Earlier in the season Dimitar Berbatov almost prompted me into using my precious Wildcard. A sublime hat-trick at home to Liverpool sent the pulse racing and the urge to tinker seemed overwhelming. The Bulgarian looked irresistible and, having been handed a modest price tag in the Fantasy Premier League game, almost essential.

Thoughts gathered, I managed to keep the knee from jerking and my Wildcard remained intact. I spent the Gameweeks that followed thanking my lucky stars that I’d resisted as Berbatov, without the influence of Wayne Rooney alongside him, struggled to recall similar form. He proved to be anything but essential.

Today, the day I actually did throw my FPL Wildcard into the ring, the Berbatov bomb exploded once more. Five goals in a 7-1 mauling of Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford will grab the headlines on day when the Premier League went off the rails – 36 goals in total – not a clean sheet in sight. Madness…

Such insanity can be problematic for Fantasy Managers. The irony of such an avalanche of goals and such an individual performance on the day I play my Wildcard is not lost on me. In many ways I’m relieved; my tinkering itch has been well and truly scratched in the last 24 hours – the urge for more squad surgery is exhausted.

For others, probably thousands of others, Berbatov’s incredible performance and record FPL points haul will doubtless lead to one of the biggest bandwagons in memory. Tonight the scalpels will be out, hurried calculations will be made, points hits considered, more sleep lost. Berbatov has once again caused a big stir in our community. Not bad for a player who is often accused of failing to break sweat on the pitch.

And no, I didn’t sign Berbatov with my Wildcard but I’m happy enough regardless. My day and my Wildcard was anything but spectacular, but I’m content enough to opt out of the frenzy that Berbatov will cause and for that, I’m thankful.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In other news.. please god let the Newcastle game go ahead! If all the championship games are grand then surely this one is too.
Seriously need Bos, Ivan, Drog and Carrol to dig me out of a bad gw and VDV to play. If it's off i get 3 points in bench replacement bah.

Berbatov has stuck his big fat nose into my transfer plans. I think he'll do well with Rooney back in the team.

    How does this sound?

    Coleman > Kolarov
    Carroll > Berbatov

That would be my knee-jerk transfer if I were to make it.

I'm definitely taking a hit this week though. My team needs fixing.

I want Kolarov really badly, and my last striker spot is also up for grabs. Might even go for an 8 pointer if someone gets injured.

He's the best defender to get at the moment hands down.

            - He plays for ManCity who've kept 7 clean sheets already and play 2-3 defensive midfielders every game.

            - He's taking corners and setpieces.

            - He's generally very offensive, and nearly scored from open play last week against Fulham.

            - He has wonderful fixtures coming up.

            - He's a guaranteed starter.

It's a dream recipe, and for only 5.7, you can't get better value for money.

I could have got him 2 weeks ago, but held off because of back to back away fixtures. Now, he's got home advantage, and I'm going to get him this week for sure (unless he gets injured...)

he has got home advantage against in form(yes even after draw ag b'pool) bolton who have scored in almost every week after the opening day n they are usually better away from home specially elmander n they have their playmaker holden to comeback...

ManCity have kept 5 of their 7 clean sheets at home.

In any case though, they are the best team to back defensively in the league, and Kolarov has long lasting value.

Yeah was really annoying. Apparently boxing only got added to the line up late 🙁

Also it was stated that it would be on at 2am, which wouldn't have been so bad as that was lunch but it ended up not starting until more recently. I'm watching an Australian stream or something now, it's not sky sports at least.

Drop Bosi (Tough fixtures) for Kolarov , the other transfer is not necessary.
