The Dugout Discussion opens today for two Premier League games involving some of it’s most enjoyable teams to watch. Third-place chasing Spurs take on the exciting Swansea City after Newcastle host Liverpool, with the former fighting for European football.

The team news from the game at The Sports Direct Arena is in, and the sides line-up as follows…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Perch, Gutierrez, Guthrie, Tiote, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Cisse, Ba.

Liverpool XI: Reina, Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Jose Enrique, Shelvey, Spearing, Gerrard, Suarez, Carroll, Bellamy.

Alan Pardew is without the injured Fabricio Coloccini, which partners James Perch with Mike Williamson in central defence and puts Jonas Gutierrez in the left-back berth. It’s the same attacking mentality that served them so well at West Brom.

Liverpool also name an attacking side, knowing that a win here is essential if they want to overhaul the Magpies. Andy Carroll returns to his former stomping ground and starts alongside Luis Suarez.

    The big thing for Liverpool is that if Kenny cant get them to play properly it's unlikely any lesser name coming in will. They may as well stick with him and just try lower the fans expectations.

    Well, I had planned on doing Surman & Suarez -> Bale & P Cisse, but decided to save the transfer after the DGW news. Instead I did Enrique -> Kompany. Expecting a Bale hat-trick later today. Damn you DGWs!!!!

      Yes and it was most likely HBA's. It won't be revised as the PA have given it and there's nothing conclusive to say it wasn't. Please let's not have the whinging that came with the Rooney assists.

    Is it me or has bandwagons and chasing last weeks points worked 9 times out of 10 this season?

        Yeah I thought of the Euro 88 volley as soon as he scored. I think the volley is better as it's a much harder technique than the Ronny goal. Both immense though.

      Also, would a penalty save for someone on 2 saves for the match already count towards his total saves, thus giving his 6 extra points, 5 for the penalty save and 1 for the 3 saves combined?

      I don't expect anyone to know this, just wondering... surely there is no precedence for this... 😕
