G-Whizz’s RMFHT

Let me start off by saying this is a first draft; obviously decisions on who makes the final cut will be made nearer the deadline and of course IB injuries permitting..

Kepa (Stekelenburg)

Luiz, Laporte, Schlupp and AWB

Hazard, Sterling(C), Pogba

Rashford, Kane, Aguero (VC)

Bench: Stephens, Romeu and Simpson

The Remainers:
Only Luiz, Laporte, Pogba, and Aguero make it into the first draft and will more than likely make the final cut too.

The Exiteers:
Fabianski, Steele, van Dijk, Robertson, Evans, Mané, Maddison, Fraser, Anderson, King, Vardy and Success.

By Position

Goalkeepers
Kepa makes the comes in as I go for a Chelsea defensive double up. Stekelenburg was brought in for Steele who looks as if he could drop in price so why take the risk? Never know when you might need that £0.1m on a Free Hit…

Defenders
AWB and Schlupp come in to double up the Crystal Palace defence, chance Schlupp could deliver attacking returns too.

Luiz completes the Chelsea defensive double up. I’m not entirely convinced with Chelsea’s current form but Cardiff and Brighton is too hard to refuse. Decent chance of at least one clean sheet there imo.

Laporte completes the four man back line as the first part of a Manchester City triple up.

Midfielders
Can’t see my FH team going without either Sterling (possible Captain) or Hazard, surely everyone and their dog will have those two. Pogba (another Remainer) makes up my trio in midfield.

Forwards
Aguero is another holding strong claims for the armband. Kane is Kane, could do anything, score a brace against Liverpool and blank against Crystal Palace! Who knows with Spurs at the moment, I think some will have to choose between him and other big hitters but for now, he can stay. Rashford slots in nicely and could be nice value…

Original team value: £107.1m
Free Hit team value: £105.7m (ITB: £0.2m)

Obviously some things will change (news on rotation, injuries etc.) and new ideas will no doubt come to the fore, but as a first draft it’ll do for now. Will still be tinkering right through the International Break and see where and what we end up with 🙂

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right?

What do you suggest I change? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

  10. FH Twisted Thoughts...
    Twisted Saltergater
    • 14 Years
    5 years, 1 month ago

My thoughts for those putting a FH team together. Saves me replying to every post.

Brighton - SOT, che, mci (FAC)
Brighton only really appeal to me defensively. Ryan is quality, and Dunk and Duffy offer goal threat at a bargain price. However, the FA Cup semi-final must surely mean rotation in the Chelsea away match and that leaves my hopes pinned on the Southampton game. Southampton only have this one fixture in the GW so I'm not feeling it.

    Cardiff - CHE, mci, blank
Just no. Cue a Patterson hat-trick...

    Chelsea - car, BHA, WHU
The West Ham derby fixture in GW33 means Sarri may rotate against Cardiff or Brighton. Typically Hazard is most nailed with Willian and Pedro rotating, but Hudson-Odoi could easily be thrown in for one. Hazard will definitely play vs West Ham so we may get a nasty surprise.
Sarri-ball appears to me to be who can keep the ball the longest and I'm reluctant to go near the Chelsea attack. Christiansen likely to get a start or two rotating with Rudiger and Luiz (this pairing preferred for West Ham).
I'm looking to squeeze in Azpilicueta over Luiz, and if funds allow, Kepa in goal.

    Palace - HUD, tot, new
Tricky to read this set of fixtures. I like Schlupp, AWB and Tomkins. Can Milivojevic get ANOTHER penalty? Good value in Zaha, Batshuayi and Townsend too. Take your pick. Might be best to avoid Guaita with Hennessey hovering.

Man City - ful, CAR, BHA (FAC)
Aguero, Sterling + A N Other seems a no brainer. Thing is, we know with a fit Jesus now available, Aguero is back at risk of rotation. If you can second guess Pep's line-up for the FA Cup semi-final then you're halfway there.
Laporte being the only left footed CB Man City have *should* mean that he plays both, but who knows.
Do we really want Ederson in two games that are likely to be goal-fests?Zinchenko may play both but isn't listed as a defender in FPL, unfortunately.

Man Utd - WAT, wol, blank
While the fixtures are meh, it's the fact that Watford and Wolves are still in the FA Cup that is crucial here. That and the rest in GW33 means that Man Utd could be up against second string 11's.
1 x def, 1 x mid, 1 x str seems sensible. Smalling would be my pick at the back but he's pricey at 5.6m. Watch out for news on Lindelof's wife giving birth btw. Then it's Pogba and one of Lukaku/Rashford, depending on who can shake off their international injury the quickest...

    Spurs - liv, CPL, blank
Kane, no-one else really. Maximum respect if you sneak an Alli or Vertonghen into your FH team, though.

Watford - mun, FUL, WOL (FAC)
FA Cup semi scream rotation and I suspect it'll come in the Man Utd away game, which means your Deeney's, Deulofeu's and Holebas' should start the Fulham home game. And that could be a cricket score.
Foster has a penalty save in him, btw.

Wolves - bur, MUN, wat (FAC)
After Cardiff, perhaps the worst fixtures of the DGW? Wolves love a counter attack and you can't counter attack a Burnley outfit. That leaves a re-match with Man Utd at Old Trafford days before an FA Cup semi-final. I'd probably leave well alone, or at a push Coady or Boly, given both wingbacks could and have been rotated in the past.

I'm aware I dodged the 3rd Man City quandary. 🙂

David Silva, if you think Pep won't need his services in the FA Cup. He'll be coming off a rest during the international break, and should be fine for 2 x 80 mins in the DGW, if he gets to put his feet up for Brighton. More central than his namesake Bernardo, but hasn't been his scintillating best of late.

Bernardo Silva, away with the Portugal squad so keep an eye on the minutes he plays. Not sure he plays both games in the DGW, but no doubt he's been instrumental all season in making City tick. Pep often prefers him in the tougher games rather than the double up of Sterling and Sané, due to his tireless work rate. Not sure if he's capable of hauling and 7.5m is an awkward price.

Leroy Sané / Riyad Mahrez. There's a train of thought that Pep hasn't been able to rely on some of his fringe players. Given City are still in 3 competitions, he's not going to be able to play Sterling, both Silva's, etc. in the CL and again at the weekend in the PL, something has to give. Mahrez and Sané are likely to be required and fixtures like ful, CAR are as low risk as it gets.

Gundogan. I was going to overlook him as when he's played, it's often standing in for Fernandinho in the anchor role. But with KdB's injury, he could come in for either of the Silva's too. Could be a sneaky differential at a bargain price.

TL / DR - I'd guess at Bilva playing in CL and tougher PL games. Dilva and Mahrez (if Sané injured playing for Germany) for the DGW.

I don't see anyone even mentioning anything about Mendy, didn't Pep say he might be back after the IB, people have totally discounted him out. I think he made a similar comment on KDB too. Wasn't it?

            You’re right.

It would be a surprise if they’re thrown in from the start, but definitely something to consider. Perhaps fair to say Stones the most likely to play in GW32 with KdB and Mendy eased back in?

Yes but Pep's said he'll be available "next week" or words to that effect several times over the past 6-8 gameweeks or so. I've been paying attention for a while now because I'd like to get ahead of the curve by getting Mendy in right away but his return seems to just be repeatedly delayed with what I assume is recurring injury trouble.

      Kun Rashford Bats

      Button McArthur Duffy Simpson

      Ederson
      David Luiz Lindeloff Azpilicueta Schlupp
      Pogba Sterling Hazard (v) Milivojevic
      Rashford Aguero (C)

      Button, Peltier, Oriol Romeu, 4.0

      0.5M ITB

Anything I can upgrade with the remaining funds? I have low TV/SV in general. Not sure how I can improve this. Thanks!

Was thinking Lindeloff to Smalling considering his doubt?

Apparently Luiz is a rotation risk (I'm still keeping until I hear something concrete) so keep an eye out on that.

Like the Smalling pick (safest Man Utd defender imo), Rashford and Zaha may need monitoring.

Son? Not for me, knackered and lacking any form imo but on the whole team looks decent 🙂

      Hey peeps!

FH team currently for 32, let me know what you think:

      Ederson
      Luiz Rudiger Schlupp
Hazard Pogba Sterling (VC) Deulofeu Alli
      Aguero Rashford

      Bench: Fodder @ 3.8, 3.8. 3.9 & 4.5

Still looking at Wolves strongly but may stay away due to rotation. Bigger issue is whether to go four mid and three up front or five mid and two up front. Thoughts? Have gone with Alli purely for the differential gamble.

Would getting Quaner instead of the £4.5m you have make any difference for you?

Rate my team please (note that I don't have a free hit chip, this is me playing my wild card for the next few weeks):

      Kepa (Hamer)
      Luiz Schlupp Wan-Bisaka Duffy Valery
Mane Sterling (VC) Pogba Fraser Romeu
      Aguero (C) Deeney Higuain

      Zero in the bank.

Question: Sterling + Deeney.... or Hazard + Rashford?

      Kepa
      Azpi-Lindelof-Laporte
      Son-Sterling-Pogba-Hazard-Martial
      Zaha-Aguero

      What you think lads?

I will surely play 3-5-2. Only concern is Martial. If he s not fit and Rashford is then i will switch them.
