Definitely wait until monday and the games have been confirmed. I currently only have 4 players guaranteed a game in 31 but then 8-10 possibly with 2 games in gw32 so looking at fh31. However if cup results go my way i could end up with 10 players for gw31 so would probably hold then fh32 to get a full 11 likely to play twice. After that general opinion seems to be bb and tc in 35/37 depending on your own preference

Theres a fantastic document by ben crelling about them all somewhere. Currently either man city v man u or chelsea v everton is guaranteed to be off i think. Then you would expect palace to beat doncaster so their game against Tottenham would be off.
After that it depends on wolves v bristol city, brighton v derby and watford v qpr which could all go either way imo depending on wat strength teams they play

I dont think you can make any decisions yet. Wait and see how the FA cup plays out but more importantly, watch Auba in second leg against BATE, monitor his performance/minutes and Arsenal in general to help inform your decision. If you conclude there is an equally decent captain pick elsewhere in your team, you may be able to side step Auba and spend transfer elsewhere.

This - it’s way too early to be making transfers

Several very important matches in the next week, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, and the League Cup Final post deadline

All will have potentially significant fantasy impacts

Fully agree with points made on timing (i.e. wait until more info are available before acting).
Regarding the moves (and currently not owning neither Auba nor Aguero), would prefer to have Aguero after GW27... so my suggestion would be 'option A'. Will look to get 1-2 Leicester players myself for the upcoming run they have!

I have a team I’m happy with, but it’s taken 61 transfers (yikes!) and an OR of over 700k (oh dear). The thing is I really enjoy making transfers: differentials and the odd band wagon punt, but it clearly hasn’t worked too well.

At this stage of the season, has anybody made a a similar number of transfers and done well. Think I just want to know that it’s possible! Thanks.

True. I’ve definitely played the game differently and had good/bad seasons. Think my captaincy will be on Auba, but hoping Jota will be enough of a differential to help my rank...

43 transfers here and sitting at 415k

At the start of the season, hits were working well and reached 35k after GW7 and consolidated to 90k after GW12, but since then it's gone pear shaped and everything I try doesn't seem to work.

I still believe that Son around Christmas and Aguero recently has hit my rank big time and would probably have a respectable rank if I had those two.

Honestly, the easiest way to do really well is just to be sensible and dullard every week, perhaps with the odd hit.

But that's not the fun way! And it's still possible to smash it with an aggressive style of play, so why not!?

Games are played for fun right?

      50 for 280k

I made a major bish early season with an accidental -16 when I was playing with my side to see how I might get KdB in. Oh dear. I’ve been playing catch up ever since.

But I’ve taken a -8 5 times and in each case ended up in the top 300k (and mostly top 100k) for GW rank.

The only hits I really regret have been dipping in and out of players for a one week punt. They haven’t paid at all.

I'm at 22k with taking a hit yet, 23 transfers in total. Following last season finishing 25k without a single hit! Tempted this week though...

Some of the moves I see on here beggar belief. Such as taking Hazard out for a hit pre-Huddersfield. And I can't for the life of me understand how so many didn't take an educated punt on Aguero for the DGW, especially with the Kane injury freeing up funds and a spot a few weeks previous. Shocking that no Scouts recommended him either. Worked out nicely!

third season playing, getting some 50-50 calls more correct than wrong, perhaps a tad lucky

taken 10 hits for 40 points cost but generally have paid off either in same Game week or over 3-4 Game weeks

There is no set way of playing, I have seen people who make many transfers and do well. It depends on the transfers

Many people will think this is a bad way of playing but if you are having fun then that's what counts

I'd rather play a game having fun than being miserable/angry/frustrated by playing safe

Yeah i enjoy making transfers, sometimes it works and others not so much. Would have been higher this season had i not taken Salah out just before his hatty and a nightmare last couple of rounds with Aguero.

Good to see different tactics working well for people and I agree that if the way you play leads you to have fun with the game then that’s what is important. Good to know people have had success having taken a big number of hits though as there’s hope for me yet. Just have to be a bit more savvy with the moves I make!

I just had a look at the top 10 managers currently - all have less than 30 transfers, most have taken 2 or 3 hits the entire season! As a general trend OR probably correlates inversely with number of hits.

I think it was Jonny that made the point that when you make a transfer, particularly the case with a hit, it’s not just the player you bring in that has to do well, but it’s the player you take out that might hurt you. I guess the odds are stacked against you if you play aggressively - lots of factors have to pay off - but the reward is sweet if it works out. Good luck everybody - whatever your approach!

Is this Laca red a good thing or a bad thing for his chances of him starting vs Southampton? Was a bit worried before the red as he had a very average game and Emery isn’t afraid to drop him, but not he is suspended surely he is more fresh and therefore should start?

Neither. Not doing Aguero>Auba because Arsenal are trash. Have big 4 mid so no room for Anderson and he's only hit the target 1 time last 6 games but could do ok I guess

Arsenal are the top scoring attack in the league (after city/pool/spurs) and really need Auba for their cutting edge - without him starting they couldn’t even score against that rabble last night

He has the captaincy fixture in GW27 (only Cardiff, Huddersfield, Burnley, Fulham have conceded more away than Southampton) and a statistically fantastic fixture in GW28 (Bourenmouth have the worst away defence in the league bar Fulham and have conceded more goals away from home than even Huddersfield)

We need to see Man City’s lineups (and performances) vs Schalke & Chelsea before jumping to conclusions on the West Ham game. 3 days after a cup final/champions league double header is not nice timing at all, but whoever is rested for LC Final should stand a better chance of starting v West Ham 3 days later

This will be their fifth away game, failing to keep clean sheets away to Huddersfield, Burnley, Leicester under Ralph.

They also conceded 2 goals at home to arsenal in his first game

Auba’s next 2 games involve a statistically excellent attack against statistically poor defences, so statistically should be profitable - but no guarantees of course

If you own Auba, I do think he's a good shout for the captaincy this week, but re Saints, I've watched a fair bit of them since Hasenhüttl was appointed and they've tightened up, only conceded 6 in 6, which is a massive improvement on the shambles of a team put together by Mark Hughes. Small sample size I know, but their non penalty xG conceded since the turn of the year is also good - 7th best in the league behind City, Liverpool, Spurs, Leicester, Everton and Wolves.

Southampton are definitely better under new mgmt vs old, but Arsenal have a suprisingly proficient home attack - only city & Liverpool have scored more home goals and with Mo away to Utd I think Auba shades the GW27 captaincy & conceding 2 away to Cardiff last time out was a hammer blow to them

Laca’s sending off may yet impact things though if Auba gets 90 in the league cup, so need to monitor that also

Yep, if I owned Auba, he'd probably get the captaincy, just wanted to flag up that Hasenhüttl's Saints are a different proposition to Hughes version.

      So tough.
It depends what you're doing with your team as a result.
Aguero to Auba is a straight swap, and looks good for the next few fixtures.
Sterling has no obvious swap in his price...maybe Mane? So without knowing that it's hard to judge.

      1. Emiliano Sala
        • 7 Years

I have 3 city assets. And as they have two bgw 27 and 31 now I see it's better to sell at least 2 because of rotations and CL and LC games. One is kdb. If I sell kun I will get auba and if I sell sterling I will upgrade Niasse to auba!

        Which ends to:
        A) Sterling + Arnie
        B) Kun + Maddison

        1. HamezMace
          • 9 Years

So Sterling, Arnie and Auba would be the players you'd have? Given West Ham fixtures, I'd do that.

            Sterling Son KDB pogba lamela

Need to do one of these to get XI out this week, or do b&c for -4 which would mean not having to play Bennett.. Got this feeling though Hazard could bite me vs Spurs? Not sure on completing the hokey cokey either, now have 0.2m tied up in Aguero and don't particularly need Auba as a captain GW28 as Salah is at home...

So Hazard>Son(c) makes sense, and maybe FAnderson in for -4 instead of Bennett?

    a Aguero>Auba
    b Richarlison>FAnderson
    c Hazard>Son

    Boruc
    Robbo Doherty WB BENNETT
    Salah Pogba Puncheon
    Jimenez Rashford

    Ryan HAZARD RICH DIGNE AGUERO

    1. pingissimus
      • 5 Years
      5 years, 1 month ago

Interested that losing Bennet is a higher priority than Digne. Double Wolves defence was always a punt given how leaky they are but it's most certainly playable in 28 against Huddersfield - Bennet would make a useful first sub in any event.

      1. pingissimus
        • 5 Years
        5 years, 1 month ago

        Sorry misunderstood.

But I wouldn't really want double Wolves defence against Bournemouth as that has goals written all over it and a potential 0 and the Fanderson move is a decent bet given how terrible Fulham are down their right.

Yes my thinking too. Bennett and WB have been my season-long 4.0m defenders. Doherty turned up when Mendy got injured first time around!

I can see plenty profit in Fanderson coming in, and I get Rich out for money back too. I think Haz could bite me vs Spurs, its typical of him, so it's whether Aguero>Auba(c) is worth a -4 on top I guess...

    GW27 Planning

    1. Are you planning to field a full 11 for GW27?
    2. Are you planning on taking any hits?
    3. Have you already made your transfers?

What are your thoughts about the reduced GW27 fixtures? Do you think fielding 11 is necessary? The captaincy options are less strong than in other weeks - are you considering a punt for your captaincy?

Auba(c) Son(v) at the moment.. I've held Auba all this time for this moment so gotta commit to the plan after the Kuntastrophe - just our luck if he ends up benched following the Lacared...feels like the story is writing itself at this point 😆

As posted above have 10 starters and one FT. So it's either Aguero, Hazard, Richarlison, or Digne out or maybe two for a hit. Might just stick with the Aguero>Auba(c) plan, but that means I have a tricky call to make GW28 and would need to buy back 0.1m dearer. Or Haz>Son(c) and bank the cash.

      2. No hits unless I want Aguero to Auba too.
      3. Yes
      4. i) Almost all premium options either a) play a hard team, b) don’t play at all, c) are injured. Auba an exception.
ii) Yes if not too many hrs required. Bad planning if you can’t field XI.
iii) Far less strong. Not many stand out. Will be the lowest priced captain option I have chosen all season.
iv) Son (c) would be punty any other week, although due to lack of better options (and of course his form) he is going to be very popular.

Easy wait for the transfers for me too. I think a left field pick could easily do as well as the main picks.

Are you worried about having 10 or does it make sense for your team? A hit now to get out 11 and help prepare for GW31 might make sense in the end

Yeah that has crossed my mind, I think once the blanks are confirmed the route I take will become clearer, at least I hope it will! I think the captaincy is key this week, get that right and going with 10 shouldn't be a problem.

I have already made my transfer, Richarlison to Anderson, prices were only going one way with those two, and I have such poor TV I didn't want to lose another 0.2/0.3m on them.

I have 11, and hopefully Wilson will be back to make 12, and I won't have to play Schindler!

Torn between Jimenez, and Son for the armband though.

I have 2FTs in the bank but can put an XI out now thankfully (albeit likely low scoring). Sterling and Aguero to the bench and just try and ride the GW out - bigger GWs to come in my opinion.

Have a few transfer thoughts (nothing overly original), but with more news after this weekend, will wait a few days before starting the GW31 prep.

Captaincy for me will be between Pogba and Salah - likely Pogba at the moment.

I've liked the look of him to, very direct, gets into good positions, and a little selfish too, which is good for fpl, if not real life.
I'm just trying to decide if he's been unlucky, or just not quite got the quality to be finishing these chances in the PL.
Awkward price point at 5.5m too.

                Interesting.
I've never been able to justify 3-5-2. I just can't bring myself to spend 5.5m on a terrible, rarely playing striker, such as Success, Kamara, or Locaida.
Especially when Rashford, Arnie, Jimenez, and Wilson have provided such good value so far this season.
I'll be going with two of those options + Kane or Aguero for the run in (WC team - around GW32 or so)

Jimenez + Rashford + premium allows for 3-5-2 by benching Jimenez.

I wouldn't get Jimenez if I was expecting to regularly bench him.
Strong front 8's are what fpl frustrations are made of.

It all changes when the BGW and DGWs start coming in.

For me, I'm looking at FH32 and WC 34. So I can go a bit rogue and just do the moves that look the best for the next few GWs, without thinking too much about structure. I might even go with a strong front 8

I'm still undecided on chip strategy, and not sure the FA cup results are even going to help.
My thinking is that if we only have 4 fixtures in GW31, FH would be best used then, as the teams are generally more unpopular - for fpl players I mean, so if people not FH'ing that week want to get 11 players out, they'll have to take more hits, or weaken their teams in the lead up to 31.
That said, the player pool to choose from in 31 will be pretty weak also, with no big hitters involved, except for the obvious Liverpool players, who everyone will already have.

I guess the merit of a strong front 8 in the latter stages of the season, and rotation with CL games is more likely, is there, especially if you've built up good TV, but I just see some posts on here asking who to bench, and it's between A. Jimenez, or B. Anderson, and I think, how have you got into that position?

I was at 107.5 but then sold Pogba and lost a bunch of that.

For me FH31 just is the easiest, with the least thinking and the lowest chance to really mess it up. I think without Pogba it makes it slightly easier as well - I can go for players who play in both 31 and 33, not worry about missing any of the really big players for 32.

One of the things I worry about on a FH31 is that I'll be missing those players I really want in 32, and then also what the state of my team would be for GW33

If I FH31, I'd WC32, I assume we'll have all the information regarding the remaining fixtures by then anyway?

You've also raised the other point I forgot the mention, I've seen lots of people say they would take hits to transfer in a few players with a GW31 fixture, and then get them back on a WC later, I think some are not realising the amount of value players such as Pogba, Rashford, Doherty etc, etc, have tied up in them, you could be losing 0.5m per player on some of them.

I'm still undecided, but I think if Everton v Chelsea goes ahead in GW31, with the other 4 fixtures we'd get if all the other PL teams go through, then I'll FH31, Hazard, Alonso, and Higuain could be good differentials, as I doubt many people still own them now with the 27 blank, and recent form.

      A. Yes. I have 11 playing + kiko & awb on the bench.
      B. No hits needed this gw.
      C. Done Digne to Pereira as it was always the transfer i was going to do this gw. Long term transfer so did early.

Regarding gw27 it's going to be low scoring gw imo & © choice will be very important.
      I'm going with Auba ©

Auba and Pereira in for Ings and Digne for a hit? Can field a full 11 with 2 players on the bench providing extra options. Will wait close to deadline to make transfers as I'm in no danger of being priced out.

Fielding 10 players for me is good enough. You don't need to get 11. No need for the free hit chip this week imo. Auba looks like the best cap option for now but i think Son could be a decent punt given his form although Burnley have been resilient of late

Thinking about a luxury transfer of VVD to Robbo. I'm fed up with losing those baps.

I'm very tempted to do the differential captain of Arnie but that would come at a -4.

      Got 11.
Going to do nothing until all cup & European football done.
The big one week hokey cokeys haven't paid off so far this season Kane Cardiff, Auba Huddersfield to name a couple.
With so many having 5 or 6 Liverpool & man utd could be an average scoring GW anyway.
Any transfers would be shifting Everton players but they could come back strong from their 2 week break.

Bringing Dubravka and Arnie in and should have 12 starters.
Also the plan is to captain Arnie ahead of Salah, Son, etc. My mind was actually made up on this after watching the United Fulham game.

I certainly don't think it's essential to field 11. Not may are expecting big things to happen this week but as always, there will be a few surprises. Those taking a gamble on West Ham or Newcastle could reap the rewards this week.

      (1) Yes
      (2) Maybe. I want to replace Digne with Yedlin/Lascelles. I also might sell Rashford to get Arnie (but that depends on injury news/press conferences)
      (3) Not yet

I don't think you need a full compliment of defenders this week (Newcastle and maybe Spurs aside, it 'feels' like clean sheets might be hard to come by), but you'd want a full set of midfielders and forwards.

If I get Arnie, I'll go with him. If not, I'll stick it on Aubameyang and his magical goal boomerang.

      2. No hit necessary (with current info & before cup games, etc.)
      3. No transfer made yet

My only 'worry' about GW27 is neither number of fixtures not number of players to field, but rather the fact that I own 5 MUN/LIV players... Really unsure about how this will play out.
About (C), currently armband is on Son with Pogba (VC) - so not really gambling... 😉

Yes, fielding 11. Looking to make on or two transfers -4 if I go with two. Leaving transfers as late as possible. Considering Luiz > Duffy depending on Brighton FA cup game and Long > Rondon or Barnes. Have Aubameyang but not convinced re captaincy. Might go with Son on that one.

Putting the armband on Auba, like most people who have him. ManU vs Liverpool is obviously a concern, thinking about either selling Rashford (concerned about his time on the pitch for the "easy" PL-Games anyway) or/and benching Van Dijk instead of Gunnarsson. However, Van Dijk is probably as likely to score/assist as Gunnarsson, so I don't think I'll pick that option.

Have to say... The moment I seen Lacazette throw that Elbow > Red Card....

He got transferred straight into my team.

Should be nice and fresh for the Southampton Game...!!! :):)

Laca getting bulk minutes central striker lately the difference. Just observation. Have neither. People pinning their 27 hopes on an overrated fixture
