Forging close friendships with other Fantasy managers has been instrumental in Sean Tobin’s success and enjoyment of both Fantasy Premier League and Sky Fantasy Football over the years.

In our latest Meet the Manager interview we catch up with Sean at a crucial time in his Fantasy career, after reaching the summit of our Hall of Fame and currently in a career-high 18thspot in FPL and 14thin Sky.

With five top 5,000 finishes in FPL and reaching the top 50 in Sky in 2017/18, this season is no mere fluke.

However, modest Sean is still convinced he’s simply got lucky over the years.

During our 30-minute chat, Sean reveals how the counsel of fellow Fantasy managers that he has known for years has been pivotal to his strong finishes each year.

He also explains how his faith in a 3-4-3 formation and reticence to back a five-man midfield has helped drive this success.

Correcting mistakes swiftly has also been a strong ethos to his Fantasy management and it is no coincidence that his only poor FPL campaign was due to being too slow to react to emerging player trends.

The chat with Sean is available to view on Youtube here and in the embedded video below.

It's just the fixtures are so good feels like the wrong time to ditch. A few weeks ago when Wolves had Spurs, City and Liverpool in the space of 6 GWs would have been the time to sell. Now I think we hold.

Save FT this week or any obvious moves I should make? Looking at Richarlison out but will give him Huddersfield, especially with Son not being certain to play this week.

    Fab
    Shaw - Doherty - Digne
    Salah (c) - Sterling - Pogba - Richarlison
    Auba - Rashford - Jiminez

    Hamer - AWB - Kiko - Gunarsson

*Like Joe did, I also found it refreshing how he credited some of his achievements to having friends who's also good players. Can't remember any others on the series mentioning this.

    - Anybody else think this is helping them achieve good ranks? I know i do. Being a norwegian in my twenties, basically all my friends play FPL, and my best friends are addicts like me. Some of them have really good trackrecords aswell. I love to Get engaged on FFS, but at times you wont Get any nibbles when you wanna discuss something, and other times an HT wit great discussions have gone cold before youre able to join the party. My friends allways engage whenever I wanna discuss football and FPL.

*Another thing he mentioned was the algorithm he was paying for.

    - After years of FFS being the holy grail for content, seems like theres now loads of content being hidden behind paywalls. Anybody have experience (good/bad) with any of these?

The information flow and thoughts shared definately gets more scarce towards the end of the season amongst me and my friends, but otherwise we dont mind sharing. We actually seldom 100% agree about things, but it's probably in those cases we learn the most. Remember having skypesession with my friends last year talking about the best way to attack the blanks and doubles. We ended up doing it in very different ways, but it definately challenged my thinking and prob helped me make some better choices.

Spent all week trying to decide on a Guaita replacement but can't make my mind up. Is Ederson worth the money or would Fab or Etheridge be better?

    1. Meinhoff

Considering their fixtures, I would say he's worth the money only if City have DGW25 and you still have your WC to get that money out later

      1. Marvin.
        • 9 Years

I still have it. Also I sold Fab for Guaita so bringing him back would cost me value and feel like a defeat.

City are on a run or clean sheets, I'd imagine alot of people are thinking of bringing in Ederson, a good move if you don't need to change other positions.

I’ve seen no real news on Guaita, but am holding and hoping he’s back by gw 27. Could get Ryan or McCarthy (both 3 good fixtures and 4.4) for Button. If Guaita back gw 27, play him then. If not, you might have an issue that gw with Ryan (blank) or McCarthy (ars).

Cue people doing -4s to do Hazard to Sterling
Sterling gets benched for one of the two games while Hazard scores 20 points vs Huddersfield

Have 2FTs, weary of no city players after there last couple of games. Thinking on bringing in Sane, or Son depending on Pochs team news. Any advice lads thanks

      Fab
      Shaw - Robbo - Kolasinac - AWB
      Salah (c) - Haz - Pogba - Anderson
      Auba - Jiminez

      Hamer - Ings - Camarasa

Fair comment. Ederson for sure. Other than that don't know. But I'd take 120 minutes from sterling/sane
