Mac seeing as you recommend keeping Bale, would you say having VDV and Bale would be overkill keeping in mind Spurs form and fixtures? If so then which 1 out of the two, VDV or Bale?

I know you're not asking me, but if you want two attacking spurs players. Bale and Ade is the two to have IMO.
Also there are such other great options in midfield, Walcott,Dempsey,Valencia,Siggy, maybe even Sess..

Sess has awful fixtures, Dempsey fails away from home.
Plus next gameweek there will be 7 great striker options - as is always the way - and with only 1 slot for many people that becomes more important.

Thanks for your thoughts as always but I'm just not convinced by Ade at the moment, have a feeling VDV will outscore him and they are around the same price so.

I'd have one til 33 and then be happy with both.
Of the two I'd probably rather have Bale as he's more sturdy but it does depend on how much they cost you. If VdV is going to be pushed back up top then he's definitely worth a punt I think but not at the expense of Bale.

I would probably get VDV for Nani or Dempsey after NOR so that would be GW 32, any idea as to when Ade should be back? That's pretty essential when looking at VDV

    Worst substitution ever?

It's 0-0 in the last two minutes of the German Cup semi-final on Tuesday. Having played for penalties throughout extra time against champions Borussia Dortmund, second-division SpVgg Greuther Fürth decide to bring on their trump card in the 118th minute - reserve goalkeeper Jasmin FejziΔ‡, who is an expert both at saving and scoring penalty kicks.

But the penalty shootout would never take place. In the 120th minute, Dortmund's Δ°lkay Gündoğan takes a speculative shot from the edge of the penalty area which comes back off the post, bounces off FejziΔ‡'s back and trundles into the net (see video below).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL8SHMHY9p8

So Greuther Fürth go out due to an own-goal scored by the keeper that they'd subbed on two minutes earlier. Unluckier still was Max Grün, Fürth's first-choice keeper who went off for FejziΔ‡, as he went out of the Cup despite not having conceded a goal in the entire competition.

In the other semi-final last Bayern Munich beat Borussia Mönchengladbach, also on penalties. The only penalty miss was by Gladbach's defender Dante - who is currently in negotiations to join Bayern next season. Ouch.

After the own goal, Borussia Dortmund's Kevin Großkreutz started to mock Fürth's Gerald Asamoah, who used to play for Dortmund's local rivals Schalke 04. Racial abuse was allegedly also involved, which Großkreutz denied.

        http://www.goal.com/en-ie/news/3924/germany/2012/03/21/2982085/grosskreutz-denies-racism-claims

After the match, Fürth's general manager almost started a second fight by bursting into Dortmund's dressing room and telling them off for singing a mocking song about Fürth's goalkeeping substitution ("Torwartwechsel, hey, hey...").

Just had another look at Spurs' fixtures. GW31 they have Swans who are no longer pushovers away. Then they go to Sunderland who are good at home. Anyone else think GW33 is a better time to get Ade?

I could do Bale ➑ Theo this week (maybe with Young ➑ Valencia for -4)

I seriously would love to do a straight swap of Bale > VDV. I'm considering it in my WC, but ofcourse we need more clarity on VDV's role when Ade is fit. His set-pieces were pretty bad yesterday though.

I'm looking at selling Bale this week for Theo? Could also sell Clint for him, sell Young to Tony V (which I don't want to do just yet but can do) or save the transfer what do you think?

Young to Tony V would be my choice. Selling Dempsey with a fixture at home to Norwich next week does not seem like a great idea. And if you can afford to buy back bale, the first move looks pretty good too.

Save your transfer - is what I'd do.

Young could be explosive and should start with Nani still not training.

I don't think I have the balls to give Suarez the armband though he definitely has the best fixture. Aston Villa's tactics make me believe that the game against Arsenal is likely to be tight with a few goals in it. And United are really in form, so I believe even against an out-of-sorts Fulham, they could end up having a great day of which Rooney is a part.
So you see I am heavily confused. Let's see what the imminent future holds for me.

Suarez is an intriguing player to own, let alone captain....I'd steer clear. RVP or Rooney. Agree with you - tho I see 2 goals for a flowing Arsenal atleast - one customary goal a minimum for RVP. The last time he hasn't scored at home was in Dec. Also AVL are pretty weak at defending set-pieces.

Rooney - you never know when he will go up as a striker and when he'll play POO. But you know there will be goals at OT - only problem is there could be many outlets through which they flow.

That swings it to RVP for me.

    Greetings all.

VERY quiet day at work so some thoughts on the heated debate that is the third striker spot for the run in. Having been all set on getting Adebayor back in for gw31 and Spurs supposed upturn in fixtures I, like many here, am now having my doubts due to his niggling hamstring and Spurs poor form. After this week their next 3 are SWA, sun, NOR and suddenly this doesn’t look quite so appealing. Neither Swa or Nor are conceding many goals of late and Sun are still pretty solid at home. I might change my mind but for the time being I think Bale may be enough from the Spurs attack and wait and see on Adebayor.

As a side note to this, I can’t believe how many people I see considering selling Bale, he really is the most consistent option in the Spurs attack and although his points returns haven’t been massive lately, if you watch him play you know a big score is always a possibility. Last night was again an example of this, Spurs were pretty poor but he could have bagged 2 goals and at least another assist with a bit more luck.

Fixtures are also favourable for Liverpool and Chelsea to a certain extent but Suarez is all too often so unlucky/poor(?) in front of goal and Drogba/Torres are both high rotation risks and neither are particularly convincing options at their price.

The majority of us have already filled our 3 Man U spots by now (Rooney, Evans, midfielder) so a second Utd striker is an unlikely option and RVP is the only forward option for the Gunners.

There are obviously several cheaper options but for one reason or another not many really appeal at the moment. Holt, Odemwingie, P.Cisse: possible rotation risks, D.Cisse: horrible fixtures, Ba, Pog: question marks over form. Graham could be a good option (although not for me as I already have 3 Swans) or maybe the Yak but again fixtures aren’t great.

All of this brings me to the conclusion that a City striker could be the way to go for the time being and reassess in a couple of weeks . From gw 31 next 3 are SUN, ars, WBA, 2 favourable home fixtures and although City have been poor away I would almost expect an away match against one of the big boys to suit them better than playing away against one of the lesser lights.

Rotation is an issue with a max of probably 2 from 4 of Aguero, Balo, Dzeko and Tevez to start in any game but with the PL their only priority now, Mancini will surely look to pick his strongest line up. Dzeko is little more than a squad player of recent months and although the return of Tevez clouds the issue somewhat, he looks nowhere near fully match fit and nearly as fat as Benni ‘who ate all the pies’ McCarthy did playing for my hapless hammers last year! This surely will restrict him to a super sub role for the time being, leaving a choice between Kun and Balotelli (who is brilliant and/or a complete liability on any given day.)

So, Aguero back in for me next week then I think...... until of course somebody here, or this weekend’s matches make me change my mind again completely! What say you?

Yep, agree on Bale. We came in for some flack for leaving at the top of the Watchlist but he showed again last night - whilst Spurs were very ordinary, Bale certainly wasn't. Spurs will improve and Bale will have a few minor and major explosions to come.

I think not owning Bale will be worse than putting up with the odd 2 here and there. I just think Kun is too expensive. I think it might be Papiss or hold Ba. I think Theo and Ade/someone else will be better value than having Aguero

We just discussed the third striker options in podcast. It's strange, until this week I was personally set on Ade, Odem or Balotelli. In one week, that's gone out the window with knocks and form. Now it's up for grabs. We mentioned Papiss in the ScoutCast and, to be honest, he's not a bad option. Mulling all this over further.

I currently have Ba along with everybodies 2 must haves. He has been pretty unlucky since his return from the ACON, missed a pen, hit the woodwork a couple of times, forced a few good saves. Could have all been very different and I probably would not even be considering selling him right now if it had. It is certainly a tricky one, no real stand out option. I came to the conclusion of Aguero as a replacement but I have to admit I do have my doubts nonetheless. Much like Dempsey its the whole price tag considering the shocking away form that is the issue.

Exactly my thinking, got rid of Kun this week for Rooney. I'm missing him already. Just shifted Silva for Valencia, so this frees some funds to do Ba > Aguero next week.

I did Valencia in for Silva this week. My midfield is similar to yours and most:

        Valencia / Dempsey / Siggy / Bale / McClean

Benching Demps this week but keeping for (NOR) and prob (bol) looking to switch to Walcott most likely when fixtures suit both. Was also looking at Lamps as an option in a couple of weeks but not entirely convinced at his price. I'm not sold on Gerrard or Liverpool as an attacking force. Too hit and miss.

No prob, good luck with your decision. If I was in your position and with (AVL) (qpr) the next couple of weeks I'd prob go with Walcott. I felt I had to get Valencia this week, who you already have and I want to keep Dempsey for next week so thats the only thing stopping me from doing it myself.

Also owning Kun means I can't have Theo.

I am sorely tempted to keep Ba or get P. Cisse.

Plus as a United fan it would hurt way to much to own a City striker again.

I like the way you think though Aguero may well be out of my price range. Let's see. And on Tottenham, I believe even a 2-1 victory at Chelsea next week in which Adebayor ends up scoring a brace may change your thought's completely. But as of now I think you are heading in the right direction.

Welbeck and Hernandez can be dropped without a moment's notice. If you do have a budget of under 8 consider Odem, and P.Cisse.

It's definately Rooney, RVP and Aguero up top for me atm. I brought him back in after my one week punt on Suarez.

Still feeling quite good about it. This weekend is Stoke, and he terrorized them last time they met. Only worry is his form away, but this can always change!

Ok I have finally conceded defeat on the five at the back idea. It ended somewhere between a disaster and a hard luck story.
Defenders rarely get bonuses unless they score and/or keep a clean sheet in a low scoring game.Mid fielders are the way to go! Like Walcott who got 2 of a bonus.
I now find there are problems all over my team
1)Turner in a team that is not trying, nothing to play for.
2)Schwarzer lets in late late goals on a regular basis.
3)Sagna is not as good a pick as I thought he would be for his price.
4)Morrison the West Brom variety is likely to be rotated, according to Roy Hogson.
5)The Liverpool defence seem to be redefining "the liverpool way" and I have two of them!
    6) Oh and Pogrebnyak got no service in his last home game for Fulham!

I wish there was a third wildcard!

If I have no TOT cover and want to get one next week, who is the best option?

    A) VDV, seems it is back in the game
    B) Bale, pretty consistent
    C) Ade, closest to goal but unpredictable.

    Vote, now.

Bad argument. There are so few games left this season, and people are taking risks to get ahead.

I think VdV is one of those players who is capable of mammoth hauls, so I think he is a perfectly viable option.

            When fit, VdV>Ade!!

Since VDV joined PL last season he has gone on crazy scoring streaks or been injured. His hamstring has ALWAYS been a worry, but when on form, I think he is one of the most lethal midfielders out there.

Bale - Top scoring mid so far this season. Nuff said

VDV - Cheaper, could be a good differential.
