Captains

Man City options to headline Gameweek 37 captaincy

Manchester City and Chelsea are likely to be the teams at the forefront of the Gameweek 37 captaincy debate.

Both teams have appealing home fixtures this weekend, with Leicester City coming to the Etihad Stadium and Watford visiting Stamford Bridge.

Sergio Aguero (£11.9m) has more goals at home than any other forward this season, while the Foxes have not kept a clean sheet on the road since Gameweek 21 – before Brendan Rodgers took charge from Claude Puel.

The fact that the Argentinian found the net for the first time since Gameweek 32 on Sunday afternoon, he will certainly be in the minds of our voters.

The latest captain poll is now open and users can cast their choices either embedded in the article below or in the sidebar of our website.

Raheem Sterling (£11.6m) is likely to be another go-to option, despite registering just an assist in his last three Premier League outings.

He still has a 66.9% ownership among the top 10,000 managers, just 6% shy of Aguero.

A potential differential for Gameweek 37 could be Eden Hazard (£10.9m), and it will be interesting to see how much traction his cause becomes in the next few days.

The meeting with Watford on Sunday afternoon could conceivably be the Belgian’s last in a Chelsea shirt at Stamford Bridge, which might bring the best out of him.

However, Hazard has home form to back that sentiment up, with 47 points in his last four in front of his own fans.

That averages out at 11.75 points per game in that time, while Watford are without a clean sheet on the road since Gameweek 25.

Despite scoring five times on Huddersfield at Anfield on Friday, it is possible that a trip to Newcastle might put some managers off Liverpool options for Gameweek 37.

However, the Magpies have just one clean sheet at home since Gameweek 28, and with Premier League safety now secured the stakes are not quite as high for Rafa Benitez’s side.

Sadio Mané‘s (£10.1m) goal threat has largely been limited to Anfield matches this season, but Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) has more away goals than any other midfielder this season.

Manchester United’s visit to Huddersfield could present an opportunity for some differential captains.

The Terriers have now conceded 15 goals in their last four matches, at an average of 3.75 per game.

They are the perfect opponents for the Red Devils to face as they hope to book a finishing place in the division’s top four and claim Champions League football.

Paul Pogba (£8.5m) and Romelu Lukaku (£10.7m) will probably the ones that are looked at, although Marcus Rashford (£7.3m) is sure to be considered if he is passed fit.

Meanwhile, the form player in the league is Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) with the same number of goals in eight matches under Brendan Rodgers than in the 28 before that.

Such incredible form could see him act as a differential captain once again, even if Leicester travel to face Manchester City in Gameweek 37.

Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) might also be looked at with Fulham coming to Molineux although the Cottagers have now recorded three clean sheets in a row.

Really looking forward to tomorrow night.
I think spurs have a decent chance against Ajax but they'll need to raise their game a bit.

          You'll have to think so.
Although if Spurs go through, I'd say Spurs v Liverpool would be 50-50 on the night.

Locked in a bit of a battle in my Main ML. Didn't do enough to close the gap on my rival last week and so he has a 10 point lead going into the final hurrah. ... No chips for either of us. Both teams are below.

    My Team :-
    Ryan/Foster
    Laporte / Robbo / Doherty (Valery/Duffy)
    Erkisen / Sterling / Son / mane / Redmond
    Jiminez / Firmino (Gray)

    His Team :-
    Ryan/Foster
    Laporte/Robbo/Duffy (vertonghen/Valery)
    Mane/ Jota / Son / Sterling (JWP)
    Gray / Jimi / Aguero

When you strip it down you have doherty / Eriksen / Redmond / Firmino VS Vertonghen / Jota / JWP / Kun

Now, there are a few differences in there. Having watched the last few spurs games though doubling up any further is a no go as they have been woeful (cue a haul). To push the differential a bit I was considering Son > Pogba as an all or nothing punt.
A lot of people seem to be aiming at shifting Eriksen but I can't see any real reason why either would be rested with only a few games in their season left.

Thoughts / advice? Would love to bridge that gap. I know it's all gna boil down to a final day frenzy but Id like to set up as best I can this week and next.

What to do with this team? 3 points behind in mini league

    Gunn
    Vertonghen - TAA - Doherty
    Salah - Mane - Martial - Deulofeu
    Ings - Aguero - Vardy

    Foster - Valery - Duffy - Elliott

Cheers. Yeah according to reports Martial is being made the scapegoat for all United problems (probably to take the pressure away from De Gea) so I can't see him being ahead of Sanchez and Lingard in the pecking order so should probably get rid. Jota/Jimi double up v Fulham is very tempting

    Afternoon all

Depending on Firmino injury news, which move would you prefer to see out the last 2 GWs?

    A) Save this week, 2FT for GW38
    B) Son, Firmino > Sterling, Wilson (-4)
    C) Son, Firmino > Haz, Wilson/ Rash/ Zaha (-4)
    D) Firmino > Wilson/ Rash/ Zaha (FT)
    E) Something else

    1FT 0.4itb
    Lloris
    Robbo, Laporte, Doherty
    Salah, Son*, Jota, Mili
    Kun, Jimi, Firmino*
    (Foster) (JWP, Valery, Yoshida)

In my cash ML 2 of the 3 above me have Sterling and 2 also have both Son/ Eriksen so I expect them to maybe go for Haz or Pog

Leaning towards getting in Haz but not having Sterling is scaring me a little now

    Advice appreciated. Thanks!

Even if I don't do it this week, I may do it alongside Hojberg > Redmond with exact change, and without a hit.
