Captains

Captain poll wide open for Double Gameweek 35

We are set for another wide open captaincy debate for Double Gameweek 35 of Fantasy Premier League.

There are a number of teams with two fixtures, but very few of those are particularly appealing – so it’s possible that Fantasy managers may have to turn to single Gameweek options.

You can now vote in our latest poll embedded below or in the sidebar.

Manchester City have arguably two of the hardest meetings of the season in their attempt to retain the Premier League title.

First, they host Spurs before travelling to face their city rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The form of Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) could see him receive some attention but his record in matches against the top-six and the fact that he remains a rotation risk may put people off.

Likewise, Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.7m) chances of starting both Double Gameweek 35 matches seem low at this stage, especially as his services will probably be required in midweek Champions League action.

For the same reason, options such as Son Heung-min (£8.8m) could be hard to captain, considering he was named on the bench in Spurs’ Double Gameweek 34 win over Huddersfield.

Manchester United are in a similar position as they must travel to Everton, who have five clean sheets in their last seven, and host in-form Manchester City.

Arguably, the team with the best set of fixtures in Double Gameweek 35 is Wolves as they host Brighton and Arsenal.

Neither of their next two opponents have been particularly strong on their travels this season, while Wolves themselves have won four of their last five at Molineux, scoring 12 goals and conceding five times in that run.

That could see Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) or even Diogo Jota (£6.2m) trusted with the armband by those looking for a pragmatic differential option.

Watford also have some appealing fixtures with a trip to Huddersfield and a home meeting with Southampton.

However, with Troy Deeney (£5.9m) now suspended and Gerard Deulofeu‘s (£5.6m) fitness situation currently unclear, backing the Hornets may prove difficult.

Arguably, the most attractive fixture of Double Gameweek 35, is Liverpool’s trip to Cardiff.

The Bluebirds have conceded at least two in seven of their last eight league matches, while the Reds are fresh off the back of defeating Chelsea 2-0.

They may only have one fixture in Double Gameweek 35, but the case for captaining either one of Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) or Sadio Mané (£10.1m) will be strong.

Only FPL could make Brighton v Cardiff on a Tuesday evening interesting.

Relegation sixpointer though. Brighton win would basically end Cardiff's hopes of survival.
I've been through it in yhe Swansea vs Southampton game last season in GW37. Screamed my head off when Gabbiadini scored, what a moment.

          I don't think I understand what you're saying?

I'm saying that because the Champions League is on, which is understandably a huge draw, it's even more impressive that Brighton v Cardiff is interesting due to FPL 🙂

OK. This is after all a Fantasy Football website but Brighton v Cardiff is interesting to many in itself. FPL’s a bonus.

Oh oh, yeah of course. Yeah it's definitely interesting to many!

But for loads of people it wouldn't be without FPL, which for me shows how important FPL is for the Premier League!

Everyone criticises him offensively, but part of me wonders how much of that is down to Palace's setup. They are underdogs in most of their games, and also have an incredibly attacking left-back in PVA.

He's a former winger, so you'd have to think the assists and goals output would be half decent at a bigger club with a more attacking outlook.

Defensively he's an absolute beast. I rate him highly.

If I do Deeney to Success I have exactly 1.7m spare to swap Sterling to Salah next week to triple captain him without any points hit. Then reverse the transfer in 37 and again in 38 so I finish the season with:

GW36: Salah home to Huddersfield (triple captain)
    GW37: Sterling home to Leicester
    GW38: Salah home to Wolves

    Thoughts?

I personally think there is a case for part clean sheet points (perhaps an extra point) for defenders if they make 45 mins without conceding.

If it worked as betting markets do you would get les than 5 points as more goals are scored in final 10 minutes than any other time period. PL goal scoring minutes;-
        1-10 1831
        11-20 2030
        21-30 2099
        31-40 2175
        41-50 2598
        51-60 2536
        61-70 2537

        45 min = 1 point cash out, 80 min = 2 point cash out

That way it's realistic - bookies never give you good cash out value and this isn't good cash out value either. That way casuals don't get punished for not being able to spend time on it during match days but it adds for some interesting scenarios in H2H leagues where you might be content taking 1/2 points to guarantee more chance of a win.

Is my team ready for the DGW? I'm playing my BB this week.

      Ederson

Van Dijk - Luiz - Kolasinac

      Son - Sterling - Tielemans - Mane

      Jiminez (c) - Laca - Firmino

      Patricio / Brooks / Doherty / AWB

If City was forced out of UCL by Spurs and Aguero went thru the match with no injury, it looks like a must to have him on DGW35, right ?

And .. it will not be great for Spurs during GW 36-37, right ?

To be clear, I was agreeing it would be bad for Spurs assets 36-37. Don't think it makes Kun essential for 35.

Used my wildcard and it was terrible with 36 point

      Ryan
      Dunk Duffy(c) laporte
      Son eriksen sterling mane
      Deeney aguero jiminez
      Bench: TAA valery delefeou foster

So i was planning to use my bench boost but now i am not quite sure about using it.

Valery is doubtful to play, delefeou is still yellow flagged, deeney is red carded. So 1 is out, 2 are doubtful, only left is foster. I can leave ryan on bench as i already have 2 other brighton defenders

So probably i can just play
      Foster
      Laporte duffy TAA
      Mane son eriksen delefeou sterling
      Aguero jiminez
      Bench: ryan dunk deeney valery

And don’t use bb at all now and probably use it next week with 2 FT.

      What do you guys think?

We might as well pick the cheapest one since they are all rotation risks no? Gray, Ings, Long, Succes ? I think Im going with Long, that gives me Salah to afford in 36 for TC

      Lloris foster
      Doherty taa Duffy dunk bednarek
      Mane kdb son Jota Højbjerg

Or could get a 5.9 or below striker and avoid -4

Having transfered Wilson out in my gw34 wc I find myself considering the humiliating option of transferring him back in for Twoy. Those 15 pts sure did hurt but some humble pie might be needed. Thoughts?

yeah, I someone managed to end up keeping 0.7m back (Why I don't know) on my WC and can do a straight swap to Wilson.

Humiliation requires concern for others' opinion, but nobody else minds

        BB team. 2.1m for upgrades.

        Thinking something like,
        1. Duffy->Robbo (Exact cash atm).
        2. Vardy-> Aubameyang.
        3. Other move(s)?

        Lloris, Foster.
        Kola, TAA, Dunk, Duffy, Bednarek.
        Mane, Eriksen, Son, Jota, JWP.
        Vardy, Aguero, Jimenez.
        1ft, 2.1m.

        Fabianski (Boruc)
        Alexander-Arnold, Kolasinac, Mepham (Schar, Wan-Bissaka)
        Salah, Sterling, Son, Tielemans (Hayden)
        Aguero, King, Rondon

        1FT, 1.8 in bank

        (A) Rondon / King ---> Jimenez
        (B) Tielemans ---> Martial
        (C) Schar / Mepham ---> Trippier

What on earth is going on?

Barcelona v Utd covered on TV, and no Brighton v Cardiff.

Is eriksen too expensive for his return? How was he looking? Hope he was playing up.

Yes IMO. Massively regret getting him on the wildcard and he will be gone for me after the DGW.

Anyone going for the bizarre new £4.0m midfielders that FMLFPL spoke about yesterday? Random additions...

        Double gameweek preparation:

        Ryan.
        Duffy. Doherty. TAA.
        Sterling. Son. Eriksen. Mane.
        Aguero. DEENEY. Jimenez.

        Subs: Hamer. Jota. Bednarek. Dunk.

Deeney > Andre Gray....?? And Duffy/ Ryan > Kolasinac/ Leno..??

What to do from second one..??? GK or def..??

        And what about 1st one..??
