How does Tielemans affect and compare to Leicester’s other FPL assets?

Leicester City’s permanent capture of Youri Tielemans (£6.5m) adds to the Foxes’ attractive options in Fantasy Premier League next season.

The Belgian midfielder, signed for a reported £40m from Monaco, impressed in a brief loan spell towards the end of 2018/19 and was a successful differential pick for those FPL bosses who backed him.

The central midfielder scored three goals and registered a further five assists in just 13 starts, averaging 4.8 FPL points per game – more than any of Leicester’s other Fantasy assets apart from Jamie Vardy (£9.0m).

You can read more about Tielemans’ history in our Scout Report.

The Foxes’ opening eight fixtures are a mixed bag, with Brendan Rodgers’ side facing five of last season’s top seven in the first two months of the campaign.

There are also matches against Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Newcastle United in that time, however.

For those wishing to back a Leicester asset from the off, there is a bit of a selection headache.

Ayoze Perez‘s (£6.5m) case for inclusion was heard in a Members’ article last week but in Tielemans and James Maddison (£7.0m) we also have two FPL midfielders who provided us with decent value for money in 2018/19.

In Vardy, we also have a premium forward who scored more goals than any other Premier League player in the final ten Gameweeks of last season.

This latest article will scrutinise the numbers behind Tielemans’ appearances for Leicester so far.

He should be a regular - I think Soton will go two up front.
(They looked a bit more positive and attacking minded at the end of last season)
And if he stays fit should pop in a few goals and/or assists.
          It's worth a punt
(unless another decent 6.0 turns up (West Ham? Everton?))

King gives you a sound FPL value. 2 years ago he excelled. Expect 15 goals and 5 assists on around 160 points which is good for a 6.5 investment. Taking away the captaincy which could be argued to buy. Kun Kane Auba need to return 260 points to generate the same value. Go for King

      1. EMBOLOFAN

comparing value of king vs aguero is pointless, comparing king vs similar priced options more useful

          Clearly don't understand me.
If you want to captain a player then big hitters are worth it.
If you are going to captain salah all the time then having Kun is not wort it.
All about points per million outside of captaincy.
Kun is used as an extreme.
6.5/7 mil defenders outscore 8.5 mil mids and forwards. Fact.
King should be good value for money.

    Salah Sterling Siggy Fraser (Donck)
    Wilson Deulofeu (4.5)
    B)

Splitting hairs! 3 big names at 10 points per game and 8 also rans at 2 points per game get you nowhere. You read and presume and not stop to think about the fundamental answer.
6.5 across the board is limited thinking too. Defender higher ppm.
Mids you pay a premium and forwards even more.
The captaincy pick is the pain in the woodpile.

The point is you do what you think you need to do in order to get lots of points. How you get there doesn't make a difference.

Yes but the numbers just don't work. Check out last year.
Check out Robbo VVD and TAA add their points divide by minutes and divide by total cost.
Now do it with Siggy Fraser and Pogba.
Over the season there is a fair size difference for less money.

Puel was sacked on the 24th Feb

Vardy scored 10 and setup 1 in the following 11 premier league games (that spell included games against Spurs, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea)

For context - he scored 8 and setup 1 in the prior 23 appearances under Puel lol

He’s in full on beast mode under Brodge - Rodger’s equivalent of Suarez from the Liverpool days

    Hi

I'd be interested to here people's opinions on these 2 teams.

Although they're similar, the first one is basically template, the second has no City attack but actually looks the stronger team (i.e. Vardy/Wilson/Laporte vs Sterling/4.5 Def/6.5 Forward). Both have 2 playing subs for what it's worth.

    Ederson Ederson
    Robertson - TAA - Digne - Cathcart Robertson - TAA - Digne - Laporte
    Salah - Sterling - Siggy - Perez Salah - Siggy - Perez
King - Deulofeu Vardy - Wilson - King

Really starting to consider 5-3-2/4-3-3 formation with a strong sub.

Just seems so much value in defence, especially if Liverpool and Man City do well defensively again.

For example I have this team atm

    Ryan
    Laporte, Zinchenko, TAA, VVD, Signs
    Salah, Sterling, Sigurdsson
    King, Sharp

    Button, Murray, Deodonker, Hayden

    Nothing left over

Yes, have money on the bench and a benching headache but the idea is the third striker can be there if Zinchenko or even TAA doesn't play

What are your thoughts? Anyone considering similar?

I agree, although Robertson had 0 goals in EPL and TAA had more assists in almost 800 less minutes.

          The way I see it...

TAA - biggest upside; highest risk of rotation
          Robbo - most consistent
VVD - biggest goal threat; rarely will chip in assists; as nailed as they come

Pains me to say it as a huge Robbo fan, but in FPL terms:

      TAA
      VVD
      Robbo

for me, at least to start the season (unless someone convinces me otherwise). Trent obvious with the attacking threat and FKs, etc, but leaning towards VVD over Robbo as there was only a 5pt difference between em last season but i can save 0.5m by getting Van dijk...

How’s she looking at this point? I think I'm fairly happy with it at the moment.

    Heaton (Button)
    TAA VVD Coleman Zinchenko (Gibson)
    Salah Sterling Fraser (Dendoncker Romeu)
    Vardy King Deulofeu

-Fraser can likely go after first 2 weeks for whichever Lei mid (or other) is looking the best.
-At least 2 playing subs, starting XI should all be nailed (will monitor Zinchenko)
-Fairly flexible in terms of being able to make moves. Obvious omission from the template is Sigurdsson, and another 'up-in-the-air is whether to just start with a 6.5 mid which would allow me to get in either robbo or laporte for vvd or zinchenko, but that's minor

Brooks instead of Fraser could work especially if your looking short term, still allows the switch to Perez or Tielemans and then Laporte or Robbo.

That could be a good call tbh. Brooks nailed enough? Heard he was good when able to play what with his injuries last season

My first rule. Avoid to put in an FPL team that has rotation risks

Only rotation risk I see in there is Zinchenko, who I've said I'll monitor. I'll swap him out if he doesn't look to be nailed, likely for Mendy if he's fit to play

Or reduce deulofeu to fodder and go 5 at the back. Work allow laporte instead of Gibson. Or trippier and upgrade Fraser?

      Very nice.

Unconvinced by Zinchenko. But I’m looking for potential returns at both ends for premium defenders. You may be happy with just cs. City were only moderately reliable cs in first half last season.

He’s just been given #7 I’m sure he’s in the plans.

        Chicharito
        Yarmolenko - Lanzini/Fornals - Anderson

        Or even

        Yarmolenko
        Lanzini - Fornals - Anderson

Problem with him is if I include him he breaks a cardinal rule. Don't have any of your starting 11 week one a rotation risk.

          That’s exactly it.

Ultimately he won’t make my cut. KdB may though!!

Have KDB in my draft. He is the only potential Citeh points getter that I can afford.

But replaced Sterling with Salah and Tielemens with KDB.

        Front 5 would be
        Salah,KDB,Sigurdsson
        Vardy,King

Very solid team if you believe Everton will sustain their CS rate from end of last season.

          I dont

Potential attacking returns for them both with good fixtures.
            It’s either that or go Kepa/Lloris/Luiz + Azpi/Luiz instead of Ederson,Coleman.

Senegal are through to the semis of AFCON. Which means Gueye might not be ready for GW1. Zouma is still at Chelsea.

That’s enough for me to forget abt a double up. Might still get one (Digne probably), but even if Zaha leaves for Arsenal, Im not overly confident EVE will keep a CS in GW1.
