The last couple of weeks have been, quite frankly, a nightmare for owning Fantasy Premier League (FPL) midfielders. Squads have been decimated as hamstring injuries put paid to Cesc Fabregas and Rafael Van der Vaart, as well as Steven Gerrard. Mikel Arteta gets a straight red and is banned for three games, while the likes of Florent Malouda -with one goal and one assist in his last 10 games- may almost just as well have been sidelined, given the value of his recent contribution for a £10.2m Fantasy Player.

With plenty of Fantasy Managers looking for alternatives in light of absentees and ill-form, we decided to give our Members a view of the best-performing midfielders this season, breaking down both their scores and vital OPTA stats to weigh up the best and most consistent options as we go into a busy December schedule.

In particular, we discovered, and focus on, a group of eleven midfielders entitled “The Four or Mores”. These players have averaged 4 points or more per game both at home and away, which suggests a consistency that allows them to be fielded with, perhaps, more confidence than others. Here’s a breakdown:

I'd suggest Coleman has the better chance of playing, simply because a) Everton or playing so bad and b) Arteta's ban may see a re-shuffle. Elmo I think is game over, considering Sunderlands good form and performances with the current side.

If mummy gets a chance i'm sure he'll do better than Coleman. With an in form attack it would be great if Mummy got a chance. Coleman is going downhill but given Arteta's ban he might get more gametime.

I'm a sunderland season ticket holder and I think that elmo will start this week. He's a homer though so don't both playing him any away games.

I had same dilemma and took coleman out for kolarov. No way he's playing and even if he did not gonna score points against chelsea.

You might young to remember but United spent massively between early 1990s up until 2005.

I find it extremly rich for any United fan to try and take the moral high ground on wages, fees, etc.

It was United who were the driving force for this in the Uk for years.

Is Adebayor REALLY going to end up at Spurs?

I thought the whole point of the 'Bellamy saga' was because Man City didn't want him to go to any Premiership clubs that they perceived to be their close rivals, with Tottenham being one of these clubs. Why would Adebayor be any different?

I had him for 10 weeks and bought him at 8.5 million before unfortunately ditching him a fortnight ago. I thought he was a bargain at 8.5 and he's not vastly more than that now. It looks like United are playing Berbatov as central striker with Rooney deeper and as long as SAF plays with two forwards, he will continue to score.'

He won't figure in my plans any more but the Manchester United centre forward for under 9 has to be a bargain in anyone's language.

Lookin for a VDV replacement.. got 8.3 to spend and already have
    Bale Nani Nzogbia Jarvis
Initially thought i'd replace him with Nasri, but with Fabs back soon is Nasri really the best option(manu away next week too)
My other option is Brunt.. should start even durin the hectic christmas schedule too
    who do i go for?

If you've kept Drogba this long, give him a last chance in a home match. His points in home matches are 17, 9, 10, 6, 2, 2, 2. This is probably his last match for me unless he does something spectacular. I can always get him back as his price is back to where it started.

Better to transfer injured players first ahead of Chelsea centre forwards who are playing.

I took Berbatov out of one of my other Fantasy teams that I do and he goes and scores five goals. He hadn't scored in their previous SEVEN leauge games(that he played in) and there was nothing to suggest that he would score big in the Blackburn game. Blackburn were more than shocking and some of the goals they gave him were an absolute disgrace, they could hardly break down the nine men of Wigan but could score seven against Blackburn!

To be honest with you RBJ, it would be useful if the site offered a section called FAQ for questions like these. This week, it is who to get for VdV, last week it was who to get for Fabregas, another week it was Nani or Fabs for captain etc etc. It would be great if Mark and the boys could provide something like this.

even something as sinple as a reminder every time you hit the site like " dnt forget to check the previous posts for what youre looking for"

meh, it'll never happen, like preseason rmt's. People in general are thick as two planks, those of us who arent should be grateful i suppose.

If you don't take advice because you are the almighty and think people are thick for asking for any advice.....this site has no purpose.
