How Eden Hazard’s exit could affect Chelsea’s other FPL midfielders

Eden Hazard‘s move to Real Madrid brings to an end the Belgian’s seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge and his prolonged stint as a premium midfield option in Fantasy Premier League.

Chelsea’s number ten may have frustrated Fantasy managers on the odd occasion but he has been a talismanic figure for the Blues and a serial plunderer of FPL points, having registered 85 goals and 66 assists in the Premier League since his debut in August 2012.

A total of 238 points in 2018/19 represented his best ever single-season haul, with only Mohamed Salah having recorded more in the campaign just gone.

The questions now are where does that leave Chelsea and how appealing are their other Fantasy options in 2019/20 as a result?

The Blues are in unfamiliar territory as they haven’t had to cope without Hazard for an extended period during his time in west London, with the Belgian having avoided serious injury and made 31 or more Premier League appearances in each of his seven seasons with Chelsea.

The Belgian’s longest spell on the sidelines was for four top-flight matches in 2015/16.

In the season just gone, Hazard missed only one league game – the 4-0 win over Burnley in October – and featured as a substitute in a further five fixtures.

Alright this round of cricket fantasy was awful because of the rain, which makes me ask which matches in the next round are most likely going to be washed out? Southampton, Taunton, Bristol, Nottingham, Cardiff and London folks your insights are needed please

How does the ICC host the world cup in a country that rains every day. This is not a dig at England, just ruins the entire new format that they put together because a lot of the games will be rained out

This format is the best it's just the selection of hosts that is not

Robertson was the all time record points scoring defender but I get the feeling everyone here is going to pick TAA instead.

The double or triple up is tempting but how many will hold their nerve if Pool don’t clean in GW1?

TAA, Robbo, Salah will be my Liverpool weapons of choice all being well - it’ll be good to get prices and fixtures though to make sure

I think I’m going to go two Liverpool AND two City at the back.

Going to have to cheap out my forward line though.

That's an interesting strategy but will 2 City/Pool defence allow for Sterling and Salah without decimating the rest of your squad?

Using FFFix prices I got this:

            Fab 4.0
            TAA Laporte Digne AWB 4.5
            Salah Sterling Brooks 4.5 4.5
            PEA Vardy 4.5

it could be done I reckon.

              who is PEA?

How much money would this leave for the 3 missing players?

              Pickford 4.0
              TAA Robbo, Laporte, Digne Periera
              Salah Sterling 4.5 4.5 +1
              4.5 +2

              Sorry I don't have FFFix

PEA is Auba (should have written him as his more known name)

                You'd have 21.0 left

                  THANK YOU

                  It's tempting.

                  Always captain Salah or Sterling.

21m for 3 players - there's always some bargains at 6.5, just about getting on them early.

You'd need balls to stick to the 5 man defence tho. Patience very much required.

          • 14 Years

If Mendy is fit he’d be my first choice -Laporte will likely be 6.5 so he could be skippable at that price but equally could be super

As I posted a few days ago -I’m not really interested in many attackers this season outside of sterling, Salah, (as long as they're not reclassed to forwards) and Vardy - maybe JWP, Tielemans, Maddison & H-Barnes also... possibly Redmond as I think Southampton will be good under Ralphie

Kane doesn't interest me really at the minute
Pogba will get a massive price hike
          As will Rashford
          Son & Moura same
          Eriksen probably gone
          Mane's price will rocket
          Haz will be gone
Richarlison & Siggy big price hikes
Good luck trying to afford Jiminez
Same with Jota, who could also be a forward
          Deulofeu big price rise
Mili will be priced out of it
Zaha might be good if he gets popped back to midfield & doesnt price rise
Fraser, Wilson, King, Brooks - need to keep an eye on them
Mahrez, Dilva, Bilva, Sane - nothing but rotation headaches

And then we have TAA, Robbo, Digne, VVD, Mendy, Laporte all just sitting waiting ready to make a mockery of the vast majority of these attackers, for much cheaper into the bargain

The thing is everyone always says they're going to go heavy in defence pre season/ before prices are announced.

Robertson and TAA will surely be 7.0 or 6.5ish. People will put them in and then realise they can't have all the big hitters they want.

Think it's too dependent on prices and fixtures, but City and Liverpool are so far ahead of the other teams that I can see most people taking 3 from each.

Anyone who goes 3 Pool & City will have to accept that for at least 2 gws their team will suffer unless the rest of the team delivers big. Even when they don't face each other the chances for a distaster of a gw is high.

I think that's a risk most will be willing to take. Depends on prices of course, but they're so much better than the rest...

Far too optimistic on Robbo/TAA price - I think TAA is very likely to be 7.5

They both could even be worth it. I think VAR coming will increase the amount of penalty shots these guys will be getting for Pool.

If Robbo is only 0.5 more and Pool don't get a backup LB or one that can play from gw1 then I'm going for Robbo to avoid TAA's benchings in tough games

Seems pretty sound, didn’t hold TAA for much of the season until the last 6 game weeks as he always got injured as soon as I got him in before that.

Fortunately I always held Robbo and TAA was be double up.

I'll only consider VVD only if he is cheaper than Robbo (7.5), TAA (7.0), VVD (6.5)

The case for double Pool defense is strong.
But Mane and Sane may well be stronger, I think this may well define our season.

It’s not broken it’s just the longer it’s been since a game the colder the heat map looks. So by now you shouldn’t see anything.
