The Dugout Discussion opens for the concluding fixture of Gameweek 34, which sees 17th placed Wigan Athletic travel down the 3rd placed Arsenal. The team news for the game is in, and the sides line-up as follows…

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Vermaelen, Andre Santos, Song, Arteta, Walcott, Rosicky, Benayoun, van Persie.

Wigan XI: Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, Boyce, McCarthy, McArthur, Beausejour, Moses, Di Santo, Gomez.

A single change from the side that brushed Wolves aside for the Gunners, as Tomas Rosicky comes in for Aaron Ramsey in midfield.

Despite condemning Manchester United to only their fourth defeat of the season, Shaun Maloney isn’t in the visitors squad. Jordi Gomez replaces the Malaysian born Scot.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

Around 70points behind top spot! Wats the odds on me catching him? I know slim but what shall i do to catch him? Drastic changes and differential captain choices surely?

I play for my ML first, but I'd be pretty psyched to finish within top 1K.

Top 100 finish would make me simply unbearable. My wife can't stand the updates as it is.

Back in GW21 I was at my wits end with this game. After weeks of awful scores I used my WC, only to be greeted with a big fat red arrow. I sat in 389,831th position and was exactly 120 points behind my mini league leader.

What a difference 13 weeks make!

After 12 green arrows in the last 13, including 6 top 100k GW ranks, I now sit in 27,922th. However the reason tonight was so special I with Verm's goal I passed my mini league rival, and now sit 2 points above him.

It's been a long old slog but it all feels worth it now, I've managed to put myself right back in contention. I finished 406th last season, but to see the season out and win my mini league will feel like just as big an accomplishment to me because it's been such a massive and rewarding turnaround.

Well done.. I can kinda relate, although my upturn hasn't been quite dramatic as yours, I've come back from a pretty bad start and slowly been building momentum. I was 120pts or so off my leader about Xmas time and now I've been top for the last 3 weeks although my lead is slender (24pts). Hope you manage to finish top.

I'm just hoping for one of those rare FPL days when your sitting at home, watching your captain (that nobody else has) score goal after goal and rack up 40+ points!

I remember Lampard vs Derby County a few years back when he scored 4 and I was the only person who had him!

Am I the only person still focusing on DGW36? Seems people no longer care about it 😕 I think its important to get as many DGWers as possible

    Open Controls

Not necessarily. We must remember to look at each hit on its individual merits. My current non DGW players are Turner (BOL), Caulker (WOL), Kompany (MUN), Sess (BOL), Siggie (WOL), Aguero (MUN). Any DGW player I get in will have to score 4 more points than the player they replace to make it worthwhile. Looking at the above, there is only Kompany, and maybe Aguero who are worth spending the points on (for Baines and Adebayor/ Jelavic?). Or should I be looking to get in more DGW players?

Hmm, I don't have any Sunderland players myself so that's two extra DGWers there. Kompany should definitely go as well. Aguero is keep-able I guess but I would rather Jellyfish or Ade for the DGW believe it or not.

If it continues to become a differential as people lose interest in it then that is a good enough reason to focus more on GW36. I'm chasing a 60pt deficit so I need to go all guns blazing for it. I didn't play 9 players last week for nothing

Be wary of chasing points. Jack Nicklaus one said that the biggest mistake amateur golfers make is chasing a score.

No, not exactly. My reason for not choosing rvp turned to be correct but it didn't help when my captain turned up with just 6 pts.

I think Fratboy has a 6-7 pt lead going into the second leg, though it really should have been the other way round. Pity that he played 5 defenders and got away with it in style. Lady Luck sure was smiling for him.

This week is gonna be pretty tough, with few clean sheets on the horizon, loads of away fixtures...Whom do you think you will captain? You must have drafted in one city player, at least since you have wc next week? I really would like tevez but don't wanna get rid of rvp/rooney.

You need a differential for you h2h too, right?

?both? that's what I'm trying to figure out... Between two, though, probably Mata, but don't know that he will play both matches. Dempsey more likely to play both.

      Mata!

One home game is more than enough time for him to do some damage, although I reckon he could start both if we're thrashed by Barca at home.

Is it worth putting Mata in for Valencia when the latter is playing so well? I'm a United fan too which makes it even more difficult... I do remember Clichy doing a good job on him at old trafford though

He seems to be doing all the hard work on the wing but most of his crosses aren't being put into the back of the net. Mata is more central and important to Chelsea and I reckon he's got the form & fixtures to boost his potential.

High risk in game time for mata.. it will go both ways for you! so if u are a risk taker, there's a possibility for high returns

If we don't manage to make the champions league this season, we will have lost a great chance to compete with the big boys on a regular basis. We have been lucky this season to over perform when so many of the other teams have been shite. Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool will surely invest shed loads of money in the summer. If we manage to qualify, it will give us an extra 20+ million which we can invest in the squad. I strongly believe that will be enough to challenge for the top 6 (or higher) again next season, regardless of how much the others spend. If we don't qualify, we will probably have to sell Tiote in order to improve the squad, and so lose one of our key players. One step back to take two forward as it were. ,

Has anyone had a look at the Baps predictions for last night's game?

Verminator does seem to be a good shout for a few, since both the goal-scorers in Wigan were taken off early and had shots off target. Unfortunately, even the Verminator had 2 shots off target, ended up on the losing side but played the whole game and had 1 block.

    I'm going with

    Moses 3 Gomez 2 Verm 2/1

AT least at looks like Wigan might(once again) scrape thru so Moses will be a cheapish Milf option.

Sorry,I'm looking at any possible Silva linings after last night.

unless you are keeping Tevez long term, not worth wasting a transfer with DGW looming, every transfer is precious.

Tevez may well be a better shout than any of the other DGW strikers apart from Cissé.

Go for it and may the force be with you, young man!
