wolves – as suggested by the United website not mentioning him as a doubt.

Just like the "RVP rested" rumours... I was taken in actually.

Alternatively he took a kick in an important game - but the adrenaline and importance of needing a win kept him playing. After coming off the soreness increased and Fergie has played down fears because - well it's Fergie. He'll make the choice before the Wolves game about whether to risk him or preserve him for the rest of the run in.

        All in the spin 😉

Haha, into the vacuum of uncertainty comes spin 😉

If it's sore, he's got 3 days to get it back down. I do find these things do tend to get a bit worse a day or so later... but might be okay in 3. Who knows.

I think Rooney will either start or not play - that might help.

          +1

I see no reason for Rooney not to play, United don’t play again after Wolves until the Monday night, that is plenty of rest. What possible reason is there for resting him? If he was doubtful Fergie would have said, he likes to keep us on our toes like that.

Yep Fergie is usually overly cautious about the fitness of his players. As evidenced by his bullsh*t "4 weeks out" estimates. Another example of "Fergie time" 😉

Hmmmmmm. Is it worth hanging onto Silva for another week till we get more of an idea of the man utd winger situation? I've been planning on getting young in all week, but the fact he played 90 mins yesterday worries me. Also, Man City will be more rested when they play chelsea at home. Silva should be nailed on for that.

I have 0.2m million to play with of my plan leading up to GW31

            Silva > Young
            Haangerland > Evans
            Dave > Adebayor

That will be down to 0.1m tomorrow with Young's rise, if I don't make the transfer this week. I presume that young's and evans' prices will rise steadily over the next few weeks. Will need to watch fiso

They will rise as long as they keep playing. Watch prices crumble if Young doesn't play.

I think it's pretty simple. Hold the Mun MF you have until we know. If you don't have one, wait or take pot luck.

Nani and Young sounds like an excellent idea. I've never liked the price to competition for goals differential of Rooney, and typically if a bonehead like Ward stays clear of drama Roooney won't see any Penalty spot success (which the Fat Frank and Rooney buzzards thrive off of).

            Mignolet (Schwarzer)
            Simpson Johnson Skrtel Evans
            Nani McClean Andrews
            Rooney (C) RVP (vc) Suarez

            Chamberlain Lescott Surman

Is my bench fine? and (c) ?

I know a lot of my players are 50-50 but given i don't have an option, is this fine?

Just done Silva > Young now the question is should I do Suarez > Rooney for a 4pt hit. The guy above me by 45pts in my ML doesnt have Rooney, so should I do it or not?

Hows it looking for this week?

            Krul
            Santon / Jevans / Skrtel
            Bale / Demps / McClean / Silva
            RVP (vc) / Rooney (C) / Ba

            Vorm / Siggy / Caulker / Kompany

1 FT and 1.4 in the bank. Think I'm going to do Silva -> Young

if you own Suarez you have to keep him for the next 2 IMO. After that get Ade or Drogba.

            Who to bring in

            Taiwo -> McAuley or Ridgewell
            Sinclair -> Morrison

The latter is a little more aggressive but the former does a slightly better job of tidying up team ahead of final WC

would rather Rooney plays but I do like the sound of that

BTW Daniel I did reply to your Siggy query. I had to go out.

If you think Fulham will keep a CS then no point playing Siggy. If you think Swans will score I'd play him over Senderos as chances are he will be involved.
