Is Richarlison or Gylfi Sigurdsson better FPL value at £8.0m?

The release of the Fantasy Premier League price list has seen Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson both priced up as £8.0m midfielders.

Everton sit top of our Season Ticker for the first ten Gameweeks of the season and are the only Premier League side to avoid a ‘big six’ club in their opening half-dozen matches, so interest in the Toffees’ Fantasy assets will be keen.

Both Richarlison and Sigurdsson scored 13 top-flight goals last season and recorded their best-ever FPL points hauls.

Given that the Everton midfield duo can’t be separated by price, we will run a direct statistical comparison in the Members’ article below to weigh up the pros and cons of each asset.

As well as the usual goal threat and creativity comparisons, we’ll be assessing their record against ‘lesser’ sides (given Everton’s favourable run at the start of 2019/20) using our new Flat-Track Bully tool.

    Zaha vs Mili...
I'm currently on Mili for penalties. This Zaha-Arsenal noise is interesting though. I don't think Arsenal will spend big money (any money) but if the weird thing happens I'd be tempted by Zaha in a big-six club.

Arsenal's budget is about £50mil and Palace value Zaha £80-100mil. I can't see it happening

Utd? Yeah, so that pushes the price up for Zaha so Palace get more money. Only way they can afford him is if they sell Auba/Laca

I don't get the fuss about Zaha. Yes nice price but i'm not sure he'll get as many pens now VAR will be checking every one. However he is the better choice of the two.

Thesis my dilemma. I keep switching between the two. Zara's reclassification as a MID means they would have scored almost identical last season.

I think Zaha has higher goal involvement for Palace so on him atm

If he goes to Arsenal ill be worried about his minutes

Exactly. Got two goals, even though he started to get in the XI second half of the season. Dendoncker attacking threat could be bigger than his price suggests.

He carried a real attacking threat over the last third of the season. Was unlucky not to score more. Hit the woodwork on several occasions. I think he could be good value as a rotation option.

    A) Zinchenko (big rotation risk I reckon)

Been playing about with early drafts and I'm considering starting off without a city attack and going Kane and salah for the first 2 gw and taking it from there, potentially with money itb to go kane to kun/sterling (madness to leave cash unused I know!)

Pre season/ community shield may rip that up but feel if Kane looks on form it could well be a case of it being too big a risk not to have him for villa gw1

Interesting how the GW1 BB idea has almost been consigned to the bin after the game went live and prices were available. Suggests it may be a touch harder to find value early this season.

    1. Andy_Social
      • 11 Years

GW1 and GW38 are very unwise times to play BB as you don't know who the managers' are going to put on the pitch.

      1. Brosstan
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

All managers will play their first 11 especially this year With so many players having a full summer off. Even last year after the WC all the gloom and doom about players being rested for the start of the season turned out untrue as almost every player was ready for GW1.

BB GW1 is the only GW where you can essentially wildcard and play BB the same week. That said, I dont like the fixtures for a GW1 BB this year.

Until we find out who the bargain basement gems are there is no point playing BB. Unless you have a magic GW1 squad with all 15 playing then you need those 4.0/ 4.5 diamonds who make the BB worthwhile

The most interesting for me from this article is that one of the absolute best value midfielders in the game even at a price of 8.0 blanked in a massive 60% of his games. Meaning he could have a stretch of 3 blanks at the start and it wouldnt be the slightest surprising statistically Patience truly is the name of FPL.

Great point. You need to have amazing luck to get even close to a full team of players who will each score in, say, the first 2-3 fixtures.

If you can hit the sweet spot early it's easier to hold then to chase because you can save vital FTs and soak up team value while everyone else sweats.

With that said, sometimes you need to know when to twist. It took me way too long to learn that the difference between King and Wilson last season was down to performance and not statistical variance!

      1. Brosstan
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

Theres a 17% of 3 blanks and almost a 10% chance of 4 blanks in a row even after reducing the blank chance to 55% to take the easy Schedule into account.. All about playing the percentages ofc but theres so much variance in this game

I can. At the beginning of the season, we had to bed in Keita and Fabinho. Both improved significantly, especially the latter who didnt really contribute before November. Ox is also back and Gomez is fit. We will hopefully get a couple of signings before season starts. I've seen us linked to Firpo -promising left back who can play left mid, and Pepe, who looks similar to Mane

A lot of people, myself included, are looking at spending 10m on a GK. Ederson and a 4m being the most likely.
For an extra 0.5m you can rotate Lloris and Leno giving this great run of home fixtures:
AVL BUR NEW TOT CRY AVL SOU BOU WAT CRY WOL SHU SOU BOU BHA BUR

    Top 10 teams: 2
    Bottom 10 teams: 11
    Promoted: 3

Not a fan of rotating goalies, many times in the past the one on the bench scored more than the one with "easier" fixture.

Personally looking at Hugo Lloris as my set and forget option.

I'm liking this set up for now with a view to WC in GW 5 if things go wrong and the likes of Kane, Son, Auba, City defense and Chelsea start to look enticing.

    Heaton - 4m
TAA - Coleman - Adam Smith - Dunk - Kelly
    Salah - Sterling - Sigurdsson - Zaha - Brooks
    Vardy - King - 4.5m

    Thoughts please? 🙂

Yes but either Salah or Mane cost between 4.5 and 7.0 more than the defenders. That money saved is potentially the difference between bench fodder and a 150 point player.
              TAA + (9.0) > Salah + (4.5)

Narrow down your pool of 7m players that you have intrest in and then think who will score most over several opening fixtures.

        Already got King, so...
        TAA/Robbo (if fit)
        Sanchez
        Zaha/Mill
        Arnie
        Maddison

Who would you choose from that list?

      i may start with Arnie
Question is whether you're confident of picking the right replacement when he inevitably gets injured. 7.0 and below strikers don't exactly inspire confidence.
A 7.0 mid gives you a choice between the likes of Maddison, Zaha, Brooks and Redmond
As for defenders, you'll likely set and forget

😀 I don't think there is many of us!
What has swayed me is the fixtures amount of potential clean sheets, also the fact TAA and Robertson are good captain choices in thier own right.

Draft number two! Too much money on the bench? Planning to bench one of Zaha, Deulofeu or Maddison depending on fixtures

    Ryan
    Robbo, VVD, Mendy/Laporte, Coleman, (Kelly)
    Salah, KDB, Siggy, Zaha (Maddison)
    King, Deulofeu (Wickham)

Yep too much money on the bench, that 2.5m to downgrade from Maddison to Dendoncker could land you either Vardy or Sterling for Deulo/KDB

its not a bad idea, i made a note end of last season to focus on a nailed def (4 at the back) and look at cheap rotations on my 4th, 5th mid and 3rd striker spot. those plans are out the window i feel now the prices are in as just not sure where the value is in the mid/strikers 5.5 and under. I guess i was hoping the likes of McNeil, Brooks, H.Barnes wouldn't get such big price increases.

It could work but I can to the conclusion its too much money each week on the bench.

      1. KUNingas

Yeah maybe I will drop Maddison and get Dendoncker. Would leave me 3.0 ITB. Maybe I will keep the money ITB and get some bandwagon after GW1.

    First draft - thoughts?

    Ryan (Button)
Robertson - TAA - Digne (Fredericks - Kelly)
Salah - Sigs - Zaha - Barkley (Dendoncker)
    Aguero - King - Jota

Seen lots of sterling over aguero but i feel more comfortable with a spread of value.

      Nice team.
If I were picking holes I wouldn't be overly keen on Barkley (not necessarily nailer, limited attacking returns) or Jota (managed minutes, Europa League)

  22. Kambo

    Ryan
    Taa Robbo Walker Smith
    Salah Sterling Bilva Zaha
    Wilson Ings
    (Button Diop Dendoncker 4.5)

Playing 2 of Adam Smith, Ings or Diop each week allows me to optimize fixtures on a budget. With plans around the Game week 3 mark to move Wilson and Bilva to Vardy and a 7m (Willian, Maddisson, Mili ect).
Trying to make my team interchangeable to be able to hop onto an inform player where ever they may pop up. Here's to hoping Maguire becomes a City player for us all. Thoughts ? ? ?

Not convinced Ings is nailed let alone worth £6m
Not convinced Wilson is worth £1.5m more than King, especially if Fraser leaves
I do like your rotation idea though, can certainly be worked with, a decent balanced team.

As a punt, who would you choose out of Gros, Perez, Redmond or Brooks?

    1. Kambo
      • 6 Years
      4 years, 9 months ago

Between Gross, Redmond and Brooks for me. Those first 2 fixtures of Brooks are hard to turn down but it all depends if Fraser stays for me. With Redmond he has a few tough fixtures early so need to find a rotation player for him imo (Diop).
Gros is a very interesting prospect with a injury riddled season effecting his starting price. With Brighton looking to play more attacking its very enticing for me to pick Gros knowing everything pretty much runs through him. Brooks for first 2 gameweeks and then reassess.

Yeah, always liked him as an FPL option. Bit of a YC magnet due to his tough-tackling style, though. He will forever be a legend for me for getting 15 points off the bench for me away to Spurs a few seasons back. Thought I was destined for a one pointer after Luke Shaw (I think) no-show. Absolute ledge. Made my day at the time, that did. . . !

There are some great value 5.5 players -

    McGinn - Villa

Fancy Gomez to majority of this season as I doubt they’ll want to starve him if game time and risk losing one of the top English talents. Pre season will tell. FPL wise the best would be Matip as he is a beat for BAPS, makes dribbles forwards for fun like Maguire and is a giant at set pieces. But Gomez probs.
