Want to work for Fantasy Football Scout? Get in touch

As we gear up for the start of the 2019/20 season, we are frantically working behind the scenes to make improvements for our site users and subscribers.

We have a number of exciting developments in the pipeline but we’ll need an additional body to help us roll out the changes we have planned.

Our previous call to arms was for editorial staff but we are now looking for a web developer to assist with the technical side of things.

We work remotely so location shouldn’t be an issue for anyone considering applying. Flexibility of hours would be desirable, however.

We are looking for the following skills from our candidates:

Required

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and CSS, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
  • Proficient with CSS2/CSS3
  • Knowledge of Accessibility and Web Standards
  • Experience with both Responsive and Adaptive Web Design

Beneficial

  • A working knowledge of Git
  • Experience with PHP

Ideal

  • Experience of React.js
  • Knowledge of WordPress

Based on past experience with our job adverts, we need to stress that it may take a little time to look through and respond to applications. But if that doesn’t put you off and you want to get involved with the next chapter of the site, please drop us a line with your CV at jobs@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

In a vacuum, do you prefer

    A) Brooks

    B) Deulofeu

    to start the season

Thoughts on this team? I am aware I am going cheap in defence but want to be a tad different:

    Ryan / Button
    Diop / VVD / Cathcart / Dunk / Kelly
    Salah / KDB / Siggy / Brooks / Dendonker
    King / Kane / Vardy

Obviously good upfront although I don’t get Brooks.

But that defence is too stretched. Three cheapies is pushing it but four is too much. Even just get a solid 5.5 from spurs or something.

You can’t start the season having to play either Kelly or Hayden, unless you are willing to forfeit one space in your team for the greater good (which I have thought about!)

Thoughts on this squad? I know bench weak and depends on Zinchenko confirming place. Trippier another option depending on preseason form.

    Pope/Heaton
    TAA Coleman Van Dijk Zinchenko
    Salah KDB Sigurdsson Tielemans
    Kane King

    Woodman Dendoncker Kelly Greenwood

Still means you are reliant on attacking returns to justify steep price. Got to be strong defensively for that price.

Everton conceded 13 in the 5 games Gueye missed last season

That type of leafiness is tricky for any 6.0 to outgun with attacking returns

Fixtures are mixed although the theory is that doesn’t matter with Leicester playing counter attacking. Personally I like to try to limit expected transfers and I think he will tear it up so getting now.

    Brighton
    TAA VVD Digne Coleman Zinky
    S S S Brooks (donkey)
    King Jota (greenwood)

with Brooks/Jota/Coleman 12th man depending on fixture
Brooks/King just placeholders hopefully for wk3 Giroud/Yarm but again depends

Who is the best value option out of these assuming they are all looking likely to start?

    a) Pereyra

    b) Hughes

    c) Yarmolenko

    d) Gross

Assuming they all start, Yarmolenko imo.

Perreyra imho is bit underrated. Gross can also be a differential if he is back to his best. He is a very good player imho. Yarmolenko can also be a differential although it is quite risky option at the moment imho.

        1. Lemongrab

I guess Kun a year older too so maybe more at risk of rest for Jesus this season. If it's between the two I'd probably be going for Sterling personally but it's a close call.

Haha well if he's on bench warming duties for most of the time anyway then he's worth a punt at 4.5. If he does well then you'll make some cash and if he doesn't he's hardly likely to be highly owned so won't fall and you can just swap to another 4.5 enabler.

      Looks good.
Bur keeper, probably Pope, might be a better option than Ryan.
Calvert Lewin is a wait and see. Also 6.0 forward rather than 6.5 is a nasty price point as less straight swap options if he does not work out.

Okay, here's a thing. We're all thinking about the value in Liverpool's defence and how, at 0.5 less than 'the other two', VvD is looking great value. And I'd agree. However, statistically, you could argue that Laporte is much better value than Virgil.

Liverpool kept one CS more than City last season, but statistically over-performed, whereas City slightly under-performed. In terms of xGC, City were clearly superior to Liverpool throughout the whole season, and in particular towards the end. Also, Laporte is comfortably ahead in terms of xG (and, again, the difference increases towards the end of the season).

So, basically, Laporte at City is a more attacking defender in a better defensive team than Virgil is at Liverpool. But we'd still take VvD if it were either/or every time, right?

I tend to disagree but I can;t prove it.
Laporte played games as left back and had good returns from there.
Not sure but around GW15 he only got defensive points.
I do think however, Liverpool over performed in the clean sheet area.

Left-back point is a good one - but it's not impossible he plays some more games there at some point. Probably not GW1, mind.

I think City will get more cleanies than Liverpool this year, maybe even 3 or 4 more. They were *superb* defensively over the run-in.

With the lad coming back, Mendy and Zin it is less likely.

If you want the best 5
      Have Robbo Trent and Laporte
Then based on fixtures Azpi and Coleman. Simples 🙂

Don't think I would risk Zinc even if nailed pre-season, there is the new dude and Mendy would surely be rotation. Walker just doesn't seem worth it so I just go safe and say Laporte.

Thought I’d see what a team full of big hitters looks like:

    Ryan

Diop, C. Taylor, Cathcart, Bednarek, Lascelles

    Salah, Sterling

    Kane, Aubameyang, Vardy

    Bench: Button, Dendoncker, Stephens, Romeu

    Defensive assets
    Fab Pope
    Laporte Zin TAA Robbo Digne

it costs me as I have KDB rather than Sterling

Total overkill on keepers - rotation don't work you will pick the wrong one each week. Just get Fab in cause he is Fab. Ignore the first fixture and just play him.
Sterling is possible with a decent defence

      Fab

      Robbo TAA Laporte Coleman Azpi

      Salah Sterling Siggy Brooks

      King

      4.0 donkey 4.5 4.5
Probably go Moura over Siggy for at least week one.

I will only end up with Fab or Pope

        Zaha Siggy KDB and Salah

        Only Wilson up front.
If I wanted to C Sterling I would get him

Fair enough I wish I could get Wilson or Fraser in I think Brooks and King may be my fails as they look like "cover" but are probably not good enough.
