With just four Gameweeks left of the season, Fantasy managers are looking at every viable option available as a means to climb up the rankings and win that crucial mini-league title. Many will be throwing caution to the wind at this point in order to claw back their rivals’ leads and, with plenty of double Gameweeks on the horizon, even Aston Villa’s assets are coming under scrutiny.

Let’s face it – the midlands outfit have hardly been the most potent of Fantasy sides this term. The fact that Gabby Agbonlahor is still their top scoring player despite returning a single assist since Gameweek 11 speaks volumes for their insipid season. As the likes of Wigan have recently shown, however, there’s potential near the bottom of the table as teams scrap for survival and, with two home clashes in Gameweek 35, Villa are blinking – albeit briefly – on Fantasy managers’ radars ahead of the weekend’s schedule.

The hunt for options amongst the midlands squad leads us to James Collins. A look at his recent home performances highlights the fact that the Villa centre-half has returned at least six points in two of his last three at Villa Park – a clean sheet against Fulham and a goal against Chelsea. While Villa may have shipped four at United last weekend, they’ll be more optimistic heading into their games against Sunderland and Bolton – Martin O’Neill’s side have failed to score in their last three, while Bolton have been almost as poor in attack, with no goals in their previous two matches.

So far this week, over 10,000 Fantasy managers have taken a punt on the 5.3 priced defender, an indication of the faith held in his potential. Collins’ game also seems suited to the EA SPORTS PPI scoring system; he’s picked up a total of 12 bonus points over the course of the campaign – only six defenders have earned more this term.

With regular sidekick Richard Dunne still out with a collarbone injury, Collins’ resilience and will-to-win in the heart of the Villains backline will be key over these next crucial two matches. McLeish will be more than aware that back-to-back victories would all but clinch their survival and somewhat endear him to the home faithful, thus relieving the pressure ahead of their remaining three fixtures (wba, TOT, nor).

    Hey y'all.

    Current team:

    Krul (Ruddy)

    (McAuley) (Turner) Evans Simpson Caulker

    Walcott Valencia Dempsey Sigurdsson (Surman)

    Van Persie Aguero Rooney.

I will use my wildcard before the double gameweek, so I just need 1 week punt now. 1 freebie and 0,3 in bank

Option 1. Walcott out for: Bale/VdV or someone else in this price range.

Option 2. Turner out for Wheater or Ream.

    Thoughts?

If you're going to WC anyway, I'd be tempted to do Krul --> Given.

There's better options in the DGW than Krul in goal and then he doesn't have great fixtures GW 37 or GW 38.

If you're set on having him for Stoke, I would maybe consider Turner --> Lichaj.

    Just on the RVP/Rooney -> Tevez/Aguero debate:
The way I look at it is: to transfer one in this week and out next week is essentially costing you 2 transfers which I consider as being 8 pts (particulary with the desire to do extra transfers for GW36). Assume Rooney or RVP get a below average score of 5 points, that means they need to score 13 (i.e. 2 goals) just to break even. No point in doing a transfer just to break even, you really want a gain of at least 4 points so that's either a hatrick or 2 goals and 2 assists which is unlikely even v Wolves.
If you're transferring them in for the remainder of the season then their next 2 games after Wolves are Man Utd(h) and Newcastle(a), two of the worst fixtures around.
RVP meanwhile has Norwich(h) in GW37, a nice fixture to have now that Norwich are safe.
Rooney has Swansea(h) in GW37 which could well be a title decider and Swansea are likely to have a few fringe players playing according to Rodgers, especially in defense.

True but it is only 4pts if you can't do better with other transfers.

That said, I tend to assume that a FT is still worth 4pts even though there have been times this season when I have used one of my FT just to put someone on the bench.

What if you captain them? That would be my motivation.

Neither RVP or Rooney are enticing choices this week, but if you captain Tevez/Aggy and they get a double, for example, that's a BIG gain on people who don't have them.

And City are at home next week, United away.

Is it worth taking a free one week punt on Tevez and then bringing in Adebayor or getting Adebayor in now in preparation for GW36.

In other words, which is better

      a) Tevez
      b) Adebayor + FT

I'd go Sess over Graham. Similar enough chances of scoring (i.e. low) but as a midfielder Sess earns more points.
Bog over Krul, Bog surely guaranteed at least 4 and decent chance of 9 or more.
Krul realistically will score between 2 and 7.
And for Gallas or Gallas, I'm undecided 😀

Up 44 pts in ML...2nd place took a hit and I'm pretty sure he's doubled up on Villa Defenders. What should I do...As of now my starting defense would be Simpson Evans Turner (Shotton Sagna).

      A. Sagna to Collins (-4)
      B. No hit

B all day. I have Collins but don't take a hit to get him. Defense looks ok plus AV have hardly been a clean sheet machine this season.

Hey guys. Bale or VDV is my biggest dillema this week! Bale is obviously more nailed on and reliable but VDV is more likely to bring in double figure hauls. It's such a close call who are others going for this week or next?

Opinions on my side for DGW 36:

      Howard [Vorm]

Cahill - BAE - Vermaelen [Enrique, Evans]

Bale - Dempsey - Sigurdsson - Ben Arfa [Valencia]

      Jelavic - Tevez - Cisse

It will cost me 12 points to put this side together. Replacing Rooney/Sess/McClean with Jelavic/Ben Arfa/ Dempsey. I think it's worth it though, can see all three returning 4+ points.

Hi, Is R Taylor likely to start GWK 35 and or GWK 36?

If you had him would you keep him and play him for GWK 36?

      Thanks in advance
