FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

We’ve reached the quarter-final stage of our second FFS Cup of the season.

The draw for the last eight has now been made after the round of 16 took place in Double Gameweek 34, with a handful of ties being settled by the odd point or two.

FFS moderator Rotation’s Alter Ego edged out Lal Toofan (who is now ranked at 750 in the world) 50-48, with his choice of Son Heung-min as captain giving him a crucial extra three points over his rival.

Our highest-ranked remaining manager, HPCAMPBELL, saw off the challenge of aha_berg by 59 points to 44. HPCAMPBELL registered his tenth green arrow in a row in Gameweek 34 and now has an OR of 262.

Our one remaining FPL manager with a seven-digit rank bowed out of the competition. Vulken was defeated 35-36 by Hi Ho Silva Lining, who prevailed despite handing the armband to Shane Duffy and counting Troy Deeney – who was sent off against Arsenal – among his starting XI.

dark91 is now our lowest-ranked surviving manager, having recorded the highest score of the round in defeating Foot Fighter 61-39 – a 21-point haul from Lucas Moura helping dark91 to a seventh straight green arrow.

LOKOMOTIV is nicely positioned just outside the top 1k and he saw off I Member 49-45 in another close-run tie.

Another FFS site user sitting inside the top 5,000 exited the competition, however: Profa Benitez losing by the tightest of margins to Ibra-gum.

Roger150 and Skogen89 were the winners of our other two ties, defeating Evil Elvis and Insanity Later respectively.

The full sixth round results were as follows:

Llorente seems a decent option as a Deeney replacement. Should get enough minutes to justify having, especially with Spurs fixture congestion and injury list, and easily benchable at his price if not.

Sterling was dropped for the second game in GW32 after getting a hat trick each for club and country

That's why I said now is the last huge reason for him to rotate. Next game is just a few days after their last UCL game, which was very physically demanding

Pep wasn't able to rotate Sterling as he would have liked because Bilva was injured

Sane - Aguero - Bilva is a very, very good selection for any big game, especially as l fatigue has started to creep in

Still, it's left to be seen

        2. ㅤRising
          • 5 Years

They are playing against Spurs and United now, not against Cardif and Fulham, they cant afford to rotate their best players now. Bilva can play on the right, Sterling will be on the left

          1. Ze_Austin
            • 5 Years
            5 years, 2 hours ago

There is a quote where Pep said Sane is the best player in the world at playing wide left. It was part of when he was explaining Mahrez's lack of game time recently. I don't have a link, but I remember that clearly

Bilva just returned and is very fresh. KDB, Dilva and Gundogan would have two CAM spots to contest, with Bilva probably dropping into that contest for one of the two games. Sane - Aguero - Bilva is a very capable frontline for one of the big games, especially with the number of 90-minute matches Sterling has had to play in a row due to Bilva's absence

            1. YEAH PITCH!
              • 5 Years
              5 years, 2 hours ago

I don't think you can read too much into all this. Pep has to play his best 11 week in week out, excluding injuries etc. Opposition fear KDB, Sterling and Aguero, more than they do Sane, Dilva and Jesus.

The optimal time for me to have bench boosted this season was GW30: 18 points.

By starting my strongest XI this week to give a fair evaluation of BB chip value, I'm left with the following bench: Ryan Duffy Camarasa* Valery.

(*Camarasa will be upgraded to a max value 6.7m, but would still be my worst of 8 starting attackers).

If that lot can get 18 points I would be delighted.

Anyone had more than 18 points in a single week gone to waste on their bench this season?

I also had 14 points that week, AWB with the haul that got away.

    2. MTPockets
        5 years, 2 hours ago

My highest was 19, then a couple of 14s. The more I think about that the more it makes sense to just play it this week regardless

        1. Zladan
          • 6 Years
          5 years, 2 hours ago

I've toyed with a TC this week and then BB some other week, but realistically, the bench is usually going to be of around max £19m value and would be hard to nail 20 points from that on any week.

Both TC and BB would be maximised using the doubles, it's just determining which one to use. Looking at the potential TC options this week compared to BB options, I would say BB is probably better on this occassion.

Especially when you consider the alternative weeks to use the other chip.

          1. MTPockets
              5 years, 2 hours ago

I've used up TC, but tougher choice otherwise. City attackers look a better TC bet now

Last GW had Wilson's 15 point haul and Leno's CS on the bench for a total of 24 points between 4 benched players, hadn't had a haul like that on the bench all season so I guess it was due.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Shane long?

Will get at least 90 minutes over the two games, frees up funds and easy to bench for the rest of the season. Would be lucky to get any attacking returns from him, but form is a funny thing so you never know.

Although you have triple Brighton I would go gunn

I would rather hit dunk out to a SOU defender

IF you're binning one Brighton, then I'd rather do Dunk >> Yoshida.

He offers some goal threat & Watford are susceptible to set pieces
