Everton's Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye, 29, says he is aware of the rumours of a move to Paris St-Germain but that his focus is on the Africa Cup of Nations. (Sport Witness)

Might just shift Digne -> Coleman if he does leave to use the 0.5m elsewhere. So important to that mdifield.

Less investment of funds. My team is such that 0.5m would make a difference elsewhere on he pitch.

So, if you had Coleman before this news broke, you'd be looking to downgrade him to a £5.0m defender then?

Like others on here, I don't get it. Digne won't stop getting attacking points if Gueye is replaced by Delph.

Strip out late season cs bonuses and Digne is dubious value for 6.0 imo.

Had him cheap last season and before that cs run he was marginal - a bore when he hauled on the bench but nowhere near essential

Everton were very resistant in January even when they offered £40 mill. If not hopefully they can sign a good replacement

Digne offers so much going forward.
I think I'd keep him for that run & may shift to a Chelsea/United Defender later on if they find their mojo

    First RMT of the year!

    Ryan
    Vvd, robbo, Mendy, digne
    Salah, siggy, bilva
    Kane, jota, king.

    Hennessy, Kelly, dendo, Haydon.

Hennessy to free up 0.5 but.nice rotation with the 2 keepers. Got burnt with brighton she last year so hessitant with brighton keepers

Why not just go for the Ryan/button combo, at least you will have one playing. Not sure on Jota just yet. Mendy be wary of zinchenko. Other than that not bad

Would consider more reliable players for Kelly & Mendy. The keeper situation well it seems you made up your mind there, which could work.

I don't get the whole bench of playing players at this stage. As long as you've 2 or even just 1 you should be fine. You only need a full bench for bench boost/end of season.

Forget Mendy. Him and Mangala have been omitted from the City squad for their tour in Asia. Laporte is the goto man imo.

Similar to mine. Differences below, I marginally prefer mine but I like yours for a Kane option. It wouldn't shock me if Bilva has a breakout season in terms of FPL returns, big if there is how much game time Sane gets as if he plays then Sterling will be on right and Bilva further back with limited returns, KDB can still get plenty of assists and decent goals from further back. I was on Jota for ages but gone for Delo for now because of the fixtures, that might be an early transfer for me. Zinc is favourite for LB at City at the moment but not nailed so needs monitoring.

      Ryan > Ederson
      Hen > Button
      Mendy > Zinc
      Bilva > KDB
      Kane > Vardy

Hi everyone, how's this looking for a first draft? Ideally, id like a man united player in there but you just dont know how there guna turn up, so with that in mind this is my squad, feel free to rip it apart and leave me a few suggestions,

    Fabianski
    Taa, vvd, cathcart
    Salah, grealish, Pereyra, siggy
    Aguero, vardy, king

    Bench, button, Dendoncker, diop, kelly

Way too much invested up top, not enough on premium defence (which has been outscoring premium forwards).

If you're playing 3-4-3 have 3 premium defenders. I'd downgrade Pereira or Grealish, or both, to free up the money for someone like Digne or Laporte, both of whom are far more likely to comfortably outscore those two mids .

Not keen on Watford at the back. Going aguero instead of sterling is good for the fact you save .5. Salah and siggy are great but you need to upgrade either pereyra or grealish. Maybe drop vardy for cheaper option to balance the team out a bit

Con - if Liverpool keep a clean sheet, effective ownership means that probably won't be beneficial for you

      1. pingissimus
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 8 months ago

The cs isn’t the point with those two imo. A lost is only 4 points - scarcely a killer and if you have City defence instead you’ll likely make it up.

More to the point with TAA and Robbo is that they bring attacking returns too. Those are the returns that other defenders are unlikely to cover.

I’m still actively considering captaining either TAA or Robbo in a Mo free team.

That’s a scenario where double defence is potentially (underlined bold caps to be inserted) a weapon. Effective triple defence can cover Mo from my experience last season not least because both Mo and defence are best at home.

The wait and see is if Liverpool are going to repeat that home defensive record. Not a given.

I'm too scared to go Mo-less from the start but very happy to take Salah + TAA + VVD at the start, and really I don't think there are any more important players

My no Mo isn’t intended to be permanent!

It’s predicated on the notion that none of the front 3 will have anything like a full preseason and that’s likely to impact their effectiveness.

Pretty set on one of these teams to start the season. The first (4-4-2) has Sterling, with two 6.5 forwards and two rotating 4.5 defs.
The second (4-3-3) has no Sterling but has Wilson, Vardy and Laporte as a permanent def. (*Moura will become Siggy from GW2).

    Which do you prefer? Thanks.

    Ederson
    TAA - Robbo - Digne - Cathcart
Salah - Sterling - *Moura - Tielemans (or Perez)
    King - Deulofeu

I am watching the Zaha situation carefully. Ironically, my contingency is Walker to Zinchenko (assuming he looks like first choice in pre season) and Zaha to Lucas Moura so our teams will become even more similar.

I just think the 1.5 difference between him and a 4.5 keeper won't get as money points as a well-used 1.5 upgrade elsewhere.

I don't fancy Ryan and he's the only real option, can't see him doing much more than 100 points if that. Fab is the only real budget option for me but the extra 1 mil doesn't make a huge difference to me elsewhere i.e. won't mean an upgrade of KDB to Sterling or something like that. I can see both sides of the argument though so not completely sold yet either way.

Potentially selling Gueye and even if not he’ll come back late from ACON. Zouma may not return.

Defence won’t be as solid as end of last season so very reliant on attacking returns.

Nailed on with great fixtures, a great price, playing for a good team in a decent defence but has no European distractions and a big attacking upside.

I don't see Leicester paying 30 and 40 million for squad players. I expect Rogers to create a formation for the pair of them plus Madders and Vardy.

Yes mate i agree on that , what i can see is Perez will play more in the box rather than Tielemens, Tielemens might get more assist than goal.

Yeah, Tielemans might have to play a bit deeper than last season. At the moment in terms of expected points I'd go Vardy, Maddy, Perez, Tielemans.

Planning two of your first three transfers is not a good idea. You will want to be using your transfers on the form players. Over the first couple of weeks we have the greatest 'rate of new information' and so we need to be more flexible.

I always have a plan. That doesn’t mean it’s set in stone. I loosely plan to use my wildcard in the first 6 weeks. We don’t have form yet. We only have fixtures to go off. That team will likely change as preseason unfolds.

Right managers first post here this pre-season... Leicester fans may be able to help...

I was delighted to see Tielemans priced @ £6.5M but with Perez and Maddison & Vardy also in the side how will Leicester line-up?

Will Tielemans now be deeper than last year like in the 2 of a 4231 or in the midfield of a 433?

Either way seems too deep to be worth £6.5M

    Thoughts greatly appreciated...

Could Siggy Jorginho be real value at 13 in midfield if Jorginho is nailed? They would line up alongside KdB Sterling potentially for me.

Cheap and presumably inherits pens. He’d be the cheapest pen taker in the game I imagine.

I’m also wondering if Kante playing behind him might make him more valuable going forward.

He was brought in as the consummate Sarri player. I don't think he can play any other way. I also think Kante will be nailed into Frank's DM spot, so unless Frank plays a double_DM pivot, I'm not sure Jorg's even guaranteed game time.

He’s easily one of the best ball playing midfielders in the league.

It’s easy to slate him for a not performing in a defensive midfield role, and as a fellow fall-out boy as Sarri, but there’s no doubting his playmaking ability. Literally every team were man-marking him, I’ve never even seen Pirlo being man-marked as much.

Well that's another problem. Frank's Derby were big on pressing but that not Jorgies game either. He needs time and the PL doesn't give him that.

A nice point admittedly, but Jorginho has nothing in common with Ngolo Kante, he is - and always been - a kind of "Pirlo wannabe", not a (high quality) tackler like Kante. I mean, they could well be a couple of deep midfielders in a 4-2-3-1, for example.

Tried a few Kane iterations but it just becomes quite unbalanced elsewhere and there are a few worries with him - notoriously slow starter to season, ever increasing injury risk, often playing deeper than used to. Granted KDB is an injury risk too but his inclusion doesn't upset the rest of the team like it would with Kane. I'll set and forget on the whole for captain with Salah with maybe the odd punt.

Gross looked pretty good yesterday. But I feel its one of the wingers who will be the main FPL assets in Brighton. Either Ali J or Trossard.

Premium striker, that is still an idea I'm very much considering. But personally would go for Auba for GW1 and 2, and switch to Harry for GW3, to dodge the City game.

Groß been in my team since day one, hope he keeps quiet-ish during preseason. Cheers.

He’s my go to 6.5 mid. Just a bit worried that the write up has Potter as a rotator.

I believe he's the key player for BHA nonetheless.

    Kepa
    TAA VvD Laporte Digne
    Salah deBruyne Sigurdsson Tielemans
    Vardy Adams

Really stuck on this. Thinking of going Vardy+Laporte->Walker+Lacazette, but I'll let that idea breath a little and see how I feel about it in a week's time.

Tried to fit in Sterling but found myself sacrificing too many things defence.
    Alisson
    VvD ZInchenko Digne Christiensen
    Salah Sterling Sigurdsson Tielemans
    Vardy Adams

    Thoughts on both?

Agreed on sterling costing too much elsewhere, especially if you have salah, KdB price doesnt make him essential imo and you have to weigh up if the value is better spread

Cheers, Fog. Yeah, it really makes a difference when I let Sterling go. I'm sacrificing too much to get him in.

      Nice team

Like the spread in defence - seems right in principle.

My variation is more punty in that I lose Laporte for a playing 4.5 and get Fab in. I’m prepared to gamble on losing cs which is the likely downside.

That gets you to Sterling if you want but for me it would be Kane and King
