Why has Everton’s attack been so underwhelming so far this season?

Everton’s popular attacking assets have underwhelmed Fantasy Premier League managers so far this season.

After two matches, they have scored just once, only Crystal Palace finding the net fewer times than the Toffees at this stage.

Perhaps we should not be too surprised to see Marco Silva’s men struggle in front of goal at this stage.

During their pre-season campaign, they scored just three goals in seven matches, with Richarlison (£8.0m) the only key figure missing for most of it.

One was registered against Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks, while Monaco and Mainz were the only other teams to concede against Everton.

The Toffees drew blanks in four of their summer friendlies, against FC Sion, Wigan Athletic, Sevilla and Werder Bremen.

Of those who found the back of the net, Joe Williams and Lewis Gibson are not first-team regulars, the former now a permanent Wigan player, while Seamus Coleman (£5.5m) is the only summer goal-scorer to have played in either Premier League match so far this season.

Accordingly, ahead of a Gameweek 3 trip to Aston Villa, Fantasy managers might be looking to move on their Everton attackers.

We have assessed the underlying statistics from their first two matches of the campaign to find out if the Toffees have simply been unlucky not to score more often, or if there are some tangible reasons for concern.

        The only thing I'm afraid about is that the premium players are the players in form. Can't see Sterling, De Bruyne or Mané for example lose form any time soon.

          Have been reading the Spurs fans forum and it's so difficult to call. Personally, I think Lamela and Moura earn another start with Son coming on from the bench and starting vs Arsenal the following week. But Poch has so many options.

      I'd considering wildcarding soon. Adrian will eventually become a problem, Ota/Christensen are dodgy picks, no Pool mids, Firmino not the best value fwd available.

        He's not. But I'm happy with that for a couple of weeks because of his goal threat.

        Worried about Zinchenko being rotated / dropped as he offers nothing going forward. Plenty of other 5.5m defenders to jump on.

        thanks Doos, hear you loud and clear. If I had 0.5m I'd probably go Emerson over Christensen rather than Ceballos to Mount, so it's a tricky one. Definitely on the shortlist however.

                I owned Barnes for a little while last year. It works in his favour that he has Wood alongside him. Not many teams in the Prem playing with 2 up top. Easy switch to Jota later also.

            I think he is at least 1.0 to 1.5 underpriced. Could hit 200 points easily this season. Best player in the prem based on eye test and has looked threatening! What’s not to like?

                I'd kinda agree, he's a obviously a fantastic player, and should get around 200pts for the season...

                There's a chance the Spurs performance was a once off with him playing a No. 10 role, only 1 assist with 5 goals vs WHAM and playing much deeper...

          I wouldn't sell VVD. If you feel the need to get Pukki, you could do Perez to Mount or Trossard or Gudmonsson or Ceballos or Cantwell

      no point regretting now its done.
      personally dont like these teams that try to squeeze every single heavy hitter they can in.
      you cant captain of all of them. premium defenders score 150-200 pts over the season, 3-4 of those over their cheaper equivalents more than makes up for the uplift Kane will give you over say, Rashford or Haller
