How in-form Diogo Jota compares with other Fantasy options

Diogo Jota‘s (£5.9m) hat-trick against Leicester City on Saturday has predictably led to a flurry of activity in Fantasy Premier League, with the “out of position” midfielder having been snapped up by over 60,000 managers at the time of writing.

Jota has five goals and two assists in his last five Premier League starts and with Wolverhampton Wanderers sitting top of our Season Ticker for the next six Gameweeks, there will be keen interest in the Portugal under-21 star going into their home match against West Ham United next Wednesday.

Jota’s upturn in form has coincided with a small tweak in Nuno Espirito Santo’s formation, with the 3-4-3 of Gameweeks 1-14 giving way to a 3-4-1-2 since then.

As a result, Jota is playing in a more central role alongside Raul Jimenez (£6.5m), rather than in the wide-left position he occupied in the first three months of the campaign.

We will, therefore, analyse Jota’s data from Gameweek 15 onwards, with that being the point the strike partnership with Jimenez was born.

It should be pointed out, of course, that we are dealing with a relatively small sample size after this point, given that Jota was injured from Gameweeks 18-21. Nevertheless, a cursory study of the two data sets seems appropriate given the demand he suddenly finds himself in among the Fantasy community.

As well as analysing any improvements in Jota’s game, we will look at how he compares with Jimenez as a Fantasy asset and if his appeal is favourable to other mid-price FPL midfielders.

D looks like a move that you could then stick with for the rest of the season, so I'd do that. Richarlison to Jota could easily look silly in a few weeks and necessitate a similar sideways move.

So Higuain is now a Chelsea player, having signed on loan with an option to buy in the summer, and is confirmed at 9.5m in FPL.

Many are questioning the deal and the persistence from Sarri in signing a 31 year old considered past his peak, but I've gotta admit, I'm quite excited by it. In a season with limited forward options, he has the ability to shake things up and be a key differential over the forthcoming weeks.

His record speaks for itself... over 100 league goals for Real Madrid, 71 league goals for Napoli over 3 seasons - which importantly included 36 in his single campaign under the management of Maurizio Sarri, and 40 league goals for Juventus. His most recent spell with Milan started well, he scored 6 goals in 7 games, before his form tailed off, partly down to Milan's injury crisis.

I guess the best way to describe him is a classic, aggressive, goalscoring number 9. He will lead the line for Chelsea, meaning Hazard can move over to his preferred role on the left side of the attack, and this combination could be key to Chelsea's chances this season.

With the father-son relationship between him and Sarri and the fact he is already a proven goalscorer in his 4-3-3 system, I think he'll hit the ground running.

Anyone tempted to get on board early?

This is so TL:DR for this format. His goals per minutes last season and a half are bang average

TL:DR? It's a few paragraphs but fair enough.

Re his goal per minutes, all I'd say is look at Rashford under Mourinho, and now under Solskjær? Confidence and playing under a manager who believes in him can make a huge difference.

I have 9.9 to spend on a Vardy replacement. I'm well aware Higuain may take time to adjust to the prem and wouldn't normally get in a player in so soon but it's very tempting. He can always turn into Auba for GW27 if necessary. Other options for me are Laca (Ltd mins), Zaha (not scored for some time) and Ings (injury prone). Already own Jim & Rash.

As a Juventino I've seen every match he's ever played in Bianconero, not to mention most of his matches with Napoli so can attest to his quality. Terrific overall team player, works very hard off the ball and one of the best in the game in terms of hold up play.

He's already admitted Sarri knows how to get the best out of him, so the confidence boost alone should factor into his ability to contribute straight away.

9.5 is what I was hoping for, I think he can realistically bang in anywhere from 8-10 goals the remainder of the campaign but he's a workhorse so will be nailed from the outset.

Could see him open his account vs Bournemouth and I will bring him in home vs HUD.

He is a perfect punt for next 2 (bou, HUD and maybe BHA in a DGW) and may turn into a great differential. If he can not make the impact in those games, easy switch to Auba @ GW26.

Just a word of advice to anyone thinking of doing transfers:

Other than the usual advice to wait as closest to the deadline as possible because of potential injuries in the FA cup games, there could be a possibility of a DGW announced before the deadline. So until we hear anything, DO NOT make any transfers! The DGW will most certainly take precedence in terms of transfers.

....And if Sarri can get Higuaín fit and up and running there is no doubt in the Italian’s mind that he has a world-beater in his squad. “Higuaín will score goals for as long as he is alive,” Sarri told Corriere dello Sport in September 2018. “He is goals. Apologies as mildly off topic fantasy wise, but does anyone know if Higuain will play tonight in the EFL? Frustrated Spurs fan - we lose 3 out of our 4 best players in the last couple of weeks and Chelsea sign a world class forward that will probably make Hazard much better. Still remember his two goals against us in the champions league last year - I know one was a penalty but the other was incredible. Worried...

Do you think the DGWs may come before the blanks? Don’t know if I should get in City players now or wait after their blanks

nothing sure yet but there is lil bit chance of DGW in 25

GW32 and GW35 are expected to be doubles

If your bench is good enough to survive one GW, then getting CIty players shouldnt be an issue. Plus you can always use transfers to take them out.

That's my thoughts 🙂 if higuian starts well then all good, Jimenez not exactly getting double digits every week, differential to go forward

Who is falling that it’s this urgent?

Guess casuals don’t know about the 7 day price cap.

Have you ever tried to explain it to one?

Similar to people who don't understand how carry overs in 10 pin bowling work, for strikes, and half strikes.
