FFS Cup

Second FFScout Cup – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce the dates of our second public Fantasy Premier League Cup competition for the 2018/19 campaign.

We are launching another open-to-all tournament with £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up for the open tournament can be found here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi, TH14, 2EyedTurk and our reigning champion Man-Chest-Heir F.C.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How does the Cup work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 28, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 29.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 18:45 GMT on Tuesday February 26, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter the open-to-all FFS Cup via the entry form here.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team ID at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

Your entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team ID as part of the process.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The open-to-all FFS Cup list is here.

How do I find my FPL team ID?

Your FPL ID is your unique ID for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right-hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX here: https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history)

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL ID field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after February 26 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

Both these cup competitions will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule, though this could be subject to change.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 28

Round 1 – Gameweek 29
Round 2 – Gameweek 30
Round 3 – Gameweek 31
Round 4 – Gameweek 32
Round 5 – Gameweek 33
Round 6 – Gameweek 34
Quarter-Final – Gameweek 35
Semi-Finals – Gameweek 36
Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 37

When are the fixtures released?

Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

The first round draw for the open-to-all cup will be made and published shortly after February 27.

Prizes

Overall Prizes
The prizes for the FFS Cup are as follows:

1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m a previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a Fantasy Football Scout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

Hi if I could just ask a quick question, I currently have Hazard and Aguero who do not feature this weekend but I plan to wildcard after this game week anyway...Could anyone recommend the most sensible swap for this game week please?
    Current team:
    Fabianski(boruc)
Doherty Wan Bissaka Robertson Shaw (Kelly)
    Hazard Salah Mane Jota (billing)
    Aguero Rashford(Kamara)

    Gw27: siggy + ings + ederson > anderson + arnie + boruc (-8)

GW27 DS stats, fixtures and clean sheet odds

GW26 saw only a couple of fixtures of note with Liverpool (568DS) beating Bournemouth 3-0 and Manchester City (383DS) spanked Chelsea 6-0 at The Ethiad. One that was just under the radar was Manchester United (329DS) who beat Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage with a Paul Pogba brace helping the cause.

Another week where only a couple of fixtures stand out this time with Arsenal (481DS) hosting Southampton and Spurs (4254DS) travelling to Burnley. One of interest to note is West Ham (269DS) who host Fulham a team who currently head the xGC table over the last 6 GWs but doesn't have a DS of over 350.

Leicester CS stats inflated. Completely ignores recent history vs Palace and Palace recent run of scoring

recent history vs palace is trivia not useful data

bookies take into account more factors concerning palace recent form than you can imagine

Palace scoring last 6 games and last 3 away relevant? Leicester conceding last 5 at home?

Definately relevant, and the bookies have used this information along with other information to set the odds. If you believe its wrong you should put some money on it.

Can someone try to explain to me what methods are used by the price prediction sites such as FPL Stats to predict market changes in FPL?

    1. Mysterion
      • 6 Years
      5 years, 1 month ago

There's a link that explains everything but that link is on the FPL stats site, which is down at the moment...

But in short, he's developed (and is constantly developing) machine learning algorithms which use data from the FPL site to make predictions e.g. transfers in (round), transfers out (round) for sure but other stats as well too I think

        Thanks Mysterion

I just watched a quick video explanation on machine learning algorithms on youtube and it looks like complicated stuff and well beyond my field of expertise.

Same here Ogie don't have a clue... but the info on FPL stats is relatively easier to understand, I'll copy the link here when the site's back up

I don't know at all but would assume transfers in/out relative to ownership, not sure what other factors they could include other than maybe an error term for the amount of wildcards in play since they don't contribute to price rises/falls
