The last couple of weeks have been, quite frankly, a nightmare for owning Fantasy Premier League (FPL) midfielders. Squads have been decimated as hamstring injuries put paid to Cesc Fabregas and Rafael Van der Vaart, as well as Steven Gerrard. Mikel Arteta gets a straight red and is banned for three games, while the likes of Florent Malouda -with one goal and one assist in his last 10 games- may almost just as well have been sidelined, given the value of his recent contribution for a £10.2m Fantasy Player.

With plenty of Fantasy Managers looking for alternatives in light of absentees and ill-form, we decided to give our Members a view of the best-performing midfielders this season, breaking down both their scores and vital OPTA stats to weigh up the best and most consistent options as we go into a busy December schedule.

In particular, we discovered, and focus on, a group of eleven midfielders entitled “The Four or Mores”. These players have averaged 4 points or more per game both at home and away, which suggests a consistency that allows them to be fielded with, perhaps, more confidence than others. Here’s a breakdown:

Put this earlier on today but felt I'd put it down once again to see if someone on now world be able to answer it.

I was wondering if anyone had a list of the amount of games which were postponed last year and at which grounds?

I would imagine that the further north you go the likelihood of a game being called off increases but that could be easily wrong.

Sunderland and Newcastle will be the most likely to get called off in any given week.

For that reason im avoiding Sunderland players like the plague

That was partially why I asked, alot of people seem to be putting forward Bent as a reasonably prospect for a striker. If it turned out that Sunderland had the most postponed games it might make people slightly more wary, certainly making me atleast.

The north and south of the uk don't really have significantly different climates mate, it's as much about when the fixtures fell as where they fell.

Don't think there is anything useful to be gained from looking at last season tbh.

you couldnt be more wrong pal.

It snows a hell of a lot more in the Newcastle area than it does on Merseyside for instance

That may be but we're talking about a freak weather patch, not an average. It will hit all over the country and hit different areas differently.

You're onto a losing game if you even try and factor this into transfers - it's far beyond the realms of predictability.

Honestly, you're oversimplifying it. I'd be wary but don't get caught up in trying to predict things before they happen. It's a completely different situation. For example last year there was a shortage of grit in some areas etc.

Too many factors, it's impossible to predict.

Be prudent and save transfers as long as you can in a gameweek, that's all you need to do.

I still honestly think that infrastucture for dealing with weather like this will differ when it comes to seperate regions around England. I think some interesting patterns could be revealed if you managed to get a view of the amount of postponed games over a season (or a few seasons).

I agree in essence with the point you're making.

What i'm trying to say that if you think you can use this to get any kind of advantage in fantasy football then you're oversimplifying the problem. It's too complicated and the advantage too insignificant to even think about.

Do the transfers you would do if you knew the games were going ahead, and wait until saturday morning to hear news before you make your transfers. That's more than most people will do and will give you an advantage because of that.

Is it worth taking a 4 point hit to replace either Bosingwa or Jagielka with Kolarov and, if so, who would you get rid of out of these two?

I wouldn't take a hit to get rid of those 2.

If you have Coleman or Elmo or someone else who's injured, then taking them out for Kolarov would probably be justified.

no no no, youre wrong. YOu have a defence, play them. never take a hit for a defender unless you havent got a 3rd defender. dont get sucked into the sheep train of kolarov man- good option yeah, but think for yourself, 4 point for a defender is daft. Bosingwa might play no?
